This Baldwin Street institution established in 1979, in a rustic old home with charm and grace, is celebrating its 10 Anniversary under owner & Chef Paul Biggs. "Went there for our Valentines meal the weekend after Valentines. For starter I had the Foie Gras which was delicious, my partner had a salad. For main I had the beef short ribs, which were too dry, my partner had the steak which was also just a bit blah. Not saying the food was terrible, but these things bring it down from 4 stars. Service was fine."

"Bodega is my "go to" restaurant in the University-Dundas area. Consistently execellent food, attentive service. Moderately priced. Whether I'm having a business lunch with a colleague, a quiet lunch with a friend, or an anniversary dinner with my wife, we have all routinely and universally been pleased with the overall experience. And I don't mean "routine" in any negative way: the food is tasty and elegantly presented; the wine choices are good; and they have a year-round prix fixe menu for every palate!"

"I enjoyed a nice lunch at Bodega with my family. The food was great, the wine selection was very good my only complaint was that we all found it difficult to hear one another. For some reason everyone's conversations (the place was packed), seemed to bounce off the walls making it difficult to hear one another. Aside from that, each of us enjoyed our meals very much and would go back again."

(Only issue: the entrance door needs to be moved or allow for an alcove; when there is a line, the entire resto gets a really cold blast and that is a health concern!!)"

"I was so excited for this meal, this was to be my first Winterlicious experience. I already new exactly what I was going to order and I had made sure that I was plenty hungry. My guests and I arrive for our 2:00pm reservation to be greeted by a long line at the door. I figured these were people who didn't think to make a reservation, but upon checking with the 6 or 7 groups ahead of us I realized that everyone had a reservation and that everyone's reservations was for 2:00pm. We started to wait, the line being so long that only one of us could wait inside, the rest had to stand out in the cold. After about 20min or so we wedge our way to the front of the line to ask how much longer and were told another 20-30min, we left."

"Good food quality. But the menu is not as refined as to give surprise. Nice manner and responsive service. Dining area is a bit narrow, especially after setting up a big long table for group. It's great that the waiters can still squeeze through. It's unfortunate that the big group of Chinese diners did not keep their voice low. Otherwise it should be a nice quiet place to enjoy good food."

"Based on my Winterlicious experience at Bodega I would NOT recommend this restaurant to friends or eat there on a normal (or even special) occasion.
If you are going to participate in Winterlicious you should be putting forward an example of your best work so that I would be encourage to dine in your establishment on a normal evening. Based on your Winterlicious menu I would not. It was lack luster and the cod lacked any real taste.
The large reservation that the restaurant obviously cannot accommodate simply added to our ruined evening. They were loud, took the attention of the servers away from everyone else and it was clear we were not the only ones who felt this way.

"A date and I went to Bodega for dinner during Winterlicious, the first time for both of us. The place is warm and inviting. I had the sweetbread ravioli with foie gras and morel sauce to begin: delicate, very subtle, almost too much so, but nicely earthy. Then I had the braised lamb shank (a favourite dish) which was tender and flavourful. Its rosemary, prune & cranberry sauce made me consider it as an appropriate substitute for turkey at Thanksgiving dinner. Dessert was a Pudding Chomeur, an unusual choice for me considering there was a crème brulée on the menu as well. I didn't regret my choice. My date had the same main, but had an interesting lobster shrimp bisque to start, and cherry cobbler for dessert, all of which she enjoyed."

"Located in a lovely hidden Baldwin Village, Bodega always seemed mighty attractive and promising for me and we finally got a chance to sample their chef's creations. Although it states that cuisine is French, I'd have to say that by the level of "delishesness" - it's not...It's not even Quebecois... Winterlicious menu was a disappointment, my fish was fine but it was not phenomenal and my partner's roast was so overcooked and chewy, it lowered the overall impression of the restaurant to an unrecoverable minimum. It's a very very nice place in terms of ambiance though - really lovely, cozy and fuzzy warm...I just wish the food was better. Probably not going to be back."

"Because it was the first day of Winterlicious, the place was quite full. Thank God I had a reservation, but even with that, we had to wait 6 to 8 minutes for a table. The food was, as per usual, excellent. In spite of the reduced prices for the Winterlicious Promotion, the portions were most generous. This is my favourite Restaurant in the entire area! Congratulations to the Owner/Chef and his fine staff."

"I went here with my friends for a Winterlicious lunch. It was a little crowded but I really liked the freshly baked bread, soup, and desert (sherbet). I tried my friend's green salad and creme brulee and they were pretty good too. I found my main dish (duck) to be too dry and a little hard to cut. But overall, I liked it."

"Me and my other four friends went to Bodega for a winterlicious luncheon, we had great satisfaction from food and ambiance. The restaurant was fully booked for lunch that our waitress tend to get a little busy with different tables. Since the restaurant is initially structured from an independent house, the heavy snow throughout the window just made us feel warmer indoor. However, the limited space made us harder to walk out the restaurant. I would definitely visit again!"
