"I love the wine market and often go there for dinner. This was my first time going for brunch and I have to say, I don't know whether I'll be returning. Certain things about the meal were great, the cocktail was delicious (and inexpensive) and the poppy seed bread and orange butter were amazing. The actual food however left a bit to be desired. I had the eggs benedict. The eggs were overcooked(!!!!), the bacon (pancetta?) chewy, and the hollandaise rather tasteless. My partner had a very tasty looking sandwich which she enjoyed, but it was enormous. The surroundings of the restaurant are always fantastic and the waitstaff very friendly, but I was too disappointed by the food to want to come back or recommend it to others."

"We hadn't been in a couple of years and we were not disappointed. On a warm evening their courtyard was a relaxing end to the day with very good food and wine - especially the monkfish with a local farm fresh salad and the warm bread pudding was the best. Loved the special 3 course menu with discounted wine pairings - a great value."

"My 3 guests, all of a certain age, all world travelers, were absolutely delighted with the menu, the food, and the helpful and up-beat wait-staff. We asked for a quieter table than the original one inside and were happily seated outside, with apologies, on a perfect evening. Staff also turned the music volume down immediately at our request. and checked to see if we were pleased with its volume. We exclaimed over our food and shared tastes all around. They admired the re-use of the foundry building and were bemused by the joggers passing through the courtyard unobtrusively."

"My family dined at the Wine Market for my daughters birthday. The service was attentive. The atmosphere was fun, although this could also be perfert for a romantic evening. We ordered several appetisers which were generous and delicous. Everyone was very happy with their entrees. We all shared a bite of each other's food and agreed. The mix of herbs and sauces made each entree unique."

"We had a wonderful night sitting out with old friends Saturday night. The air was perfect and the service attentive without being intrusive. They were not in a rush to turn our table and that was appreciative. We all found the menu a bit weird, but found things to try and everything was delicious! Sitting out made the evening, as the courtyard terrace is quiet and you can really enjoy the conversation of your table mates. Keep up the good work but maybe have more mainstream items on the menu."

"This visit wasn't as good as our many previous ones (change in the kitchen?). The manager discounted our check by 10% but that doesn't make up for one wrong order delivered to our table, vastly overcooked (like hard and crunchy) fries and missing accompaniments that were stated on the menu but missing on the plate. Our server graciously remedied the errors, but someone should be checking plates b/f they leave the kitchen."

"This was our first visit to the Wine Market Bistro. It's a combination restaurant, wine bar and wine store. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. We enjoyed the fried oysters as a shared appetizer for the table and 3 of us had the soft-shell crab entree (as a special) and 1 had the scallops that was on the main menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We shared two bottles of white wine, a Sauvignon Blanc and a Sancerre. Both were very good and medium priced. The Sancerre came from the wine store so add a $9 corkage fee and it was in the mid $30 range. Kathleen took very good care of us and we all came away feeling we would like to come back again. Soon!"

"I was not wowed by the menu (I was wrong) but the food was amazing. Everything was perfectly seasoned, great flavors and I actually really really loved it. I have not been to a restaurant where I loved every course. This is a must visit. Try the shrimp and pork dumplings with sweet jalepenio glaze. Amazing."

"The name of the restaurant is accurate. It is a wine market, with a bistro attached. The market itself has an excellent selection of wine and the staff is available to help you make a selection. There is a 15% corkage fee on each bottle of wine that you drink during your meal, but that is more than offset by the discount you receive on any wine you purchase to take with you.
The wait staff is friendly and helpful. They attend to your needs without being overbearing. The understand good service and deliver it consistently.
The food is varied, well prepared, and delicious. I had the cheese plate, the house aged ribeye with the asparagus salad, and the carrot cake. All were among the best food I have eaten."

"We were seated promptly, the server greeted us professionally and with a warm and welcoming smile. She told us what specials were being offered and confidently recommended a wine pairing with our meal. Overall, this was by far, one of the best places I have been for lunch in a very long time. "My husband took me to the Wine Market for my birthday dinner and everything was spectacular! As we were picking out our first bottle of wine from the shop, our waitress brought over two complementary glasses of sparkling wine to kick off the celebration. The food was fantastic, as always; the waitress was attentive and very knowledgable about the food; and my husband and I enjoyed a long, romantic evening sipping on wine together. This is by far our top spot in Baltimore for a special night out!"

"While I've been to Wine Market a number of times, I didn't feel that this time lived up to my expectations. Saturday nights are always a busy night, but this time, it was incredibly loud, where I had to be loud as well so the people at my table could hear me. When our waiter was trying to tell us the specials, he had to get very close so that we could hear him. I do think that also had to do with the fact that there were a couple of large parties there, and we were sat in the middle of them. Service was slow due to the large parties which typically isn't the case. The food was good, but not great. I'm going to chalk this dinner up to it being a very busy night and hope the next time that I go, it will be much better."

"We wanted a leisurely but early dinner so we could go to the BSO concert and the Wine Market was a perfect choice. We were the first to be seated, good service, great selection of wine by the glass, creative and eclectice menu and no rush.
Our only suggestion -- be more creative with the naming of the dishes. For example, "suckling pig" really under sold the dish and wasn't the most inspiring name. We jokingly told the waitress that we were renaming it "pig on a pillow."
Because we were there so early it was very quiet, but I have been there when it is full and fairly lively.
It is one of my "go to" restaurants for hosting out of town guests."

"The Wine Market is a great place for amazing food, expertly prepared, and served in a beautiful (but casual) atmosphere. The service is very friendly and attentive, and usually knowledgable. There are hundreds of wines to choose from, as you might expect from a place called Then Wine Market, and the staff will gladly offer a recommendation for a wine to go with your food. The plates are beautifully presented and look as good as they taste. You might also see some notable people dining there; in the past, we've spotted Baltimore's Mayor, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, and actor Josh Charles (Dead Poets Society, The Good Wife). And the patio is very pleasant for outside dining."

"We went to Wine Market Bistro not knowing about the special benefit menu they had... A prix fix of three courses for $39. Every course was excellent and interesting! The smoked trout dip with potato chips was delicious. The short ribs and salmon were wonderful. For dessert we especially enjoyed the bread pudding. The carrot cake was divine. We weren't too sure how we felt about the carrot ice cream with it, but it made for interesting discussion! We sat in the private dining room in the back and the noise level was a lot lower that the main space. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. We will absolutely be back!"

"We went for Easter brunch and had a choice of dining from the special prix-fixe or the regular brunch menu. The special menu was an excellent value for the choice of dishes. The server was very knowledgeable of the wines and made good recommendations on pairings. When she noticed I didn't care for a particular wine, she brought a taste of another. After the dessert I had ordered from the special menu was out (and she noted my disappointment as I'd ordered it earlier with the rest of the meal and didn't really care for the other prix-fixe desserts), she brought over the regular dessert menu for me to make another choice. All in all, an excellent dining experience."

"We go to the Wine Market fairly regularly, but our last two visits have left us wondering. I've always appreciated the creative menu, but not lately. We went for a fairly good brunch a few weeks ago and this trip was for dinner.
This last visit, we were both served very mediocre meals. Everything was sort of slushy, lukewarm and just flat. But we were hungry, so we just ate what we could. Service was also a bit off, so I'm wondering if it was just an off night for the bistro. Hope so, but I don't want to pay good money for more off nights!"

"The Wine Market used to be our neighborhood go to restaurant. No longer our choice. On site management has changed and is very disappointing. They extend the feeling of unwelcomeness and essential communication is lacking. Service remains good however the food preparation is slipping. Prices are high for what they are delivering."

"There is a reason we keep coming back: wonderful recipes. Take your basic califlower. The sauce was simply wonderful--smoked raisin vinaigrette. Along with the duck breast it made for an awesome meal. Add in the field green salad with the pear vanilla vinaigrette and finish with homemade chocolate ice cream...how good is that? Everyone at our table enjoyed their main dishes: lamburger,the rock fish--all good. Service was excellent (Emily?). We did a flight of reds and came away loving the South Afican Shiraz. We are having our son's rehearsal dinner in the back room in about a month and are confident that the Wine Market will be a hit."

"The food and service were excellent. The flavors were complex and the pairings of ingredients unexpected and very well done. The dishes (sweet potato agnolotti, flatbread pizza, grilled piedmont culotte steak) were sophisticated but not overdone. The casual, but polished, ambiance enhanced the experience."

"Saturday was a very busy evening at the Wine Market. We arrived early (about 30 minutes) for our 8:30pm reservation. After waiting till around 9 pm, we were finally accommodated.
The staff more than made up for the long wait - this was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised with the innovative offerings and fresh choices on the menu. We will definitely be back !"
