Accademia Di Vino Reviews List

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"My wife and went a few weeks ago and had a great server who, since it was our first time, really took the reins and guided our meal (based on things we like or were thinking about on the menu), which was great. He insisted we try the truffle pizza for a starter, and I would insist you do the same. It was AWESOME (and mushrooms are one of the few things I don't eat--I know, truffles are different, but still)! They have an extensive wine list, including many by the glass, which was nice because we switched it up each course to pair appropriately. I would definitely recommend it and will be back myself."

Review 3 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The food is incredible. And I will return. That said I would not return for the service. Mediocre at best. Just as bad as my first visit there two years ago. Hostesses were lukewarm...almost rude. My glass of wine went empty well into my main course. My entree went cold as I waited not only to order the wine, but to deliver it after ordering. Ridiculous. Dessert menus dropped on the table with not a word. Finally when I inquired about the seating on my way out, hoping to ensure I could avoid the night's claustrophic section on my next visit, I got a very defensive response from what appeared to be a manager. Academia Di Vino is fortunate that the menu and location carry them because the service is the pits."

Review 5 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"Our waiter seemed to think that he had to gt us out of the resaurant as quickly as possible no break between courses. The check arrived before we even asked for it.
I have been here many times before and ususally I would say that they are on the slower side.
The restaurant wasn't even full!! I did complain to the manager who was less that apologetic. I will think twice about going again

Review 10 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Our server was amazing and I had the skirt steak, which was quite honestly, the best I have had since Paris, where they really know how to do a skirt steak.

Plus, we went on a Monday night which is half off every bottle of wine over 80 dollars. We had a 200 dollar bottle of Barolo for a relative steal. AMAZING wine list; Italian which is always a treat after everyone focusing on other, newer places.

Review 18 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"Good food, but not prepared for a busy night. Went on Valentines day- where there was a 5 course pre-fixe menu for 75/ per person, including half bottle of champagne per couple. As the restaurant was pretty busy, they ran out of glasses- we were given small tumblers for water glasses and they only had wine glasses for the champagne. They forgot our bread basket until midway through the meal. The 5-courses were all small plates, with smaller than usual portions including half bowl of pasta and the the filet mignon was maybe 3oz. We ordered the dessert part of the course to-go and they gave us the check and forgot to give us the desert. I believe the place has potential but couldn't do it right on a big night of the year."

Review 29 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"LOVED the restaurant itself; both the menu and wine list were spectacular. The service, however, was less stellar. The majority of the staff was moving at a pace just short of a sprint and it seemed like at any moment there could be a collision of catastrophic proportions. It was also EXTREMELY loud. The majority of the interior is made up of hard surfaces, further amplifying the sound. Overall, if it were less busy (i.e. NOT 8:30pm on a Saturday night), I would imagine the experience to be MUCH better."

Review 32 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"Deep selection of Italian wines, mostly overpriced or expensive. Food can be spotty, e.g. the pizzas are excellent, the pasta was good whereas the grilled leeks were unacceptable and escarole salad turned out to be lettuce salad. The swordfish special turned to some-other-fish special when we asked about it. The chef needs to keep a closer eye on the execution. Service is geared to turning the tables over, even when the restaurant is not full -- they'll pull the unfinished appetizers away to bring the main courses when those come out."

Review 35 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I'm very big on both Accademia locations as well as sister restaurant 'Cesca. All have relatively simple Italian fair very well executed. Speciality of ADI is thin-crust pizza sometimes with combinations that seem little odd and even off-putting on the menu but, man, are they delicious. The pate pizza is a must try. Excellent wine list. A little pricey but bottles half price on Mondays makes one of these restaurants regular haunt for me on that day."

"Overall our experience was good. I came here with a friend who was in from out of town for dinner on a Saturday Night. Our dinner reservations were for 9:15pm. We had been busy sight seeing all day so we made our reservations late. Apparently the restaurant closes around 11pm because we were one of the last couple tables in the place. The servers and staff were staring at us hoping that we would finish soon which made it uncomfortable near the end of the meal. We felt we needed to hurry because they wanted to close. Other then rushing near the end, they have a very notable wine list and some reasonably priced menu items."

Review 37 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"I went there with my wife on new year´s eve and we decided to go along with their special menu for the occasion, which included a wine degustation for each particular course. Everything went great unitl the main course, when - by mistake or not - they served us a second 2nd course meal rather than the main course for which we had been waiting for. We ate the 2nd course meal to see where they were going and after that they sure offered us desert, but did not even mention the main course! I promptly complained with the waiter, and after a while they finally sent us the main course, not without pouring too little wine in our glasses to go along the main course...I mean, come on! You would expect better service for a $350 bill!"

Review 38 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We had a late dinner on New Year's Eve. I was impressed that we were seated on time given how very busy the restaurant was. Due to no fault of the restaurant, we were seated at a table next to an extremely loud and obnoxious man. My quiet request to be reseated was honored within a short period of time, and we enjoyed our subsequent meal very much. The menu offered was the usual one plus a prix fix at $85. Notably, we were allowed to order anything off the prix fix menu without ordering the whole thing. Having the choices we did seemed quite customer friendly and was much appreciated. our dinner was excellent.

I also must mention the always outstanding wine list and great choices by the glass.

Review 39 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"The food is very good, maître d’ was super friendly and accommodating but once you get to your table you're just left to starve to death! Management here does a good job in most areas, however their missing the boat with the food servers. The waitress and the server barely checked on us and the warm feeling prior to sitting down was gone. If the waitress and servers were more attentive like the rest of this place, then this restaurant would be outstanding. Lastly, if you're a big wine connoisseur then you'll love their wine list. They say first impressions are vital, so I don't think I would return here but you never know."

Review 40 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We just can't understand the few negative reviews we have seen. Service was attentive and eager to inform, everything was timely, the variety of dishes we chose included nothing but winners, and we felt "cared for" throughout. Servers were responsive and never intrusive. The very well chosen wine list had plenty of bottles in what New York considers "reasonably priced," though of course you are free to pay what you want at the upper end. We had a bottle of very pleasant Sicilian white for $38, cheaper than buying four separate glasses! Go, Enjoy."

Review 43 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"This restaurant gets better and better. For people who haven't acquired a taste for brussels sprouts and those who've never had them FRIED, this is a side dish not to be missed. And the special tagliolini with beef and veal ragu is outrageously good. Different takes on Italian food, all excellently prepared."

"Did not have an enjoyable experience and the wait staff was rude and unhelpful. Brought a group of people from out of state there for the first time and it became a stressful dinner instead of fun and enjoyable. The place is also very loud to have a conversation."

"It's been my experience that many people only leave reviews if they have something negative to say. My experience at Accademia Di Vino was excellent. Review 53 for Accademia Di Vino

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The noise level seems to have escalated, even though we went early (7PM). It's almost impossible to talk to a companion across the table now. We ordered the daily special (halibut), which was dry (no sauce -- we asked for lemon). The waiter should've mentioned the price, which was about $10 more per entree. We were shocked at the bill. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I'm not sure I'll go back."
