"I have eaten at morimotos many times. Food is generally great. Service our last visit was subdued at discrete. Very nice. I find it sometimes too hurried. Great dining should never be force fed but some blend of American speed but European reserve. We were to have dinner at 9:15 but our plane was late. I asked to slide until 10:00 and we were told it would be 10:15. We arrived at 9:45 and were seated immediately and almost no one came in after us. I have never understood why restaurants feel that need."

"The food was outstanding, our waitress was extremely knowledgable about the ingredients and entrees and the portions were more than we expected! Our nine year old son said it was the best Asian food ever!! We will be back in the future!!"

"Wine Spectator did a feature on Sushi so I thought I would try this establishment as it was on their list of TOP sushi gems. The decor is absolutely fabulous. On a Thursday night is quiet . The manager stopped by out table several times to say hello an make us feel welcomed. The food was great after tofu we had the foie gras and the toro tartre.
The rest of the evening was followed by a sashimi, sashimi and maki rolls. The cilantro gimlet was cool and refreshing."

"As the place is designed in classy Japanese style it feels immediately good if you have people I vited or just a suprise dinner with your girlfriend / boyfriend.
The food is really top and delicious. A great contrast with our dinner in the RAW...
Service was correct and friendly but our botlle wine came a little bit late...

"Our appetizers were unbelievable. The King Crab app and Lobster Ceviche salad were the best part of the meal. We ordered the Wild Striped Bass and the Monkfish Nabe. Both were very good, but nothing extraordinary in taste or presentation. I expected more from this level restaurant at this price point. Dessert was an absolute disaster. We ordered the Mary Jane Brownies and honestly my 10 year old daughter can bake a better brownie from a box than what was served to us. The brownie was so dry and tasteless. It was a huge disappointment. Unfortunately, we went from 'blown away' to 'are you kidding me' leaving us with just an average experience. I would not return to this restaurant as there are plenty of other options to explore in the city."

"I am tempted to say that there is no where else in Philly with service like this. We were stuck on 76 trying to get to Morimoto for our reservation and could not get there. I called from the road and let them know i was running late. We had a table waiting for us and the wait staff treated us like royalty."

The first feel of entering Morimoto is of a club like trendy atmosphere. The tables line the walls for two person seating with the center being occupied by 4+ and the overall feel is trendy and a bit packed. The food was very well presented and quite good. We did the chefs tasting and found it very different and fun! My wife is not overly adventuresome and while there were items she did not care for it was not due to the quality of the food. Even then she finished 3/4 of the portion. Overall very fun! Morimoto was present at the bar eating which was neat as well!"

"The food was creative but the service was slow. We ordered the tasting menu and it took one and a half hours to get the first course. I mentioned it to the manager and she told me that if I was out of my seat I wouldn't get the meal and never came back to apologize or mention what had happened. I guess when you have a "good thing" you don't need to explain imperfection."

"Brought wife to the restaurant to celebrate birthday. It was my 6th time visiting, and her 2nd. Was seated immediately, and waited on promptly. Suggestions were given, but I think we had already made up our mind as to what we were ordering. Food came out promptly, and when we wanted it (entrees were held until we were ready). Everything was as expected, and then some. Will definitely dine again when I get the chance."

"Morimoto has a very young, hip, urban vibe. I wore a ruffled sheath dress and my husband a sport jacket and tie and I felt overdressed and dowdy. Lots of people wore jeans. My husband and I ordered the omakase because we were celebrating a special occasion. There was little difference between the $120 and $150 versions (we got one of each). The food was good but not great. Some of the sauces and dressings with the courses were very interesting but the fish quality was no better than what I get in my rural hometown. "This was a business lunch with clients, the restaurant was not crowded so it was easy to talk. The decor is modern with subdued lighting but not difficult to see. The wait staff was extremely attentive, and all dishes were presented in a very efficient and aesthetically pleasing manner. The menu reflects the head chef's interests in Japanese cuisine, and everything was delicious. We all tried the tempura, which was a mix of vegetables and fish with one piece of bacon-wrapped mozzarella, all of which was delicious, and the portion sizes were just right. The miso soup and salad that came with the meal were tremendous, and we left quite satisfied. Given the price range I wouldn't go there all the time, but overall great experience."

"I felt the omakase lunch at $60 did not live up to the price point. The various courses of sashimi wasn't as creative as I would have liked. The sushi was mediocre at best, unfortunately. My dining partners had the lunch set, which I would highly recommend. Our server suggested that they upgrade from the miso soup to the chicken noodle soup, which was delicious. The chicken katsu was quite filling as was the tempura. I would order the lunch set in the future."

"The Omakase was a great way to try some new items that we wouldn't have thought to try from the menu. We were told to expect 6 courses. A couple were truly extraordinary, and a couple were a bit disappointing like the plum soda course (that was the most expensive $10 shot of flavored soda ever). For $80, I expected a bit more ... more courses or more exotic / interesting ingredients. Overall a great experience and would recommend a visit for a date. Really romantic with the ever changing hues of the booth walls."

"Our experience at Morimoto was outstanding! We specifically chose it as a celebratory dinner spot, and it delivered on all measures. My fiance and I were visiting the area, and were wowed by the quality of the food. One of the things I enjoy about fine dining done right is its ability to have you delight in new flavors or textures of things you've had before. Morimoto excels in this area. The batter used in the rock shrimp tempura appetizer was the lightest, and most crisp I had ever tasted. My fiance and I shared the chefs choice sushi platter for $80, and devoured the best sushi we've ever had. (This price point is plenty of sushi for two people.)"
