"Our entire experience was wonderful. There are no surprises on the menu but mostly items one would choose for lunch. The Pelican Grill has such a beautiful view of the ocean and surrounding hills and one can eat and feel like one is on the Riveria. The food is good - the bread basket is very good! The fresh beet salad was excellent and the Asian Salad was good also. We will be back!"

"We had read on tripadvisor that this was one of the top resturants in Orange County. We were able to get a reservation in a short notice - so we went - mainly because of the advertising of the spectacular views. however probably because we didnt book in time- we didnt get a table with view of ocean. loved the big booths- but my husband didnt like the head chef yelling out the orders to the many chefs working in the cooking area which is in the middle of the eating area. the decor and room is spectacular. if we return to the area- i would plan ahead and request a table with view- it would be amazing to eat outside with the Pacific Ocean right there. the property is beautiful. liked that we could split dishes"

"The restaurant is in the best Bren tradition. Understated elegance. Some very private, quiet tables inside and beautiful view tables on the patio. The bar scene is active but far enough away from the dining room to not interfere with quiet conversation. First class all the way, including the pricey but extensive wine list."

"Came here for an anniversary dinner. Service was top notch, meal was well paced, and staff was attentive and conscientious. Although food was well prepared (steak was cooked perfectly, sea bass seared but tender, etc), the notes the flavors hit are definitely on the tame/mild side, although they are well balanced. There is also a large wine-by-the-glass selection, and our server gave us some great recommendations. The outdoor patio is heated with an array of overhead heat lamps, which makes even a chilly night cozy and comfortable. Overall, Pelican Grill offers delicious food and a wonderful location and experience, but for the price maybe we would have considered someplace else."

"The service and ambiance were great. The view on the outdoor patio is outstanding. The food was very good, just very over-priced for what you get. The reviews that mention cost are misleading. At least for dinner, this is quite an expensive restaurant. As it was a special occasion I didn't mind, but I doubt we will go again for a regular dinner."

"The truffle Mac and cheese was good. We didn't see our server much and sat with empty drinks for quite a while. The main dishes werejust ok and certainly seemed over priced based on the quality. Overall, it was ok. But there are many other places I would try before I returned to Pelican Grill."

"This was our first time at the Pelican Grill.
The interior decoration and ambiance was good. The service was very good.
We were disappointed with the quality of the warm spinach salad and salmon preparation.
Also, when we made the reservations we expressly mentioned our wedding anniversary and were surprised that there was no desert or anything else offered for the occasion.
Overall the prices were high in relation to the food quality."

"Had a great family room dining area inside for a table for 6.Even with a well - behaved 3 year old, we felt the ambiance with less anxiety about disturbance. She loved the sunflower in the center of the table and yes, we reminded her to use her inside voice :-)We were seated with other families at the user friendly early dining hour... Be sure to let them know ahead.They were so ready with crayons and sippy cup:-) and warm reception."

"We were visiting from Ohio and had requested a table with a view. We were given a fabulous table! All four dinners were excellent! The service was impecable.Your restaurant was the highlight of our trip for dinner. We also enjoyed an after dinner cocktail (and live music) in the bar. Kudos to the entire staff!"

"Has gone down hill. Food isn't as good as it use to be and it's seem even more expensive then before. Why does a grill have to give a $50.00 steack a drowning in sauce. Rib eye should have enough flavor on it own to not need a sauce."

"We had a lovely family dinner to celebrate a birthday. Everyone's meal was prepared well and the service was excellent. We tried to sit outside on the patio, but it was a cool night, and despite the heating elements we moved inside for the added comfort. The staff was very accomodating in the face of the inconvenience. Portions are somewhat small, but consistent with the standards of a restaurant like this."

"Salmon with skin turns me off! Under cooked, really not good. Sent back and then retunrned under candlelight, to only have the skin still there - not good!

Larry, our wiater, always fabulous. Music, soft and lovely. Ambiance on the lovely patio, to loud due to traffic - which we experience at our home. So will think twice before visiting again."

"Nothing special. The surf and turf featured an overlooked lobster tail and an over sauced filet. The lamb chops were cooked very well, but the fennel was over-cooked and the mint chimichurri was oily and broken. The crabmeat parfait appetizer was clearly premade and the flavors melded. The meal wasn't bad but it was fit more for a second tier chain than a five diamond resort."

"Very very nice staff all the way around. We felt welcomed and genuinely appreciated for our business. It was extremely expensive though. Open table had this place rated as a $30 and below, but there is no way you could get out of there for less than $75 person for dinner. I think Opentable should revisit the rating.

Anyway, I had the french onion soup and my mom had the iceberg wedge with blue cheese and a shrimp cocktail. It was delicious... worth the money."

"This is definitely a special occasion restaurant and is expensive. The setting is beautiful and the service was wonderful. Our meal was good but I wouldn't describe it as excellent and we probably wouldn't go back because of the expense. We had a half bottle of an average wine, two bowls of soup, two entrees, one desert and two cups of coffee and spent $180.00. When we spend that much money we expect exceptional food."

"I went here on a date with my boyfriend. The view was absolutely beautiful. We had a very relaxing and romantic two hour lunch. I will absolutely be going here again. It's an ideal place to take out of state company to enjoy a nice lunch and magnificent view of the California coast."
