"We got a LivingSocial deal to Gente and were thoroughly pleased with the experience! Although I've found that many places don't treat you well when you use a cheap deal, the folks at Gente made us feel very welcome. They actually had a nice menu printed out for the prix fixe deal. I had the caprese salad and the penne vodka, both of which were delicious. The caprese salad in particular was incredibly fresh and lovely. My partner had the salumi plate and the chicken piccata, and both of those were delicious too! The portions were generous, as were the glasses of wine included with our meal. It was a lovely atmosphere, not too crowded, wonderfully attentive service - we'll definitely be back!"

"Good value, good (not great) food, very generic type setting. The one mistake they make is that the male manager/owner? had no real charm. This is the type of place where the charm of the host, could make all of the difference. He did not and thus this is just a very average place. They need to try harder and bring warmth to their customers."

"This is my third time at the restaurant and my friend/colleague's first. I have only good things to say. The restaurant has been consistent and the staff is alway friendly and accommodating. The dishes that I have tried (lobster risotto and shrimp risotto) are very good, tasty and fresh. The atmosphere is calm compared to the outside hustle and bustle. it's my secret neighborhood gem."

"A friend was in town, we had tickets to see Kinky Boots. Once again Gente is one of my favorite places to take firends when they visit. It was a perfect place to meet and have dinner before the show. The price fixe menu is great. My friend who is from Europe says the tiramisu is the best."

"I liked the experience, although the food had sauces which were a little creamy for my taste. I would have liked the simpler Italian cuisine better, but that is a matter of taste. Everything was lovely if a bit rich (think more French kitchen)."

"I went here with a Groupon so got a good deal. Food was very bland; I definitely wouldn't pay full price. Ambiance and waiter were nice though, although they forgot to bring out the appetizers and skipped to the main meal after a long wait (but were apologetic when notified and brought the appetizers right out). Would no return again, there are simply better Groupon deals out there."

"I may be a bit of a letter snob but this restaurant is a 'B' which always turns me off. I didn't know this prior to making the reservation on Open Table. There seemed to be only two waiters and a bus boy. I couldn't tell if the waiters were also the owners and/or managers. They were as attentive as two people could be while serving a full restaurant. The food was mediocre, I don't think worth the prices on the menu. Dessert and coffee were delicious though so a nice way to end the meal."

"I took my mom here for her birthday dinner before a show. We ordered from the three course prix-fixe menu, and I thought the selection and value were very good. The wine was a generous pour, and the bruschetta tasted authentic. My penne alla vodka was nothing special, but tasted pretty good and had a lovely al dente bite. My mom said her chicken marsala was wonderful, and the meat was very tender. It seemed that our waiter disappeared after delivering the entrees, so I had to request to another waiter to bring our desserts as soon as possible, as we had a show on Broadway to get to. This server was very attentive, delivered the desserts quickly, and made sure my check was rung up and brought to the table right away. Overall, pretty great!"

"We had a coupon so decided to try Gente. The food was good not outstanding. The service was attentive and efficient. The caprese salad was a little bland but the osso bucco was very good. The chocolate lava cake was not very well prepared as it fell in in the middle and was a little over cooked. Overall it was just ok"

"We tucked in here during the snowstorm on 2/8/13. There were not many diners out in NYC, but the staff was great to us. There were only about three tables the whole time that we were there. Everyone was very charming. They could have simply wanted to get out of there on a terrible weather night, but instead, they were gracious and accommodating and served us lovely food and good wine."
