• Michael Garozzo, his wife Marguerite and their four daughters own and operate Kansas City's most awarded and popular Italian restaurant. Garozzo's boasts fine dining cuisine, moderately priced, in a family atmosphere. The restaurant is Zagat rated as one of the top Italian restaurants in the country, a Kansas City dining tradition for nearly 20 years. Garozzo's is where their signature dish Chicken Spiedini began, now often imitated and never duplicated around town; Garozzo's has made Chicken Spiedini a Kansas City staple. The Garozzo family and staff welcome you to any of four locations in the Kansas City area for a true Italian dining experience.
"I've been to Garozzo's three times now, never had anything particularly great, but this was the worst. I ordered the Triple something-or-other, which turned out to be enough pasta to feed three people, the worst marinara sauce I've ever encountered, covered in flavorless provolone cheese, and one giant, OK meatball the size of my fist. It was pretty much impossible to eat, and cost $20. Ugh. The appetizers were just as bad and disappointing. This place seems to rely on ambiance (Sinatra music and dim lighting) to carry the day. Personally, I would never go there unless invited, and even then, I have to love the person a lot to put up with this junk."

"Reservation was made and Garrozos accommodated our party. Artichoke appetizer was not thoroughly cooked, and the heart was removed. Side house salad was dripping with dressing. Tortelloni Gina was supposed to be a creamy sauce, but was so thin it was more like soup. Server was not enthused to be working that evening and needs to brush up on etiquette skills. Good thing she didn't pour more water into my meal as she filled my glass still on the table reaching over my head. Way over priced for way too much garlic! We won't be returning."

"Food was awesome. Waitress was just ok. She was willing but not quite able. It was our 1st time to Garozzo's and we needed help with the menu and the selections. She did not have the knowledge of the menu that we expect from a restaurant of Garozzo's caliber and reputation. One of the items we were interested in, she had "never tried" nor did she offer any opinion or encouragement. The lighting was also a little too dark. Good for the ambiance but not for the eyes. The fact that the wait staff all carry flashlights is nice but certainly an indication that it was too dark. A few inconveniences, but do not lose sight of the fact that the food was as good as it gets."

"Came here with my boyfriend for our two year anniversary. Food was great! Our waitress was very sweet. I do want to mention I ordered the Homemade Gnocci with Pesto Cream sauce + chicken. The Chicken never came on the pasta, but I ate the meal anyway.. IT WAS SUPER! I told the waitress about the Chicken and she sincerely apologized and took it off the bill. I will always come back to Garozzo's because the food and service is always great!"

"We had an outstanding dinner and drinks that night and the service was one of the best experiences I have had in a resturant. The food, what can I say, it is Garozzo's. I have never had a meal there that wasn't excellent."

"Although we've been to the downtown site a number of times this was our first visit to the OP location. We were meeting friends from Columbia, MO in town for a JCCC event. We had a wonderful dinner at your restaurant and will certainly be back again. Our server, Eric, was exceptional-very helpful with both dinner and wine selections-and attentive to all our questions and requests. My husband and I shared the Chicken Georgio which was delicious-the chicken was very tender and we liked the combination of the tomatoes and spinach. One friend had the rigatoni which we all tasted and liked very much as well. The white wine recommended by Eric nicely complemented the pasta. We saw some tiramisu dessert go by and will have to try it next time!"

"What a wonderful dining experience. Started with use of the open table app that got us right in, once there we were seated within just a few minutes. The restaurant was not too busy yet there was a marked delay in having the waitress come to the table, but after stopping by the first time she had perfect timing everything perfect. Our waitress recommended a lovely bottle of wine and at the end of the evening a few sweet treats. Prior to leaving invited us back and made sure to mention that they have a 1/2 price wine night on Sundays."

"We enjoyed the brunch. Food was great. However, my autistic step-son had trouble with the 'tight' space where the buffet was set up. It was difficult to get to the various food stations due to the blocked traffic flow."

Review 13 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"As always the food was amazing and the service was great, but the ambiance at at the OP Garozzos is not exactly what I would call nice. The floors look awful and the Olathe ambiance is WAYYY better. If you are looking for food and service only then go for it otherwise take a few minutes and drive to Olathe."

Review 20 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"Spiedini is their specialty...chicken, shrimp...any meat rolled into small balls and skewered. Chicken garozzo was great. Serving sizes big...plan on box for home. Calamari was tough, unfortunately. Wait staff pleasant and friendly. Pinot Grigio from Garrozo Cellers surprisingly good. Will go back again."

"Out of our group of 8, six had been there before....maybe not that particular location, but one of the locations. Now, all eight will return again at some time to any and all locations. Always look forward to Garozzo's with friends or family."

Review 23 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"We got there early @ 5:30PM in time for our reservations. Service was very prompt, food was excellent, and ambiance was good except for the bratty kid at the next time (nothing you can really do about that, I know). All in all, we were in and out in a little over an hour with two big takeout containers. The waiter's suggestions were right on the money as well."

Review 28 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"As always the food was excellent, service was good and you have to love the Speidini. Unfortunately for this trip, I booked the reservation through open table and wasn't able to speak to a host/hostess directly and request seating in the main dining room. We were placed at a small table in the corner of a back serving room usually used for banquets. This small back room simply was not the ambiance and experience I had hoped for when making the reservation and investment in an evening at an italian favorite. I'll be back for the food, but I will either choose another location or speak with a host/hostess for reservations so I'm not shoved to a back room."

"Entrees were great. Husband had Cannelloni and I had Spiedini. Only complaint I have is that the bread had been sitting out for a long time and had dried out.
There were several large groups dining that night also and servers were handling it well."

Review 31 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"It was Valentine's Day. Although we had made and confirmed (they called us that afternoon) a reservation for 4, we waited 40 minutes for our table. Extra tables had been added for the evening and it was very crowded and very noisy. We were surpised that we were not offered an apology for the long wait. But dozens of others endured similar waits. The food was excellent, which offset the issues."

Review 39 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"Based on awards & reviews, I expected a lot more from Garozzo's. We ate there for Restaurant Week & assumed the offered courses would be their signature dishes. The soup was salty & the salad soaked in dressing...the diablo pesce pasta was a huge disappointment- it lacked spice, the sauce was tremendously watery & the fish was very rubbery (even for clams and calamari). The service was rushed us repeatedly thru our courses without even noticing the diablo dish went untouched- simply offered to box it. The ambiance had great potential for a romantic night out but one table had to break out flashlights to read their menus! The redeeming virtue was the fantastic desserts. A lot of hype but disappointingly, I would not recommend it."

Review 40 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"We used to go to Garozzo's all the time. However, in recent years, our go to place for Italian has become Carmens. But, since Garozzo's takes reservations and it was Friday during Restaurant Week, we decided to give Garozzo's a visit. When we came for our 6:45 p.m. reservation, there was NO ONE waiting. We put in a back room that was only 1/2 full. Since the music in the room kept being turned up, we had to ask the waiter to turn it down. It was impossible for the 4 of us to hear one another. Dinner was good. However, it was no where near the quality of Carmen's or Mio's (one of our new finds). To top it off, there was a $6 charge for my gluten free pasta. Any other restaurant has a $2 to $3 charge."

Review 41 for Garozzo's Ristorante - Overland Park
"We dined at this restaurant for the first time based on a recommendation from a friend. Our server was speedy and attentive. The tortelloni was especially good. We weren't that impressed with the ambiance as we were seated right next to the front entrance. Another disappointment was that we had gone to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and my husband had indicated this on our reservation... however, the restaurant did not acknowledge this at all, so it was a bit of a let-down."
