"I was skeptical about Cite because they obviously have a great view. Most view restaurants do not need to have great food, because enough people come for the view. But once seated and given the menu, I was immediately impressed. The menu was fantastic, and almost every dish was appealing to me. The tasting menu was more than I wanted to spend for the night, but our server was able to hook us up with the main dish from it. It was Chilean sea bass and it was exquisite. One of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. The steak Diane appetizer was wonderful. The bread service was nice. The potato gratin with parmesan and truffles was divine. A great dinner and a great experience. Incredible service too. Only downside was the heat."

"Cité was fantastic! The service was very well established for the restaurant style. No over enthusiasm, and nothing but friendly from the host stand to the expo staff. (Not to mention, our server kind of looked like Bradley Cooper. I had taken my sister for her first time in Chicago and we both enjoyed the Chef's Tasting Menu, and I personally found the choice the greatest meal (except the tomato and basil garnished salad) to be something to tell everyone about. Even better was, when dessert came out the timing match perfectly with Navy Piers firework show (Wednesday and Saturday nights) and we were able to enjoy our creme brulèe while watching the fireworks burst over Lake Mighigan. Outstanding, absolutely outstanding."

"Is great to go about once every 7 years. Wonderful view of Chicago skyline, North Lake Shore Drive and setting sun.
Food is OK, but not at all worth what it costs. $230 meal was comparable to $120 ad dozens of other great Chicago restaurants. But the view? Cannot get that anywhere else, except perhaps the 95th."

"The food was not very good for the price. We ordered the tasting menu and the shrimp was rubbery, the tomato/mozz salad and bisque were ok but the filets were so charred on the outside, it was hard to cut. My dinner companion didn't even eat hers. The dessert was fine - nothing special.

The server didnt educate us about anything on the menu - he just said he suggests the tasting menu and we had to stop him from walking away to order wine. No one actually asked us if we wanted drinks. Thought that was strange since I've worked fine dining before and that is an important step of service.

Overall, the experience was pretty disappointing. For the price, there are other places in the city with nice views that I will go next time."

"Our family enjoy eating at different establishments . Most are 4or 5 star restaurants. We went to Cite for the view and hoping to have a great meal. We were the last group to arrive. The burners were turned off on food, so the food was cold. They offered to reheat it in the kitchen. Workers were nice but obvious they wanted to leave. The employees were sitting at tables so when we came to eat at buffet they had to get up to serve us. Manager offered us a free glass of champagne because food was cold and we felt rushed. Great view just be aware if you go last hour your food is cold and you will not feel welcomed. There were 7 adults in our party. Our bill was 800 dollars for a 1.5. Hour cold brunch."

"Cité was the finest dining experience we have ever enjoyed. Our server, Ootsi, was very personable and knowledgeable. He really cared about making it an evening to remember. We started with a fantastic bottle of wine and Prawns DeJonghe. The chef sent out a tasting of garden fresh gazpacho. I opted for the Lobster Bisque and my husband chose the Baked French onion soup. We each had the Waygu Strip, mine Oscar style and the other with scallops. We chose lobster orecchiette and cheese and sautéed spinach with garlic and almonds. The food was phenomenal.

We could not actually make it to dessert however, Ootsi had the bartender prepare each of us a small ice cream cocktail. It was an evening we will always remember fondly. Highly recommended."

"Restaurant de Chicago situé au 60e etage a cote du Navy Pier. Vue exceptionnelle sur le lac Michigan et la ville de Chicago. Restaurant en cercle, mais non tournant. Les tables sont presque toutes sur le bord de la fenêtre. Demandez-en une! Brunch de Paques vraiment excellent. Brioches, muffins, Salades originales, saumon fume delicieux, pattes de stone crabe, poisson, jambon, boeuf, omelettes faites devant vous, fromage divers et le standard avec oeufs, bacon, saucisses. La table des desserts est limitee mais tous tres bons. On cherche le pain, il n'y a pas de table pour ca et c'est dommage.
Par ailleurs relativement cher, mais on paye pour la vue fantastique et une table originale et delicieuse. Attention au Mimosa a 16$!

"I entertained a business group (of 7) on Saturday, March 16th and had a wonderful experience. Some of us ordered the Chef's menu which was 5 (or 6) courses. Each course was better than the last. Some ordered off the menu and said their menu items (steaks, scallops) were some of the best they had ever had. The food was phenomenal!! Even better than the food was the service. Our server was extremely knowledgable and timely; our bartender was helpful with wine selections, and the head chef and owner all stopped by our table. I would have liked some lower priced wine options ( the cheapest bottle was $56!) but this is the only negative I coud find for the entire evening.Don't forget your wallet...this place will set you back a bit."

"It's alright. I honestly expected a little more from them. Nothing was really stellar, just kind of average. Service was surprisingly lacking. Didn't get bread until after we ordered and they left our unused wine glasses on the table for half of our meal. Nice to try, but won't be coming back."

"I was very disappointed with the service. Instead of attending a classy upscale restaurant I felt I was greeted with the service expected from a pub. The hostess looked bored and barely smiled as she walked us to our table. Our waiter was over the top, brash, loud and rude. We wanted a quiet low key dinner but his behavior really affected the mood and setting of the whole experience. He insulted my order and made a forceful recommendation which quite honestly... started the ruin of the whole experience. Towards the end of my meal he loudly escorted a group of three of his friends who came in wearing jeans... I don't understand how he was able to obtain a position at cit'e with such an unprofessional manner. I will not return."

"Second time there. Overall a very good experience each time. The pacing of the meal is a bit too fast for a fine dining place like this (sometimes I felt like I was in a coffee shop at weekday lunch time or Sunday after church breakfast--hustle me in and out). The portions could be a bit smaller too, at least when it came to my appetizer. I chose the petite steak diane. It was delicious, but the amount of steak I got didn't seem to make it very petite. Given the pace of the meal, I was still feeling very full by the time my entree arrived-lamb chops with braised shredded lamb shank. I couldn't finish it and barely touched my broccoli side dish. Waiter mixed up other side dish but gave us dessert at N/C to make up for it."

"Our dining experience at Cite Chicago on February 16th was the worst fine dining experience we've had in the 10+ years living in Chicago. Every year for our wedding anniversary we try to go to a different fine dining restaurant and we regret that we chose Cite Chicago. When we first entered the restaurant we weren't even greeted. The hostesses all had poor attitudes. When I gave my name and asked if any of them had read the notes that I wrote in the online reservation I was told by one of the hostesses "no, we're busy, we don't have time to read customers online reservations". We were moved 4 times, it was extremely hot in the restaurant (so hot I had no desire to drink my bourbon based drink), and water service was slow."

"One of the most beautiful views anywhere in the city! This is an elegant restaurent with an extensive wine list and an interesting menu.

The appitizers, soup and desserts lived up to my expectatons for a first class restaurent, but the main course - a filet perfectly cooked to the requested medium rare, was served at no more then room temperature and the accompanying sides were barely warm. It was as if they had been sitting around for quite a while before being served.

Service was efficient and non-intrusive. I will return to this restaurent again, if only for the view, but I do expect the problem with the food to not be repeated."

"Have been to Cite before and, in the past, the service was much better. Our waiter seemed far more interested in the larger parties than checking in with us. The food was good and portions appropriate, but the dessert menu left a lot to be desired (been better in the past). For the price, the service, ambiance, and food should have been better.

Also, I had called ahead and asked for a window view. I was told when I called they were doing their best to accommodate my request. "Food was good but took way to long. We were 45' at the table with nothing but water and wine.
I requested a table when booking weeks in advance. The table was not available and in fact we were placed next to a mirror instead of the window. After some complaining we were moved to a better table later.
The appetizers were inconsistent, some better than others. The entrees were all very good, we tried lobster and filet mignon. The desserts were ok, far from great.
You pay for the view. For that price point you can get better food and much better service in other restaurants in Chicago."

"The overall experience was unique, mostly because of the ambiance. The waiter was courteous but service was slow and it wasn't packed at all. The prices are a bit high and not fantastic, but you pay for the view. You have to go there at least once to see the unique Chicago views of Navy Pier. For what we paid, and the slow service, don't think we'll be retuning."

"Cite was overall wonderful. We were there for my boyfriend's birthday and they insisted on bringing out a special champagne toast and dessert. Not to mention they also brought out complimentary oysters with caviar. While delicious, I thought the food was overpriced for what it was, however the view made up for everything."

"Cite was romantic and the view of LSD and Navy Pier at Nite is gorgeous. The problem was the food/service. We both Ordered steak med well mine was dry his was bloody....We asked for onions and horseradish on the side...weHad to ask twice. It took them a while to realize they were Out of the wine we originally suggested... waiter did offeranother in same price range. We had recently gone to 3 forks and Del Friscosfor steak.... "This was my wife and I's second visit to Cite. This time we were seated by the interior wall rather than by the window so it was not quite the view had for our first trip, but still seeing the Chicago night skyline from the 70th floor was quite spectacular. Foodwise, our dishes were excellent (I had the duck and she had the scallops) and the service outstanding. It is on-par with some of the other high end Chicago restaurants. Ambiance was quiet and great for special occasions. We will likely visit again in the future."
