We are a downtown gathering place, where soul-satisfying foods radiate with the intense flavors of seasonal ingredients from our favorite local farmers and producers.
Executive chef, Craig Hetherington, can make tomato soup with griddled cheese sandwich seem just as refined as his Dungeness crab tagliatelle.
Pastry chef Will Fausser explores variations on classic desserts such as Theo chocolate cake with marshmallow topping and graham cracker ice cream and milk and cookies.
A choice of large or small plates makes exploring and sharing the menu a breeze.
Our wines come exclusively from the Northwest and are priced to purchase by the glass or bottle. Our beers are also brewed here in the Northwest.
We are located at the Seattle Art Museum, which is a block away from the main entrance of Pike Place Market and a short walk from the downtown shopping district.

"We visited Taste as part of our Mother's Day afternoon trip to SAM. What a great surprise. The food and the service were excellent. They had a wondeful pre-fix lunch special which only my husband ordered and the rest of us were envious. My daughter had the eggs Benny and loved it. I had the pancakes and must say they were wonderful and very different from any traditional pancake.
All in all, a great way to spend an afternoon. Lunch at Taste and a day at loking at art at SAM."

"We had a great time seeing the art exhibits and then eating in the restaurant. There was an optional special menu in honor of Mother's Day, as well as the usual Sunday brunch menu. The restaurant was crowded, but not overly noisy. I'm glad we had made reservations because we were seated immediately. The service was very good, with an attentive staff. My lunch was wonderful (quiche and salad). My husband enjoyed his (chicken and bisquits), but it would have been very dry if he hadn't asked for extra gravy. The prices were quite reasonable. I will definitely go again."

"I'll start with the praise--excellent pork belly with vegetable hash. My husband has gone gluten-free, however, and the faro was not listed in the menu. I got to slurp up all the faro, and thank goodness because my gnocchi with prosciutto was extremely salty. My daughter's mac-n-cheese was luke-warm. When I asked for half a glass of wine, the wait-person immediately claimed that they don't sell half glasses. I asked her to maybe cajole the bartender and she grimaced before leaving the table. When she returned, she said they could pour an half glass for me, but would need to charge me full price! How utterly ridiculous. How difficult is it to pour half of a glass and charge $5 instead of $10? Not interested in going back."

"I was very pleasantly surprised how good the food was! I had the Treasures of Kenwood inspired dish - Bangers and Mash - an old British standard, but prepared with a contemporary twist that was executed very well.

"Close to Benaroya Hall, and next to the SAM, this seemed like a good place to try. The food looked good and was very tasty, but there were two things that stood out. First, the tables for two were set too close together. I was sitting closer to the people on either side of me than I was to my dining partner. We also had to choose who sat on the bench and who sat in the chair. Second, when I ordered my meal, it arrived without one of the two main ingredients listed in the title. They corrected the issue, but when my plate arrived the second time, the added item was only lukewarm while the rest of my dish was still hot. They offered free dessert which was nice. Maybe it was an off night. I think next time I would try it for lunch."

"I had a bad feeling when I walked in, picked up the business card and saw that TASTE was run by bon apetite - the same food service company that ran the horrible cafeteria at the graduate school I attended.
Gave it a chance anyway since we were in a rush to catch a show nearby. I will never go back again. Between the three of us, we ordered a seared ling cod entree, pork cheeks, turnip soup, oysters, and drinks. The only thing I would consider good was the turnip soup and the oysters. The ling cod was an amalgam of things that didn't go together and the fish was poorly cooked (seriously, how do you mess up ling cod?). The pork cheek was bland. Worst of all were the drinks - one (seer and seen) was not even edible."

"If you're at SAM and you feel hungry in the middle of viewing an exhibit TASTE is a good choice. However, if you are looking for a substantial luncheon portion of foods large enough to know you're actually swallowing something, it fails the test. My albacore was served on a large bed of red quinoa (an acquired taste at best) with diced beets and onion pieces. At least my companion had Louie Louie salad, and all of the ingredients were a decent size. Maybe I'll give it another try but with so many options within walking distance I wouldn't go to SAM because of TASTE."

"We went for a light snack and were disappointed. Maybe a foodie would have liked it, but with with two teens that were looking for something less elegant than duck eggs and parsnip soup we went simple. But it was very overpriced. The menu said two deviled eggs for $4 and we literally got two (half) eggs. For $50 we left disappointed in everything but the ambiance and the art on the walls."

"Overall, I was disappointed with the dinner experience. Reservations were made but when arrived was seated in a row of tables with no privacy; could hear conversations of the couple next to us. Requested booth that was open when arrived but that was for "someone else". Got to the restaurant via "AroundMe" app on iphone and the menu on this site was totally wrong. None of the features that peaked interest in dining there were correct. Menu was limited and although waitress service was good, the food was a big disappointment."

"Taste is located in the Seattle Art Museum, and is a quiet treasure. We dined there at lunch. The atmosphere is modern and active, energetic without being noisy or crowded. The menu boasts locally sourced foods creatively and tastily prepared, at very reasonable prices. Try the Croque Madame or the Wild Mushroom Stroganoff, or be more traditional with a Skagit River Ranch burger and frites, with tasty side sauces. The staff were attentive and cheerful. The cocktails are artworks of their own, with their takes on traditional whiskey drinks particularly good. Try the rye manhattan! We will definitely be back. Reservations recommended if you do not want to wait."

"We learned that the restaurant has longer hours than the art museum, so you can finish your museum visit and enjoy the restaurant afterwards. We appreciated the special happy hour offers and stayed to order off the dinner menu. The menu is tied into what the current exhibits are at the museum, which provides an incentive to return as the exhibits change to see what the new items are."

"We had a 5:30 reservation for four people. After cocktails and starters (deviled eggss0 were bland)we ordered entrees. This was approximately 6:15. Waiter returns to tell two of our party that they they were out of what they ordered. They reorder just to be told minutes later that there was none left of their second order. Other than apologies there was no attempt to .mediate the situation with a free glass of wine a dessert, etc. The menu is limited to start with so we see no reason why items were not available so early in the eveningwe keep trying this place because it is attractive and close to Benaroya Hall. The food was mediocre at best. Last time"

"flavor profiles were a tad cautious, which drops in into the ' i could do this catagory'. Beets were well done but could have been better
if not served cold... warm with touch of olive oil and sea salt? fresh grated horseradish? Stroganoff was too vinagary for me but others
liked it, maybe a dollop of sour cream and flat leaf parsley on top, cracked pepper? Bangers were good but 'mash' were whimpy and
more veggies? Have had pizza and sliders in the past and both were great, lots of flavor, didn't bog you down. Also trout was nicely done next time I'll go for that..."

"After attending the new SAM exhibit, I surprised my husband with brunch at TASTE.
Brunch was amazing! The menu is inventive. It's difficult to decide what to order.
My husband had the mushroom strognoff and I had the Coque de Madame.
We both agreed it was one of the best meals we have had years. We need to go back! Soon!
Life is short and we haven't tried their wonderful dessert menu.
Also I just want to say, the manager and all the wait staff is amazing. Very
knowledgable, attentive, and helpful."

"As a stop before or after going to the museum, this is a great choice. Atmosphere is comfortable and modern, the menu has a short but diverse selection and the cocktail and wine list are interesting. Service is prompt and friendly. Ordered the Bangers and Mash, in keeping with the British exhibit theme - very tasty. The beet and date salad was delicious. Friend ordered mushroom pasta and it was wonderful - nice they have good vegetarian options. Have also been to happy hour, which is great - busier/louder than dinner but fun and they have good specials."

"We had a great experience at TASTE! Everyone was super friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. It was Valentine's Day too, so I know everyone was very busy, but it was a wonderful meal all around. Even reserving our table was easy! Our waiter was excellent; knowledgeable and professional, he made great suggestions and was all around great at his job. Thanks for such a great night, everyone!"

"We have always found the food at Taste to be delicious. We were disappointed when we had lunch there recently. We had the organic hamburgers (not as good as previously) and the French fries (cold and limp). Our very good waiter brought us some fresh ones."
