"I arrive early and had a drink at the bar. Service at the bar was energetic, welcoming, and the drink was presented well. My reservation was ready and I was promptly seated. My dinning guest was nearly an hour late, but the waitress did not appear disturbed or put off by it. Looking forward to future dinning experinces here."

"We recently celebrated our anniversary at McCormick and Schmick's in VA Beach it was our first time there and from the time we arrived for our dinner we were treated royally. They gave us a great table and the service was exceptional. I even made a request for subsitution and the chef and staff accomodated my request without hesitation and by doing so it truly made a difference. I would definately recommend this restaurant to our friends. Thank you for a memorable dining experience."

"We always choose McCormick and Schmick's for special family occasions and each time have had great service until this last Mothers day. We got there at 4PM so it was not busy. Our waitress seemed distracted and unorganized from the beginning. We waited for about 10 mintues before she got to our table and then waited another 15 minutes to get our drink order satisfied. Following that it seemed hit or miss if we would see her especially when we were ready to get our check. We normally spend around $300 on four people and have always had outstanding service to this point. We hope this is a "one time" thing as we frequent M&S quote often for not only dinner but happy hours as well..."

"I visit this restaurant frequently and am generally quite pleased with the overall experience and enjoy the variety of dishes offered - however on the last 2 occasions, the quality of food was beneath their usually high standards. The seafood WAS fresh (mussels, mahi mahi and salmon) however there was an odd "smoky" flavor, almost chemical taste we noticed in ALL the dishes. I commented to my dining partner I detected this flavor in each of the separately prepared dishes-reminiscent of bacon or hot dogs. Additionally, having noticed a trend over the past 6 months finding the food too salty, I requested no salt added and expressed my recent experiences to our (very attentive) server. The meal was uncomfortably salty. I will try again."

"Tuna steak was cold but plates, we each had Tuna, were hot. What does that say? The food was left under the warmer. Also to note the Tuna steaks were tough and over cooked. My son's burger was good and my daughter's Salmon was tasty.

That being said, this was our re-try as the first time we had the same experience with the entrees. Therefore based on two bad meals we will not be going back except maybe for wine/beer and an appetizer."

"This place was very kid friendly, however still quiet. I had the almond tilapia with Jamaican rum sauce, which was excellent. I would like to see a larger variety of sides available. Overall this place is really nice and has a nice selection of entrees on the menu."

"The Hostess Manager walked us all the way through the restaurant to a very dark booth. I had requested a "window booth", and all the window booths were mostly empty. I should state that my husband does not walk well and uses a cane, and was most upset that she walked us all the way through the restaurant. After leaving us standing at the very dark booth she went back to the hostess station and then came back and seated us in a very nice window booth."

"I made reservations for 430 PM for 4 people for Mother's Day since my mom wanted to try this restuarant. Our party arrived around 4 PM (since my family is ALWAYS early). The hostess quickly checked us in and told us it would be a few moments before we were seated. 30 minutes later we were finally seated after my MOM asked how much longer it would be. Now normally this wouldnt have been an issue; however, there were MANY open tables and people who didnt have reservations were seated immediately. Once seated, our service was outstanding and so was the food."

"After an exciting day at my daughter's graduation from ODU, to be able to come to McCormick and Schmick's for a wonderful sit down meal. Service was great! They seated us immediately and our waitress, Veronica, was fantastic. The Blue Crab Dip and the Shrimp Kisses were a delicious start. The Almond Crusted Rainbow Trout was wonderful. We also had Stuffed Shrimp that was cooked to perfection, the Cedar Roasted Atlantic Salmon with a Northwest Berry Sauce, Fish Tacos, the Baked Cod, and Shrimp Mac and Cheese. The waiter also mentioned a new drink the Pomegranate Fizz which was good. Overall our experience at McCormick and Schmick's was wonderful. Thanks for making it a great way to end our day!"

"We made reservations for a Friday night, arrived early and had a few drinks at the bar. When our dinner time approached we were seated promptly. Then we waited for nearly 15 minutes before receiving service from our waitress. She also had a bit of an attitude to her, unfortunately. "I dined at Mccormick and Schmicks to celebrate my daughter's graduation (Doctorate!!!). We had my grandson with us, along with friends. The waitress was pleasant, and more than accomodating to a 20 month old. Before we could even ask or order she bought out crackers for snacks for the little one, and she went back for "more" when he requested this "big-hit" snack. The food was great! The atmosphere was great! The service was great!"

"Made early reservations for our wedding anniversary to avoid Saturday evening rush. We were promptly seated, given special, keepsake menues and seated at a nice table by a window. There was a slight delay in receiving our server's attention, but he made up for it in by being engaging and informative. The food was superior and the service was great. The only detractor on the occasion was that we were seated directly adjacent to a large and loud dinner party and very close to the front door."

"My wife and I went for my birthday about 6:45 PM. Was not many people there. Drinks came late. My wife's tea was brought w/o a cup. Appetizer was nice, but that came late too. Asked for bread and that never came. The seafood meal was just so-so. Fish was bland. Shrimp was chewy. I should have went to Piccadilly Cafeteria. Service would have been better along with the food."

"We came to dine before seeing the show at the Sandler Center and it was a fun, delicious and delightful beginning to a wonderful night. Clay was our waiter and he was very helpful in our wine and dinner selections as well as being very personable. He was one of the best waiters I have had in many years, as he was fun yet still being very professional. I would call him a "perfect waiter". Thank you for a wonderful dining experience."

"Requested specific window seating(in reservation)for birthday dinner. Hostess attempted to place us far away from window, but conceded (without smiling)to my original request. We allotted plenty of time prior to the show, arriving at 6:20p. Our waitress asked if we were going to the show,not sure why, since everything took way too long. Every facet of our meal seemed to be a challenge. It took over 15 min. to receive our 1st beverages, an additional 20 min. to receive one appetizer, and the entrees were not served until 7:40ish. To top it off; many of the food items were cold. The bar was buzzing, but the restaurant had many empty tables. I didn't want to ruin my sister's evening, with placing a formal complaint to management."

"Visiting VA Beach from Massachusetts on Easter weekend we did not know of many places to have a nice holiday dinner so we chose a place we thought would be consistently good. It was. Good - not great. The food was ok with my husband's steak being overdone (not medium rare, but well done) so he had to send it back. Our food was ready so we ate it while it was hot only to have my husband eat his dinner alone. Our waiter was very nice and apologetic which was nice. The food was extravagantly expensive ($250.00 for four dinners with tip) and definitely NOT worth the price of the meal. Although a nice place to eat I would not go there again having other options."

"We went for Easter brunch. I had eggs Benedict, and it was the worst I'd ever had anywhere. The eggs were overcooked--the poached equivalent of hard boiled--and there was just the tiniest drizzle of sauce. The dish, therefore, was quite dry. It was edible, but not especially enjoyable, and I could conclude little else but that whoever prepared it had no idea how to do it and nobody checking his/her work before it left the kitchen. My wife had a salad, and it was overdressed.

The service was good to very good--not exceptional, but relative to the food and ambiance (VERY up-tempo music, and a touch loud) easily the best part of the visit."

"Banana Foster French Toast was so overcooked that it was impossible to cut even with a knife. The strawberry, blueberry, raspberry were the most tart I have ever tasted. The only thing we got with the French toast was the above, plus banana. I thought it had something else listed on menu, but it was not on our serving.

We have eaten there many times in the past. The price was about $15.00 per serving, and I just cannot see that price for what we were served."

"Came to this restaurant for Easter Sunday brunch. The whole event was terrible. Our appointment was for 11 am and we arrive 15 minutes early. They left us outside in the rain until almost 11, even after they walked past at least 15 people standing outside their establishment. Sure they didn't open until 11, but come on, show some compassion on Easter Sunday. Once in, they checked in guests in a unorganized manner taking guests to their tables who just walked in, before seating the guests that had been standing there prior to 11 am. The food was terrible. The eggs benedict was "hard boiled" and we had to send it back! Can't even prepare eggs benedict? I have been to this restaurant before, but this is my last visit!"

"Located in Town Center of Virginia Beach has been an actor of the neighborhood since the opening of Town Center. Unfortunately, like a lot of staples in the community, "familiarity breeds contempt". McCormack and Schmick became lazy and disconnect. I'm happy to say that they're back to their first love. Great service and food.
Obviously, one goes there for the seafood. On this day, I ordered the lobster bisque soup. This course has large chunks of Maine lobster with a broth poured at the table. It's a great starter. My main course was just the Lobster Cobb salad. It's a work of art. There are multiple levels stacked on the plate in a rainbow of colors and flavors.
The menu has plenty of options in fresh seafood and there are plenty of win"

"Our family (14 of us) celebrated a birthday here. The service was outstanding, the food was served hot and all together, the drink refills kept arriving as needed and everyone had a great time and enjoyed the liesure atmosphere.
