"We had been before at a previous location. This location was smaller and more cramped. My husband and I were being seated near a group of high schoolers and did not want to sit near that noise level on our date night. We ended up sitting at the bar to eat."

"Once again Kurt and his crew greeted us with a nice array of food from both the sea and on-land. Oyster shooters were a nice treat along with lobster, crab, smoked fish, perfectly prepared prime rib, ham, and lamb. The salads, cold cuts and cheeses were all a hit as well. Wrapping the meal up with strudel and smores cookies was perfect."

"I have been to this establishment on many occasions. I really enjoy the genuine, yet relaxed, atmosphere. The food is top notch and fresh. My favorite is the filet, which is served with 6 different sauces, housed in separate compartments on the plate. If you like the combination of German dishes with the east of France, in a comfortable setting, this might be your spot. I will return. Many times."

"Bring a little of Germany into your life. Authentic food from Germany in a small bistro atmosphere. One of the few places to get really good spaetzel!"

"We have been enjoying Kurts for 20 years. The food is consistantly excellent. The service is very accommodating. The only place in Atlanta for authentic German food."

"This German food is very good. All kinds of German dishes are to enjoy. The potato salad is worth the drive by itself.
The service for the most part is very good, though on a busy night, sometimes it falls down a bit.
The bananas foster is delicious, but by the time Kurt gets around to making it, the ice cream has melted and there for, all one can enjoy is bananas and cream which is not the desert you ordered."

"This was our first time at Kurt's and we would highly recommend this place to our friends. The service was excellent and the food was great. We ordered fish which was so fresh and they made it spicy for us. Absolutely loved it. The prices were also very reasonable. Even their small portions were enough for sharing and some leftover to bring home. We were 3 of us.Definitely we will go back and it is very close to home as well."

"We have been to Kurt's at least 6 or 7 times and have enjoyed every visit. It is refreshing to interact with the actual owner instead of a nameless, faceless big restaurant group. (Kurt is very charming and funny). He has done a great job of mixing classic German food with lighter Bistro fare, and the wine list has some very well priced gems. Living on the North side doesn't mean you have to drive to Midtown or Buckhead to have a great dining experience."

"Wonderful for neighborhood dinner place. We don't bother going anywhere else. We don't eat much meat, and it is a German restaurant, so it's a fun change---but has delicious salmon and alternatives also. But once we just ordered a lot of vegetable side dishes and small plates and were tickled at how delicious that was! Don't really want to give away our secret, but it's different from the average restaurant around north suburban Atlanta. Kurt and Vereny are gems! And if you don't go there, we will actually be glad because then we can get last minute reservations!"

"Food was amazing. Best food I've had in Gwinnett. Great beer list. Delicious hand cut steak. Decadent black Forrest cake. You must try this place. So glad I found it. Will be back next time I'm in Gwinnett. Our server was so funny and sweet. She made me miss my mom. :)"

"Discovered this gem of a restaurant through a scoutmob deal. The food was excellent and the wait staff was excellent! We loved the fact that our waitress was not a high school kid, but rather someone who had been a waitress for years and knew that if our water glass was empty to refill it before it was empty. I ordered a bistro salad, red cabbage and weinersnitzel with spaetzle all of which I would high recommend to anyone. It is a small restaurant, so I recommend making a reservation especially if you are planning on going on the weekend. From the time we sat down, til the time we left, it took a total of 42 minutes and we didn't feel rushed at all. We will definitely be going back!"

"I am so disappointed that I didn't know about Kurt's Bistro sooner. This place is an absolute hidden treasure if you are looking for authentic German cuisine. The interior had a lovely ambiance and there was a large patio for outdoor dining. They are also set up for live music on the patio during the warmer months. The worst part of the meal was trying to narrow down my choice of what to eat. So many wonderful options. My sister selected several of the "small plates" for her meal. Everything we had was flavorful and well-portioned for the price. They may have some of the best sauerkraut I've ever eaten. They have a large wine list and a divine dessert menu. Highly recommend the bananas foster. Can't wait to go again."

"What a wonderful dining experience. I really wish that we could just pick it up and deposit the restaurant and all of the fantastic employees right in downtown Columbia, S. C. If I am ever in the Atlanta area again I won't miss the chance to stop for dinner. Thank you for being so attentive."

"We have dined at Kurt's previously and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. If you like authentic German food, this is the place. The only fixable issue/suggestion I have is with the acoustics. It would be nice if the sound level was baffled a little bit in the main dining room. The other "irritation" which I know nothing can be done to correct is the "screaming/crying baby" syndrome. I continue to fail to understand why parents think it is OK to bring in young children to a nicer restaurant when the chances are pretty high they will get restless and, naturally, they will express their restlessness in a manner totally inconsiderate to the other diners...It's the parents' fault, not the kids."

"Our first visit was not overly memorable. The wiener schnitzel and spaetzle were adequate but by no means the best we have ever had. We did have exceptional service and the ambience was above average."

"The food, drink and atmosphere created a memorable experience - definitely a neighborhood gem. Ordered the Wienerschnitzel and Kurt's Pilsner - both were outstanding. Server attentive but not too intrusive. Great German atmosphere. My husband and I always look forward to dining here. If you don't have a reservation, more than likely you will need to eat in the bar. The Saturday night we were there the bar was crowded also. Very nice experience."

"If you have a hankering for authentic German food this is the place to go. Seasoned wait staff will take good care of you and are a pleasure to speak with. Many Germans eating here to get their fix from the motherland. Everything is done with an upscale twist without deviating from being authentic. Many steaks are also on the menu. Warm, cozy restaurant with a great beer selection (note: skip the miller lite and get a mug of some awesome German beer, I like the dark Spaten Optimator, to wash down that sauerbraten or schnitzel). Be sure to try the Spaetzle with cheese (WOW). The Bavarian Chocolate cake with cherries is delicious and large enough for half the restaurant to share. Kurt himself with prepare a flambé tableside for you!"

"We enjoyed the overall feel of the restaurant. We will be dining again most likely for special occasions or with out of town guests. Entrees included the Traditional Sauerbraten, Sauteed Shrimp and Sea Scallops, and the Stuffed Flounder (Specials Menu). Desserts included Black Forest cake and Apple Strudel. Samplings of each received very positive responses. Entrees and sides were well cooked, beautifully presented and hot. Service was attentive not overbearing. Wine and beer selections were good and prices reasonable. Owners made a point of being in the dining room throughout the evening."

"We have enjoyed Kurts for years, from the old location to the new Bistro one. Food is consistently good, especially if you like German (which is why we go). Love the Weiner Schnitzel and Jeager Schnitzel. Also love the Pork Shank but they tend to cook it to too long (it cooks all day) - so if you don't want it too dry call them and they will cook one more to your liking. Good selection of beers; I especially enjoy the smaller sample sizes (get to try several at once). Went to a wine tasting once as well and it was great. Kurt and Vreny are wonderful hosts
Highly recommend"
