Jackson Fillmore Trattoria is a local favorite for a relaxed, neighborhood meal. Jack has been cooking up great Roman and Southern Italian food at Jackson Fillmore since 1985. We have a small, intimate dining room with a dining counter for those who drop by. Our wine list is primarily Italian, representing all of the great regions in Italy. Our Tortellini al Forno and Tiramisu are legendary. We have a sister restaurant in Marin County, Cucina Restaurant & Wine Bar in San Anselmo. "Jackson-Fillmore continues to be a neighborhood gem with attentive service, a very good wine list (try the Spanish wines for an especially good value), and good food. The food isn't quite as spectacular as it was a few years back but it is still good for the money."

"Great food and a cool Pacific Heights neighborhoody vibe. In fact, it's so neighborhoody that my observation was that regulars get clear preference- and the OpenTable reservation is sort of treated as a 'yeah, whatever.' Patrons even with an OpenTable reservation could be in the unfortunate position of having to wait a good long while- with no decent place to stand, ta boot.

Talking directly with owner Jack paid off for us, especially because we just let the initial shrug-sorry-can't-help-you reaction from him slide, like water off a duck's back. We smiled and sweetly persisted with the message that waiting 30-45 minutes for 2 seats at the bar didn't sound too good and- voila- Jack had a table for 2 brought & set up for us lickety spli"

"I have been eating here for almost 20 years and it is always reliable. The last visit we went late so it wasn't crowded and we got right in, which is rare because its usually crowded. A good, comfortable and reliable neighborhood Italian restaurant."

"all was very nice. First time ever waiter came back after we paid the bill andsaid "thank you". Food great, wine great, a little chilly until the place filledup with people, and then warm and cozy. Have loved eating there on trips to SanFrancisco. It really is a "little gem"."

"Jack overbooks the restaurant and then makes people wait for twenty minutes (minimum) for their table. Gone are the days when we'd be offered a complimentary glass of wine while waited; now we have to ask for a glass and the charge always seems to land on the bill. The food is still excellent, though we prefer to finish our appetizers and have the plates cleared before the entrees are brought out. The servers are rushed, and rely on the single busboy to check in on how the meal is going. As much as we like the place, and we have been going there since the mid 80's, we always feel rushed, and the excellence of the food is compromised by what feels like Jack's need to maximize the number of covers rather than a solid dining experience."

"Small, intimate place. The night we were there, a fair number of kids were there - but that phased out fairly quickly. It's a lively atmosphere. The service was better than average - we got a glass of wine while waiting for a table to open up and the waitress was very attentive."

"we were very thankful to have made reservations. there was a line waiting for tables the entire time we were there. The antipasto plate was delicious and the gnochi was to die for.
one of us ordered a remembered item from an earlier visit that wasn't on the menu, they were very willing to make it and it was great, a balsamic chicken dish."

The tortellini was dry and crunchy (probably from baking the dish to melt the cheese on top) and the other entree's at the table lacked flavor and were lukewarm. The service was great. "Great place; been going there since the first night they opened Dec. 24th, 1985, with my two daughters, then 8 and 4. Last night was my birthday and the 8yo is now 32 and my grandson was there. It was great to see Jack again. The only issues I had was that I felt rushed and that feeling was fostered by the entre being brought to that table while the starters were still there and that the check was brought to the table before we were finished. Two no-nos in my book. Otherwise great to be back there after a many-year hiatus."

"I always thought this was a different place. THis is a nice neighborhood old school Italian restaurant with a bit of a Spanish flare. Beware of the wine list, we had a hard time picking one that was good. The Host/Owner wanted us to get this "great deal" wine that did not taste good at all.
A bit pricey, but I think it is the location. No reason to go out of your way to come here, but if you are in the 'hood, then it's OK."
