Basilico Restaurant, located in Millburn, New Jersey was established by co-owners Mario DeMarco and Angelo Delbecchi, formerly of Sergio's, also in Millburn. Both are graduates of the Hotel Management School in Alassio, Italy. Both from Italy, they have brought their original and authentic Italian cuisine to Millburn.
Basilico has a definite New York look and feel, which reflects in our food items. We use the best of ingredients. "Casual and chic" is how we have been described by reviewers. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable and energetic. Our goal is to maintain the highest level of hospitality, remembering that you are the guest, and it is our ultimate goal for you to leave thoroughly satisfied. Special requests can be accommodated.
"Basilico has been in Millburn for years. We stopped going, but went back this year and it was better than I remembered. The food was delicious w great specials. Their Osso bucco is still amazingly good. My only complaint is that the specials should be written down. There are so many it's hard to remember them all after the server goes they a list of 7-8 diff items!! Loved the desserts, especially the Italian cheesecake."

"What a delicious lunch. The waiter was friendly and very accommodating to our requests. Our food was prepared very nicely: pasta was al dente with much flavor. Of course, we love that it is a BYOW restaurant."

"This was the second time we have been to Basilico. The last time was several months ago before attending a show at the Papermill Playhouse. The food the first time was excellent so this time we came with friends hoping it would be as good as the first time. It was better! Our guests raved about it. The food was oustanding and so was the service. They knew we were going to the Playhouse for a show and made sure we were able to get all our courses on time but without feeling rushed. This is the perfect place to eat before going to a show at the Papermill Playhouse!"

"Service was a bit spotty. My veal was overcooked. My dining partner ordered a shrimp dish and was very suprised to find that they were served in the shells. This should be pointed out either on the menu or by the server. It was unexpected and very messy. Took away from the enjoyment of the meal. Dessert on the other hand was amazing. The napoleon with strawberries and the caramel chocolate tart were delicious. Was disappointed that tip was included in our bill - we were only a party of two! I found it a bit arrogant and it was a turn off for us."

"We went for dinner with our 18 month old grandson. The wait staff could not have been more attentive and helpful to us. We had a wonderful time, I don't think we disturbed anyone else and the food was excellent as usual. Thanks!"

"We had an early Sunday dinner. Seated promptly and read the specials. As always the food and service were terrific. There is now a wine list as well! one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants."

"It has been a while that I have been here, I found it to be like I was in the city without all the fluff. The food was awesome and the service I liked b/c it was chill, knowledgable, and not overbearing. I am looking forward for the weather to break so I can come back and have dinner or lunch outside- great people watching and a throw back to Europe."

"Basilico is not what it used to be- menu needs to be updated and the service improved- our waiter mispronounced half of the specials! Not his fault, the manager needs to make sure everyone is clear and correct before they leave the kitchen! The had NO veal chops at 7 pm, really? A standard on your menu and gone at 7? The skirt was tough and arrived UN-SLICED. We won't be going back. Basilico is past it's prime."

"We enjoyed our selections - wild boar special and the shrimp and scallops in white truffle. Entrees were not the sam3 old thing, showing some creativity, and were nicely prepared. This was our first visit, and we stopped before going to the Papermill. We'd come again."

"It took a while to figure out what I was going to eat because so many things looked so great. I'll have to go back and try another starter and entree. Baked Alaska was a nice dessert, and a crowd pleaser"
