"Last meal in Charleston ended on a high note. Had lunch reservations and ordered too much food but it was worth it. Best fried green tomatoes bar none. Loved the chicken liver appetizers. Ordered the flounder and it was amazing, perfectly cooked. Wife ordered the shrimp and grits which were perfectly cooked though a little more spice would taken it over the top. A Charleston treasure."

"We had a great waiter who answered any of our questions and made recommendations. The appetizer of fried green tomatoes was delicious. Our shrimp and grits were very good also. Only complaint would be the dessert, pecan pie, was a bit over done and dry. Everything else was outstanding! Highly Recommend!"

"One of the nicest seafood meals I ever had. The Parmesan crusted flounder was delicious, a tad better than my wife's snapper (skin on) special. We each had a salad before our entrees that were fine, but paled in comparison to my flounder. Finished off our meal by sharing a wonderful pecan pie. A great night has by all. Our service was top notch."

"The service staff was stretched; the Father's Day brunch we attended was quite busy. So appetizer soups were forgotten until asked for (after a long wait) and then the wrong soups were brought. The main courses were served just after the correct soups were begun. Requests for drinks were also forgotten. On arrival, I put my (cloth) purse on the floor next to my chair, only to discover I was sitting in a big puddle, no doubt spilled from the bar counter directly adjacent and above; a puddle that someone had in adequately covered with a dinner napkin. The entrées were generally very good, but very rich. Only the "ham steak with eggs over easy" was tough and overcooked."

"They were out of the champage we wanted but got a great upgrade at no extra charge. Great waiter!!!!! Very busy that day and i think the food could have been hotter, but no complaints on the flavor.

"Went there for a romantic night with my husband and the food was out of this world. Fried green tomatoes and pecan pie were to die for. The grits were decadent. Our server was great as well.
Our only complaint would be that our table was right beside a large party with very loud children. My husband and I could not hear each other until they left. I would NOT recommend taking groups of children to an upscale restaurant like this. It is very inconsiderate."

"A cozy dinner for my wife and I while visiting Charleston. Here you feel comfortable and relaxed. Never rushed, you can dine at a leisurely pace. The PEI mussel appetizer was fabulous and more than enough for sharing. Be careful not to fill up on the wonderful bread, it is so easy to dip in the mussel sauce! The Lowcountry Bouillabaisse was just right in both taste and size, leaving room for the best Peach Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream I've had in a long time. We will certainly visit Magnolias again, hopefully in the not too distant future."

"We are from Virginia, and this is our second visit to your lovely facility! My entree was superb! I ordered the shellfish with grits and sauce. "We are regulars at Magnolia's when in Charleston but this time we were not as happy about out experience. To be fair, it was a busy night with many huge groups, but to take 2 hours to eat dinner was crazy. 30 minutes to get peanut hummus! and another 45 to get our meals. Trout was mushy and not good. Salmon special and tuna were delicious."

"The gluten free menu was outstanding! I have been gf for 9 months and find it difficult at times to find delicious, gf dining experiences that live up to my high standards for dining out. Magnolia's did it all well. Firstly, the gf menu is as large as the regular menu. Sadly, they were out of gf bread, a rarety when dining out, but the parmesan crusted flounder took my mind right off of that! Everything was prepared with the freshest ingredients and was packed with flavor. I have eaten here on previous visits to Charleston before going gf, and enjoyed it thoroughly and was just as impressed this time. Thank you for taking such care of those of us that can't partake of gluten!"

"The title says it all! The Parmesan-encrusted Flounder was amazing!! The flounder had a perfect crust and the vegetable salad that it comes with was delicious! What pulled it all together was the sauce that was in the bottom of the dish! That stuff was the nector of the gods! (sorry for all the exclamation points but it was really good) My wife had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken which was very well done. The skin was not overly crispy and the side dishes that comes with it were so good. I'm very picky about mac and cheeses at restaurants but this was in my top three. It was so rich and cheesy though you have to eat it in small bites or risk eating the hand that is feeding you. :-)"

"I recently moved here, and my fiancé and I chose Magnolias to celebrate my first full day in Charleston. We could not have asked for a better experience! Even though we were placed in a less than ideal location (next to the hallway leading to the kitchen) it never felt awkward or that we were in the way. We had the housemade chips for the appetizer- SO good! Both of our entrees (tuna and flounder) were delicious. We had pecan pie to top it off... It is the best pie I think I've ever had. The service was friendly and accommodating. Overall an amazing night!"

"We had a wonderful dinner at a very reasonable price. Many wines and drinks to choose from and you could eat at the bar if you liked. Our server was so nice and explained the many choices on the menu. I started with the Creamy Tomato Bisque chiffonade with fresh basil and then ordered their Shellfish over Grits consisting of sautéed shrimp, sea scallops, & lobster, creamy white grits, lobster butter sauce, and fried spinach. Their bread was hot and delicious. Too full for dessert but loved every bite of my meal. I would highly recommend Magnolia's for an upscale dining experience."

"Magnolia's is our "must visit" restaurant every time we visit Charleston. This visit will keep us coming back.
Every dish was excellent. LOVED the soft shelled crab on pimento cheese grits! The appetizers are generous servings..which is OK because they are so good..you want more than a taste. Service was very good..but the server was definitely overworked taking care of too many guests at once."

"You know it is a "step-up" the minute you walk in the door and are pleasantly greeted and graciously seated. The dining rooms are large and easily maneuvered by staff and diners. It was easy to select the FGT and she-crab soup from the variety of appetizers that compel you to dream of a banquet ahead. The shellfish and grits were beyond expectations for freshness and savory flavors. My wife had the flounder on local gold rice and asparagus. Nothing is overdone or leaves you wanting. The wines are quality in a humble sized selection, but appropriate for the cuisine. The service is relaxed, attentive, and friendly. It will be difficult to return to Charleston and NOT make a reservation at Magnolia's."

"This restaurant is consistently good. We especially like going for lunch. The frogmore stew was excellent as was the spicy shrimp and sausage. But we've never had anything we didn't like here. Service was impeccable. LOVE places that notice when you're wearing dark-colored clothes and bring you a black napkin so you don't get lint all over your clothes from the white napkins. It's paying attention to little details like that that sets Magnolias apart."

"That's the word I keep using to describe it. Drinks, appetizers, entree and dessert - all perfection. Our server was helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and oh-so-perfectly southern. My husband went with the much raved about fried chicken platter and declared it the best meal he's ever had. We had some great meals in Charleston, but this was our favorite."

"We had a terrific meal at Magnolias on Friday evening June 6.. I can honestly say my meal of shellfish over grits was one the best meals I have ever experienced.. Everyone at table said the same thing about their meal.. Our waiter Willy was exceptional .. Would highly recommend this restaraunt to anyone visiting Charleston.."

"Magnolias is a very high volume high end dining establishment. Among venues striving for maximum plates served per night, it's about as good as it gets. There are better restaurants in Charleston, but they're much, much more expensive."

"Magnolia's continues to be one of the finest restaurants in Charleston. Refined lowcountry, with fresh, quality ingredients. Crabcakes are all crab, no filler, Seafood & grits includes scallops, lobster and shrimp, no "mystery fish". Service is friendly and attentive without hovering or being intrusive."

"I was a little disappointed in this visit as I got the feeling that Magnolias was getting a little tired and needed a fresh infusion of vigor with both the menu and the whole experience. Still a good "go to" place but because I have liked it so long I would like to see it bloom a little brighter for the future."

"We had a fabulous evening dining at Magnolias. From the moment we entered this elegant Old Charleston restaurant we knew we were in for a special dining experience. Our server Genevieve was marvelous. Knowledgable, funny and expert in her suggestions, she helped us choose the perfect meal from Magnolias' menu. We couldn't have asked for a better representation of Charleston's cuisine. We will be going back for sure."

"My wife and I recently had dinner at Magnolias -- it was one of the more highly recommended restaurants by friends who had been to Charleston. The fried green tomatoes are an absolute must order. Simply put, this was one the best dishes of any variety that I have ever had -- period. As for entrees, my wife got the flounder, which is one of their signature dishes; it was outstanding. I got the porterhouse pork chop -- it was very well prepared, huge, and delicious. Everything on the table really complemented each other. It was an exceptional, memorable experience. Will be at the top of our list when we return to town."
