"Not only is the food outstanding, but the servers are extremely well-informed about the menu. They can describe the meal perfectly and our server, John, was excellent with recommendations on food and wine. Always a perfect experience."

"We went for the first time for our anniversary. Menu had a fair selection. Trigger fish was delicious. Chicken my husband had was a little tough but good. Most surprising was that we had to hunt for our waitress a couple of times. Also, she would be at a table nearby and avoid eye contact or not check on us before whisking away from the other table. Rookie kind of service. We ate earlyish (6:00) on a weekday so they weren't that busy."

"I am sad to say we were disappointed in our anniversary dinner @ FIG. The food was very pricey considering the small portion size. Lastly would not recommend for families......Our children are good eaters and adventuresome. We ordered the gnocci and the waiter did not notice neither one would eat them. Oh well=("

"The meal was not quite a home run, but was certainly very good. The gnocci appetizer was SOOO good. My husband and I could not stop talking about it, even the next day. The onion soup appetizer was a disappointment. It sounded really good and the waitress likened it to a french onion soup. The beef broth was missing a depth of flavor and it was just not that good. My husband did not eat all of it and after the one bite I took to taste it, I didn't want anymore either. I got the grouper and liked it a lot. My husband ordered the hangar steak and enjoyed his as well. We got the sorghum cake with icecream. It was good but not mind blowing."

"We live in Ansonborough downtown and dine all over Charleston. Simply said, FIG is the finest dining experience in town. The food is spectacular and the menu is always evolving. The servers are a cut above in their knowledge of the food and customer service skills."

"FIG is my all time favorite restaurant in Charleston. I'm always so excited to see what will be on the menu since it changes daily. The dining experience is one to be remembered. It takes a true culinary master to create the dishes that are served!"

"One of the best dining experiences we have had anytime, anyplace. From the speciality cocktails to the apps(ham, pate) to the entrees(seafood stew, soft shell crabs) to dessert(shared pana cotta) everything was first rate. Excellent wine list. Our waiter John was knowledgeable, attentive and efficient and helped us with all selections."

"We were thrilled to get a reservation at Fig on our two week stay on Seabrook Island near Charleston. Even though we could only get in at 6:00 on a Thursday night we didn't care! This was Fig, after all. The food was very good, but we felt over priced for the portions. I had read about the nine vegetable salad and was not impressed ---it was literally nine vegetables and not much more---for $14.00? My husband ordered basically a pork barbeque--of course, that was not the name, but that was what it was. $30.00. He said it was a tapas portion. Don't get me wrong, we had a very good meal at a happening restaurant. We just went home and popped a giant bag of buttered popcorn to take off the edge."

"Food and service were very good - like many of Charleston's better restaurants. Compared to other restaurants of this caliber in town, it's about thirty percent more expensive, with no obvious reason. Good menu, good local ingredients, but a little heavy on the pork and pork products, like many who have "discovered" old southern cooking and flavors recently. Decent, but not spectacular wine list."

"Fig is a lovely restaurant in the Upper King area. Unfortunately, my entree was not warm, so I had to send it back. Heating it greatly improved the flavors. My husband should have done the same as he was very disappointed. Yet, when he tasted mine which was the same entree, he liked it better hot."

"Our last dining destination during a three day Charleston visit was FIG which stands for "Food Is Good". Boy was it ever--we had dined at some other Charleston standouts but experienced very uneven service. Our server at FIG was Morgan ----she was outstanding. Her wine knowledge, pacing of the meal, suggestions for what we might enjoy on the menu were spot-on. Jill started with the chicken liver pate---a silky smooth brick with nuances of cognac, cream and challots. It was more reminiscent of Foie than anything. I had a asparagus soup that was bright green and filled with chunks of bacon and shaved, blanched asparagus. Entrees were Capellini with clams and a Wagyu beef steak over legumes that melted in your mouth. 5 stars--don't miss"

"We've been patronizing FIG since it opened and were concerende that Mike Latta might be neglecting FIG for his new venture, The Ordinary. Well, FIG is not only holding its own as one of Charleston's signature restaurants, all three of us decided it was better than ever."

"Honestly, I have been told by so many people that FIG was their favorite restaurant in town. Couldn't wait to finally try it. It was very good and our waitress was excellent but I wasn't blown away. The mozzarella gnocchi and 9 vegie platter for appetizers and steak entree were the best. Drinks and wine were a disappointment and overpriced. Dessert was ok but not as good as Cru Cafe. Sorry"

"I have eaten at Fig several times. The food has always been wonderful as well as the service until my last visit. The pacing of the food was very slow. Several tables around us were seated after us and were served before us. It was quite frustrating. Nevertheless, the food was quite good! The management was apologetic and did comp the dessert."

"My wife and I have visited Charleston several times a year for several years and this was our first trip to FIG. We were very excited since we had heard such great things about FIG. I hate to say that I was disappointed. First, it took almost 2 hours for us to have dinner and we did not order appetizers or wine. We did order the 9 vegetable salad and it was very good. My wife and son ordered the Flounder and they said it was excellent. My son's girlfried had the steak and it was also excellent. I had the Wahoo and it was okay - it just did not wow me. Maybe my expectations were too high for this restaraunt. My wife and I have dined at most of the better restaraunts in Charleston and FIG is not in the Top 10."

"We ate at nice Charleston restaurants 7 straight nights and FIG was one of the best. The interior is simple but nice, almost saying "our food speaks for itself". In the end, while the service was top notch, the food was outstanding in its inventiveness, freshness, and combination of flavors. The fish was fresh, the seafood stew was amazing, and the pig confit was also terrific. For a really nice cocktail, try the Berlin Wall."

"Has become our favorite restaurant in Charleston. We definitely had the best appetizer that we have ever had in any of the Charleston restaurants. It was called Littly Tunny and was Skip Jack. We had originally ordered a different appetizer but the other party that was with us ordered it and we liked it so much that we added it to our meal. We have never had a bad experience there and the food is always outstanding."

"Delicious, fresh food that made for a truly delicious meals. But the service was truly what made it phenomenal - the server was incredibly knowledgeable about the ingredients, preparation, and taste of each item. She made great recommendations that made our meal even better. By far this was our best meal in Charleston!"

"Quite possibly one of the best meals we've ever eaten.
We were very surprised that very near us another table had small children that were almost loud, wasn't expecting that in this range of dining - but I'm not sure how you could prevent, either."

"Fabulous meal! I had the steak tartar and the fish stew and i couldn't be happier. The service was wonderful as well. One minor complaint is the tables are too closely spaced and that detracts from the overall evening. Getting a table here isn't easy but it is certainly worth it."

"Service was perfect. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and actually excited to have you there. It was like they know they are about to provide something amazing for you. kind of like when you gave your child their first bike for Christmas- you couldn't wait for them to open their gift. Food was as good as advertised. A great place to be adventurous. Who would have thought that shad roe could be so good! For the best dessert ever created, try the award winning sorghum"

"Very inventive and imaginative menu and excellent service. No one rushed usin spite of the waiting crowd. It was getting annoyingly noisy by the timewe left. The lighting was harsh and the decor very ho-hum, but the food was superb. Truly unusual was the sorghum cake with homemade cinnamon ice cream. So easyto over do cinnamon, but not here."

"The food here was everything I was told it would be. There is one item you MUST try and pairs with every dish......THE NINE VEGETABLE SALAD! This is, by far, the BEST salad I have evr had in my 47 years here on this earth. The dressing was just what the 9 veggies like to dabble in. The cocktails were perfect and the wait staff was very proud of where they worked, knowledgeable, and beautiful in their taking care of the customer. Deserves the KUDOS it has been given by others."

"Fig was one of several great restaurants we ate at while in Charleston. My only 'negative' is that they limit advanced reservations to 30 days (by phone or Open Table). And while I got a reservation booking exactly 30 days in advance, I still didn't get my preferred time. As good as the food is I don't need the hassle next time with so many other good choices to dine (On a Monday!)."
