In the heart of Manhattan, located in Rockefeller Plaza comes yet another icon EMPIRE STEAK HOUSE. Created by the prominent founders of BEN AND JACK’S STEAKHOUSE, Empire Steak House offers one of the best prime beef dishes out there, the porterhouse. "Overall the experience was good. What did stand out was the level of service, multiple waiters services us throughout the night, and our primary was simply fantastic. Porterhouse for three was perfect. Dessert, chocolate mousse pie with Oreo cookie crust was pure decadence. So creamy and rich. Service was attentive and first rate. Prompt, courteous and helpful, never rushed. Decided to go here rather than 21 because jackets not required. Very happy with our choice."

"Having trouble understanding why this place isn't on everyone's radar!Was quiet when we walked in but filled up later in the evening. Excellent food , wonderful service. Had to do a doubletake upon the first bite of porterhouse , just to be sure I wasn't in the famous Brooklyn steakhouse!Very similar in many ways in some cases BETTER!Ceasar salad done very well. Baked clams superb.Creamed spinach very very good. Home fries were excellent , not over done nor over seasoned. Staff was very accomidating & not over bearing . I dare even say priced quite reasonably,especailly for a steakhouse. If I could afford it , would eat here weekly , will settle for monthly ! Certainly one of the top NYC steakhouses!"

"It must have been a slow night. Four different waiters came to our table throughout the meal.. I was not happy with my first martini, it was not made the way I specified, when asked by one of the four waiters, I explained why I was not satisfied. He served me my second martini and it was perfect. So the waiters do listen. I have been to many steakhouses and this one sits in the middle."

"This was the second time we dined here. The first time, the porterhouse steak for two was amazing! We raved about it; so this time, we took our friends. The steak was not as amazing as the first time, but it was still very good. The STEAK SAUCE, though... Soooooo good!!! The german potatoes were a bit charred again. The pieces that weren't charred, were good (especailly with some of the steak sauce on it!). The house salad was very good, too.
The dining room had a very nice atmosphere. No loud crowds. A bit intimate, so you can go as a couple (nice date spot) and/or you can go with great friends who are couples, too."

Initially I thought it would overtly expensive. However, prefix for two was reasonably priced. The filet was done to perfection as well as my dates steak (I happily tasted it over and over). Appetizers were also great, particularly the soup we had. dessert, particularly the cheesecake , was delicious. The manager/ maitre'd and waiter were very courteous and charismatic. I was overall very please and will make my way back in the future."

"This restaurant was very nice. The food was good and the service was amazing. I came here with a friend and we both loved how the servers did not rush us. That right there would make me go back again. I hate being rushed after dinner. The food was cooked well and the drinks were strong. Great place to have dinner"

"They were very accommodating...we called to say we were running late due to traffic, although they were very busy with people waiting for tables, they held our table and still were able to get us out in time for our show. We choose from the restaurant week menu, which had a wide variety of items and portions were good (except for the fresh mozz and tomato...only one piece of mozz and two slices of tomato)....a good dining experience and I would recommend it to friends!"

"Disappointed because a private party took up all the seating space in the main dining room so we had to sit upstairs-- a small space. However it was quieter, but not so attractive.
The porterhouse for 2 was delicious and the creamed spinach was cooked to perfection."

"It was Super Bowl time when I went so it wasn't crowded at all, even thought there was a TV showing the game. Because of this, I'd say my dining experience should not be compared against normal nights. That said, my filet mignon was quite good. The thick bacon was palatable as well, although I've had better at other steakhouses. The service was respectable overall. It was a little unnerving to see the wait staff mulling around because business was slow that night. I felt like hurrying up so they can clean up and go home early."

"I had a good experience the only upsetting thing was I presume since it was busy we waited a while to be seated and we also had to wait on our waiter to return to our table. Lastly, the dessert menu on the restaurant week website and from the restaurant menu wasn't accurate in that the waiter took our dessert order of what was printed on the menu as well as the website but when he returned from the kitchen we were informed that what we could order from the prixe fixed menu was totally different then what was listed. My party wanted cheesecake, carrot cake and tiramisu. What false information on the restaurants behalf. Overall the experience was okay they just need to work on the said information mentioned above"

"restaurant week.We arrived earlier than our res and sat right away. Ordered the bacon and fresh mozz.,NY sirloin and Filet,& Choc Mousse & cheesecake with a $35 Pinot Noir wine special. The waiters were courteous, always offering fresh pepper & cleaned the table off in between each course. Wine glasses were never empty, & they all worked together to make sure the meal flowed nicely.
Not once did I feel rushed throughout the meal! The fresh mozz is typical, the bacon was thick cut and scrumptious. The steaks were both perfectly cooked, & served with mushrooms on the side. Both of our desserts were delicious. The portion sizes were incredible, & we had such a good time that not only will we recommend it- we'll be back!"

"We went in intially having high expectations based on all the online reviews. It took a while for the waiter to show up, and when he finally did he seemed rather unenthused to be there. Our drink order came out wrong, our side dishes never came out, and the meats were of an inferior quality with a lot of fat. We were celebrating my birthday, and were going to begin our meal with a nice bottle of wine, have dessert, coffees and perhaps an after dinner drink as well. But considering that our table was ignored for the most part, and after the lackluster service we decided to just get the bill and leave and not spend anymore money there. The only positive was that later that evening the maitre'd called to apologize for the incomplete order."

"As far as steakhouses are concerned, I would give this one a B. Food was ok....nothing spectacular. Service was good to start, then once they got busy with lunch crowd, service level dwindled. Price was average. Ambiance was slightly "mafia" style. I would go again if invited but not by choice."

"My girlfriend and I went to Empire steakhouse for her birthday on february 1st at around 9pm. We also got lucky because it was during restaurant week. We had reservations and didnt have to wait long. We were sitting at the first table closest to the bar. The service was top notch and everyone was very friendly. The food was delicious for sure. My only complaint was that there was a large table next to us and the guys sitting there were being so loud that it ruined the romantic night we were trying to have."
