Located on Bank Street, just a short walk from the Church Street Marketplace in Burlington, A Single Pebble has been preparing Asian delicacies in the most traditional ways of China since 2002.
Voted ¡¥The Best Restaurant in Vermont¡¦ by Vermont Magazine in 2004, and received another Seven Daysies award in from 2004 to 2007 as the ¡¥Best place to have dinner ¡¦ inside Chittenden County.

"We had a delicious meal out at A Single Pebble. It had been a few years since I last went, and the notable items to enjoy were the fried asparagus, the spicy lamb (both specials) and the Chop Your Head off Soup for 4 (best deal running!). Our favorite item, all around, was the Mock Eel. Made from mushrooms, it was the most delicious plate we had and I would have been happy with eating the whole plate myself!!! Enjoy!"

"This is one of my favorite restaurants and I usually find myself here a few times/month. Phoebe is a fantastic waitress - Knowledgable about the menu items, timely, and attentive. Our favorite dishes are the hot & sour soup (best we've tasted ANYWHERE, local or otherwise), the Mock Eel (I could live on that), the dry fry green beans (I've since learned to make these...had to), double garlic eggplant... It sounds like I don't eat meat: I do. And all their meat dishes are outstanding (3 cup chicken, Lemon chicken). But if you're a vegetarian this restaurant is a rare find. Normally a place will have "some things you can eat" or a couple items that are vegetarian. This place has TONS. How refreshing: Non-Americanized Authentic Chinese!"

"We went to try the dim sum on Sunday. Although many dim sum plates were being offered, only a couple of dishes were reminiscent of the bustling dim sum houses of "big city" Chinatowns. The mini har gow was pleasing to the eye, but not very flavorful. We love Single Pebble for dinner, but would not return for dim sum. It's worth the trip to Montreal for dim sum."

"The food here is great. Keep in mind it is served in a "family-style" , meaning each dish is intended to be shared by passing it around the large size lazy-susan on the table top. Because of this, not all of the entrees come out at once-they come out staggered according to what dishes you've finished as a group. It makes for a fun experience, so embrace it and don't be frustrated when the entrees come out at different times!"

On this occasion ibe of our dishes came out of the kitchenvery late and the waitress immediately let us know there would be no charge for the dish. It was a nice gesture. Would definitely return. I would recommend requesting the main dining room by the bar as the back dining room was very noisy and stuffy."

"Something (delicious) for everyone! A Single Pebble has a massive menu with almost innumerable choices...even for vegans like us. Accustomed to "making do" on most menus, often settling for flavorless concoctions served up by chefs whose treatments of vegetables leave a lot to be desired, we were THRILLED by the myriad flavors and textures of the dishes at A Single Pebble. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone: meat-eaters and vegans alike. Standouts for us were the scallion pancakes, dry fried green beans, and the sesame seitan. The servers are very knowledgeable and make good recommendations. Just don't show up without a reservation; the secret is out that this is the destination for tasty, creative cuisine in Burlington."

"I had lunch mid-week on my own, ordering small plates and soup. Excellent flavor and good service. The soup was lukewarm. The dumpling dough was "thick". Not something I'm used to from San Francisco.
Second visit was with my college daughter and friends. We asked for the chef tasting menu and we were not disappointed! I have never had better tofu dishes!! Again, the dumplings were flavorful but the dough was thick. It was a very fun and interesting meal and we all enjoyed the variety of dishes including dessert.
Great place for groups!"

"I've had the great pleasure of dining at the Single Pebble five or six times now since I moved to the Burlington, VT area in 2009. I have been equally impressed with each experience. The food is delicous and the Lychee Martini is a must!"

"I always vastly enjoy dining at A Single Pebble, if only for their Mock Eel. But while it is a highlight, that particular dish is only one of many reasons why A Single Pebble is such a great place to eat. I have yet to try a dish I did not enjoy, and their style of tables sharing dishes is remarkably refreshing... and a good excuse to try everybody else's food! I request A Single Pebble by name whenever planning a nice dinner in Burlington."

"My Husband and I now live out of town and only enjoy a dinner here twice a year or so now. When we arrived at the table we were enthusiastically welcomed back, "It's so good to see you again!". "Food was great! Lipstick on the glass, not so great. But did not bother me enough to outweigh the fantastic sesame setan. I loved the food. It was a bit pricey, but I didn't leave feeling shorted. Waitstaff were patient and informative."
