"I went there for my birthday on a Saturday night and the place was jam packed! Through all the chaos the food and the service was still excellent! Everyone was nice and very efficient! Not only was our food good, but we were also seated quickly and our food came out extremely fast! They get two thumbs up from me!"

"While the food was top quality our service was absolutely terrible. It was really unfortunate that the server was allowed to add gratuity to our party of 9 when the service was really far below standard. I found it unaccpetable that we noticied the managers weren't really even helping any of the servers out when they seemed very busy. Again, the food was great but our female server probably came to our table 3 times the entire evening. Had to ask the manager to take our order, ask several times for refills (or to even bring our beverages in the first place). I asked for an order of fries for my child (who was starving becuase the food took forever) and the fries never arrived. Usually AFM is very good, doubt we will be back."

"We took clients and had a wonderful time, very friendly atmosphire from the front host to the busser. Cocktails arrived promptly as did the food. We each had a different selection, buffalo shrimp appy was fantastic as was the ahi carpaccio. Dinners were present with flair and each of us thought our meal was the best. There was a nice varity of wines to chose from with reasonable prices. Would return again."

"I had heard great things about this restaurant. We had a late reservation and the service was awful. Orders were incorrect. had to ask for beer and wine 3 times before getting it. I might try it again, but not so sure it's worth it.

"disappointing valet on rainy night! valet service signaled for our car to drive ahead of the "stop here for valet" sign, then left us there for over 2 minutes while we wondered what they were doing. they were not parking other cars, rather they were hanging out at valet stand. we finally backed up to where the sign stated to stop for valet and again they signaled us ahead. possibly towards 2 parking spaces (one was handicapped and the other for takeout patrons)? we self-parked in the takeout spot since it seemed they were not planning to park our car. guess since we arrived after 9pm they didn't want to valet? would have saved a lot of confusion if they would have stopped long enough to tell us explicitly where we should park."

"My first time attending the Atlanta Fish Market was on Valentine Day with my entire family. My mother drove from out of town for this special dinner. The dinner on Valentines day was great..we had the Ribeye and Lobster tail. We were very very pleased and decided to reutrn on her next visit which was 3/6/10. We were a little disappointed..we ordered the exact same thing as Valentines Day, only to find out the Lobster tail was considerably smaller than on 2/14/10 and the Ribeye wasn't as succulent either. I know its hard for lightning to strike twice but the Valentines day dinner was far far better than on 3/6/10."

"This is possibly the worst restaurant in Atlanta hands down. I would've rather thrown $70 bucks out of the car window! My wife ordered a seafood platter for $26.00 and it came with two pieces of Mahi Mahi, (with a nasty tangy sauce), half a crab leg, and two shrimp. I had the fish and chips, and chips were soggy and greasy and the fish was over battered. Our server was horrible as well, he would vanish for 30 mins at a time. We love Fogo de Chao and The Capitol Grill, if you are lovers of these places you will be extremely disappointed with the Atlanta Fish Market. The Oceanaire Restaurant is 300 percent better with the same prices!! Save your time, money, and stomach from this place."

"Overall AFM wasn't impressive. The whole place smelled very bad when you walked in and smoke was pretty bad. The website describes the dress code as Elegant... more people were in hoodies and jeans than looking nice. If you want a casual evening with decent seafood the place is ok, but the price (~$50+ pp) isn't worth it. If you are looking for romantic night go some where else."

"The food was great, but the service was inconsistent. There was 3 of us. My appetizer was brought out, but the others two were not. About two minutes later the entrees were delivered, and we were still waiting for the other two appetizers. They took the entrees back and then delivered the other two appetizers a few minutes later. Other than that the service was ok.

"My husband and I had a 7 PM reservation and were told when we checked in that the wait would be 5 to 10 minutes, but were not seated for 40 minutes! We followed up with the hostesses twice and each time were told our wait would not be much longer. The food was good, but we will not be going back to Atlanta Fish Market again. This restaurant should not accept reservations if they are unable to honor them!"

"Disappointed in the small selection available for restaurant week. BBQ Shrimp Appetizer was surprisingly a larger portion than expected and tasted great. I chose the blackened Mahi (bland) but I didn't like the N.O. gumbo combination with the fish. Cheesecake was great. I was fine with paying $25 for the 3 courses however had I paid more, I would've been very disappointed. That was my third visit however unless its a date or friend's selection I won't be returning as I believe the restaurant to be over-rated.....The restaurant was not "pushing" the restaurant menu. In fact, we had to request it and they only presented one per table. We had to share 2 menus between 8 of us!"

"This was a shoddy dining experience at best. We had a reservation but still waited 25 minutes to be seated. We were seated next to a loud and crowded service area although I requested a nice table as we were dining to celebrate a friend's birthday. The online Buckhead Restaurant Week menu was not fully available unless specially requested. Our server was friendly but inadequate.
This will make me STRONGLY consider whether dining at the Atlanta Fish Market for a special occasion (or ANY occasion to be frank) is a wise choice. :("

"The table we were first placed at was near the service station. Way too busy to enjoy the dining experience. The second table was much nicer. The tempature was a little on the cool side and loud mouthed children were also a discomfort. "I've dined at many restuarants from hole in the wall to upscale. This was a nice, moderate restaurant. Our food was good, the appetizers: tuna sushi and greek salad were very good, the entrees were ok, the scallops were outstanding. Dessert was yummy. The big problem - our waiter - he lurked over us constantly, always interuppting our conversation, unable to articulate his recommendations, which he forced us to take, we really didnt want them. He was pushy, when we didnt want drinks, he asked us about three times. The owner has 12 more restaurants in Atlanta - I'll try some of those before I go back to this one. By the way, I love opentable.com!"

"Not a very good dining experience. My wife and I both had the $25 three course meal. The disappointing part was that all the fish was breaded and we don't remember the menu indicating that. My wife's BBQ shrimp appetizer was breaded and so was both of our main course Fish Platters. My sushi and desserts were good. Service was weak - waiter was too bothersome. He was training a waiter and it seemed as if he was trying to show off how much he could check on us. It made for a less relaxing evening. Overall, a bad experience. We won't go to Atlanta Fish Market any time soon."

"The Atlanta fish market was nice and the food was good. Just plan on being patient and waiting if you plan to go on a busy night like valentines or something like that. if you don't like to wait then this wouldn't be the time to go for you. overall we had a pleasant experience. The only complaint I have is that the food we ordered was suppose to have scallops, shrimp and crab. The waiter said nothing when i ordered my entree, and nothing when it got to the table. I had to ask him when he came back where the crab was and that's when he let us know they had run out for the night. I chalked it up as a busy night (still no excuse, cause i would have liked to have ordered something else) but other then that the food was good."

"It has been a few years since dining here. A Christmas gift of an "Ultimate Dining Card" brought me back (along with my American Express card.) The entire experience left me feeling cheated. The daily special of soggy fish draped over tasteless string beans may have been tolerable had the glass of wine been delivered with the meal and not after. The server was very friendly and totally distracted. The web site claims upscale casual or business attire. Jeans, T-shirts and 2 year old children playing in the aisles is not "upscale". Dinner, 2 drinks and 2 glasses of inexpensive wine, for two, was over $100; not terribly expensive for fine dining in Atlanta but no excuse either."

Due to relying on a hotel shuttle, we arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation...."No problem, we have a table available!" "Our server was just OK. She didn't tell us about the specials - I didn't know there were specials until I heard another server telling his table. She didn't ask to fresh up my coffee with dessert. For an upscale restaurant, the hostess was shouting out names as tables were ready instead of using the buzzers, which were available. Don't like the $2 valet charge. If you are going to force me to valet then I should tip whatever I want.

"We had an early reservation, so we were seated promptly. Our waitress was attentive, and very willing to make modifications to our orders to accommodate our diet (South Beach) for us. I had the Black Grouper with mixed steamed veggies, and it was DELICIOUS. My husband had the steamed seafood platter. It was also quite tasty, but his portions were very small. His comment was that "you shouldn't be allowed to call something a platter for a serving that was SO small. By the time we left business had picked up, and all the tables were full. That could be the reason or the 25 minute wait for our check! Even after it was brought, and my husband slipped in our card, we still sat, until the manager took it for us."

"This was our first visit to AFM and we were very pleased with our overall experience. Not too happy with the service in the beginning as our assigned server was apparently on a break when we were seated. This is something the hostess should have known at the time we were seated. Another server eventually took her place running between his assigned locations and ours and did a fair job keeping up - not his fault - very knowledgeable about menu and the specials and made good recommendations. "me and my husband went for dinner and started out with the soup. clam chowder and gumbo had lots of flavor. it was great. then we ordered the fried seafood platter. it was enough food but it was tastless. it had no seasoning. the fries however where loaded with salt. and the crab fritters where ok. but the fish,shrimp and scallops where flesh but BLAH. we also got two drinks texas rita, and goose and pineapple. they were good. we then finished our meal with dessert. the brulee and cheesecake. very good! the service was good. we ended up spending $120. all in all i will go back,and try something different."

"My wife and I had dinner reservations for 2/12, the friday before Valentine's Day. Due to the snowfall, I changed our reservations to 2/19, to celebrate the Valentine's Day. The reservations was for 8:30pm. We arrived at 8:30pm and I told the host who we were and our reservation time. He comfirmed and told me that our table would be ready in 5 mins. After 15 mins went by and seeing other guests being seated, I went to the same host and told him that we had reservations for 8:30pm and that was 15 mins ago, he mumbled under his breath that he had a million reservations but out loud he said we had 1 more person ahead of us. At 9pm I called for the manager who apologized and sat us with no delay. The host ruined the romantic night for us."

"Our reservation was at 6:15 and we were taken to our table right at 6:15. Immediately someone came and took our order for drinks. The server then came to the table and asked if we had any questions and explained the menu. I asked about the crab cakes and he said that they were full of crab meat and not full of fillers and he did not exaggerate, they were delicious. My husband ordered the broiled seafood platter and everything on it was delicious as well! We had finished our dinner and were leaving the restaurant within an hour. "The place was very crowded and even though we had a reservation, it took 45 minutes to seat us. Then we were lead into a back room where very, very small tables were closely set together. I could have touched the person next to me with my elbow! The tables and chairs looked to be 50's dinette sets. The menu plainly stated that a salad could be substituted but the waiter said that they were too busy and no substitutions were allowed. The food was swimming in butter which made every thing taste nauseating. My husband had asked for no butter. The broiled seafood platter was $27 for 2 shrimp, 2 scallops and 2 small pieces of crab. It was the most HORRIBLE Valentine dinner of my life. I am never going to The Fish Market again."

"Greetings....our reservation was for 6:30pm ... we were seated at 7:15pm...very noisy but that is expected due to the crowd.....host/hostess very busy and not as friendly to us as we would have expected....long line to get to the host stand....they need someone managing the crowd in the line....several people in line asked what they should do to "check in"....."

"It was Valentine's Day, so they were running 45 minutes behind on reservations, but that is to be expected. The only thing I wasn't a fan of, was that they brought in extra small round tables and packed them into the main level where we sat. We were practically elbow to elbow with our neighbors. That didn't really add to the experience of making it a romantic night. Next time we'll request, and wait for a nicer more private table. Other than that, service was good and the food was wonderful, as always. The Chilean Sea Bass Hong Kong Style is heaven on a plate!! We also had the fried oyeters as an app, and they were delish! My husband's steak was cooked well and was a nice cut. Overall, VERY GOOD!"

"Knowing that restaurants are usually busy on Valentine's Day I made my restaurants three weeks in advance. Our reservations were at 6:30pm but we weren't seated until 7:30pm!! The restaurant overbooked in a way that can only be described as extremely poor management. To add insult to injury we were given no apology for the wait, no complimentary food while we waited, neither was anything comped off of our bill. I have been to several restaurants and I've never had a worse experience than here.

The food was passable but nothing special. The restaurant looks like it's falling apart with chairs that rock and marks all over the walls.

I'm definitely never going to the fish market again!"

"Where this is usually a good restaurant, they were way over booked for Valentine's Day. We had to endure a long line just to get to the hostess desk for our reservation. Then they were seating people out of order just because they were complaining.

They tried to seat us in a horrible location next to the hostess desk with people standing all around, but then seated us at a decent location when we rejected the first table.

Once seated, our waitress is good but it took forever for our food to arrive.

If I ever eat at this restaurant again...it certainly won't be on Valentine's Day or any other similar occasion."

"Our reservations were on Feb 14, which Atlanta Fish Market had over-booked. When we arrived, we could barely squeeze into the foyer as a mob of people was waiting to check in. All of these people had made reservations. The mob spilled out into the dining area, with people standing around others that were eating. It was chaos, with no clear direction or system. The only thing clear was that we would be sat late. So we decided to chance the bar instead, where we received outstanding service from the bartender. The food was fantastic and the bar tender was friendly, helpful and very efficient. The experience would have been much better had there been a clear check in and reservation system."

"This was my first visit back to the Atlanta Fish Market in a long while. And I'm certain it was my last. Made a reservation but was seated in a sectioned-off meeting room of the restaurant, where we shared that meeting room with a 40-person birthday party. The group noise echoed off the walls of this closed-door room and was deafening. The manager, however, did not see a problem with seating us in the midst of a closed-door group celebration. The manager's demeanor indicated that he was disinterested in my concerns and made me feel as if I was wrong for complaining. Overall, not a fine-dining experience. If you are looking for an attention-to-details seafood restaurant, like I was that night, Atlanta Fish Market probably isn't for you."

"My husband and I love the Atlanta Fish Market, but will not go back on another Valentines Day. It appeared to be overbooked (two double lines out the door) and the restaurant seemingly replaced their normal tables for a lot of little tables. Our table was wobbly. The waitress, who was very good, put a napkin under our table to keep it stable enough for our food and drinks. Tables were so small and so close that a neighboring table spilled their drink, which partly ended up on my coat! We moved to the next table, which was also wobbly. I just had to comment about this. However!!!, the food was on point and delicious as always."

"We specifically reserved a table at the Fish Market to take part in the Lobster Fest. After being seated, however, our waiter told us that there was no more lobster. He also named a couple of other seafood items that the restaurant was out of. My wife ordered the black grouper in lieu of the lobster. When it was delivered and she tasted it, she asked the waiter to confirm the order. My wife did not think it was what she ordered but rather Talapia. After that event, our waiter became scarce accept to bring the check and to inquire about desert. Additionally, the server for our table needs to learn to not reach from behind and across the face of a diner. We think the Fish Market has lost some of its ambience since our last time dining"

"The food was delicious as usual and, once we finally sat down, the server was friendly, helpful and personable. However, the 45 minute wait after our reservation time (9:30PM) was unacceptable, moreover the 20-25 minute wait simply to check in for our reservation was horrible- especially with little, to no, information being provided to the crowd milling around the entrance-way. We felt that some pushier guests were being allowed attention rather than being told to wait in line with the rest of us. Barely an apology was offered for the treatment, much less the delay. It is understandable for a popular restaurant to be busy on a Saturday night, but the hosts and hostesses must be able to ensure proper treatment of those put out guests."

I had the crab fritter appetizer which was wonderful albeit small. My date had the crab stuffed lobster which was amazing and I had the red snapper which was also wonderful. The only complaint I can think of is that they had run out of their lobster specials as well as crab legs, but I feel certain it was due to the fact that it was Valentine's day. Overall it's my favorite seafood restaurant in Atlanta and I will continue to come back."

"The Atlanta Fish Market was fabulous as ususal. It was Valentine's weekend and a bit crowed, but our server still provided us extra care and attention. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta. If you haven't had a fried lobster tail before, this is the place to try it! Keeps me coming back."

"My wife and I went to the Atlanta Fish Market the night before Valentines. We thought the food was excellent however there were far too many people. We made a reservation and we were sat in a booth by the bar, served by one of the bartenders. She personally provided great service but they were far too busy making the overall experience poor. If I could a night where they were not busy we'd come back."

"Though I enjoyed the food, the cattle-call like atmosphere was off-putting, with those waiting for a table standing in the dining room watching everyone eating. This along with seating arrangements also made for a noisy environment.
The service was good, if a bit overzealous. I felt at times as if I was being hurried out of the restaurant for that reason, with various staff stopping by the table to fill already filled wine glasses and entrees coming before appetizers were finished. If the restaurant's business is done in volume, they ought to reduce their prices to reflect the fact that this is not fine dining."

"Our experience overall was pretty good. The only thing I noticed was that our waiter left large amounts of time in between checking on us. The Steak I ordered was very good, and the fish that my wife ordered was very good. We wished there would've been more choices of sides for our meals. It seemed like you only had 3 choices: mashed potatoes, green beans or asparagus."

"My wife and felt that the overall experience was fair at best. We went on Valentine's Day night and they had obviously overbooked due to Valentine's. Our reservation was for 5:15 and it took 45 minutes just to get to the check in stand. There were people lined up everywhere with no one knowing what the process was. The food was very good once we finally got to our table."

"The reservation service was awesome. NOt sure how or why but once we made it up to the reservation checkin table, we were seated immediately while all the others that held reservatins weren't. "I had a reservation at 8:45 PM and did not get seated until 9:25 PM after going back to check on our table. If I did not inquire, I know it would have been an even longer wait. The restaurant was overbooked for Feb 13 and a reservation did not mean too much. Also, small tables were added to accomodate more people. The tables were not big enough to be comfortable and we were too close to the parties seated on each side of us.

Although, the food and service was very good the wait and the uncomfortable seating took too much away from the evening."

"My advice would be not to try this restaurant on a special occasion like Valentine's Day. I know that restaurants are especially crowded on special nights like Valentine's Day, but this place was a mess! The food was great, but I feel over priced. Our waitress was very nice and gave us our space (which I like). The menu is great, but for the price I would expect a better ambiance. It was so smokey that we left smelling like a fish fry. Over all the food was great but expensive, the check in was a total disaster, and the valet was fast and courteous. I'm sure this place is great on another night."

"My wife and I enjoy celabrating certain occcasions at The Atlanta Fish Market. The food is upscale (a bit pricey but very good). The noise is a part of the expirence. "Reservations at 9:15. Didn't sit until 10:15. Didn't eat until 11:15(no exaggeration). We went the saturday before valentines day and there was absolutely nothing romantic about the set up. I've never been, so I'm not sure how they normally have the tables set up but the way they were that night took me back to eating in my high school cafeteria. No privacy at all. I could literally reach over and have a piece of fish from the couple sitting at the table next to us. I'm sure it is not always like this but seems to me that they were trying to pull in as much money as they could. That completely took away from the ambiance. Nothing at all romantic about the atmosphere.I understand them being busy because of valentines.
Hint the reservations!"

"Granted, it was a busy night, but we waited to have our car parked for 20 minutes and then didn't get seated until a full hour after our reservation time, and then only when we made our way back to the host desk to ask; they didn't manage to find us although we were at the same area at the bar the entire time. "we were a party of 7. out those seven were 4 kids. two are not seafood fans and they only have one item on the menu that was not seafood. but you cant go wrong with chicken fingers. when you're in a big group it can be pricey, average is $25 per plate at lunchtime. i would definatly return to this restaurant w/o the kids so whatever i spent on them i would enjoy more of the menu options for myself. yum!"

"We've dined at the Atlanta Fish Market many times and I took my husband there for his birthday. We had a 7:00 p.m. reservation and were seated in five minutes. The fried calamari as an appetizer is the best I've ever tasted at any restaurant and the broiled seafood platter is outstanding! My husband had the surf and turf with fried shrimp which he was very pleased with as his steak was cooked perfectly. Our server was a little slow in getting things we requested, but was attentive and very professional. Request to be seated on the upper level near the window, much more quiet and intimate. The AFM is always a winner, we will return soon!"

"I am a bit of a seafood fanatic. One of my all time favorites is flounder stuffed with a good crab cake style stuffing. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and it was a good 9 out of 10. I hoped the stuffed flounder would be on par. Unfortunately it was not. The fish and the stuffing were basically floating in a thin watery "sauce". I had about three bites and decided the kitchen should get it back. The sauce might be a good idea on the side but the flounder had spent enough time swimming before it was caught.

Luckily, my wife had gotten the swordfish encrusted with peppercorn/cashews. It was outstanding and our pleasant waitress was happy to get an order for me as well.

Misstep corrected, wonderful quality of fish. Out of characters"

"Overall was very good. Excellent service by the wait staff. Not real happy with the seating protocol. We made res a week prior and when we arrived we were given a beeper, noticed that not many beepers were handed out and that parties (all sizes) were seated immediately upon checking in. We have noticed at a few other Buckhead Group resturants that there is a pecking order when it come to treatment you receive and it seemed that way at Fish Market."

"This Atlanta landmark still has good food, but the art of service is lost. Red wine ($15 a glass) served in a small white wine glass (we were told only those who buy a bottle get the Bordeaux glasses). Blue Cheese wedge salad was served on my scalding hot entree plate (dressing all over the seafood, let alone a cold salad wilting on a hot plate). Server seemed unconcerned, as was the manager who stopped by to see how we were doing.

Portions were smaller for the price, so not a value pick (and yes, there can be values in high end dining).

It is a shame, for the food (what there was of it) is tasty and fresh."

"The seafood platter was great, but we came for the lobster feast. The lobster feast was just a hoax to get you in the door. The $29.99 lobster price did not include sides. You had to buy that for 3-4 dollars more for each side. Reg price lobster meal is $35.95 and it includes 2 sides. So how is this any kind of deal? I was not happy. I also feel the salads are way overpriced. They brought a "side" salad which cost $8. I don't mind spending money on a good meal, but price things accordingly."
