A rare steakhouse, well done. Rosebud Steakhouse knows a thing or two about the fine art of cooking. Located on a quiet stretch of Walton Street, this relaxing hideout is the perfect place to enjoy an unforgettable meal paired with a glass of wine from our impressive wine list. The extensive lunch and dinner menus offer mouthwatering steaks, classic dishes like prime New York Strip with herb butter, Chicago Cut Bone-in Ribeye, tender chicken entrees and seafood specialties which have been enhanced to euphoric perfection. The beloved hamburger, voted number one in the city of Chicago by the Chicago Tribune graces both lunch and dinner menus. Rosebud’s irresistible menu will tempt your stomach as much as the cool, hip atmosphere will tempt your eyes. Rosebud Steakhouse invites you to enjoy an unforgettable fine dining experience in a romantic setting.
"My wife and I found that the food at the Rosebud was absolutely perfect and we could not have asked for a better steak or wine. Unfortunately, however, our experience was marred somewhat by our server. We both felt that he was giving us the bare minimum of attention and, while polite, was simply going through the motions. This was very clear because we were seated only about 18 inches from the table next to us. A couple of times while he served our table and when he gave us our check, he continued to talk to the other couple instead of us, asking them about their stay in Chicago. We would give the restaurant another chance because the food was excellent, we just hope the service will be better."

"The food and service were both excellent! Bobby was our server and he was certainly knowledgeable and very helpful. You can tell he has been doing this for a long time and truly enjoys his work. We have eaten here several times and we definitely consider it one of our favorites. The only negative is that it is noisy on the weekends - beacuse the house is always packed! Week days - those are my favorite times when you can still have a private conversation. But is you are interested in great food and outstanding service - put Rosebud Steakhouse on you list!"

"I was visiting "Chicago from San Antonio and wanted to try the much touted Rosebud. Service was very attentive. Bone in filet was nicely prepared and nicely marbled. Overall, crowd was pretty casual. Based on the description and reviews I was expecting a bit more upscale environment."

"This was our first visit to your fine city and restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was fabulous.....I highly recommend the Rib Eye bone in steak.....The caesar salad was delicious, crisp, flavourful and just the right size....The side dishes are definitely for two, so don't go overboard on the ordering.......we will definitely be back......hold our table...LOL. "Perfect seared scallops as appetizer, fabulous Asian green beans, perfect prime rib. Dover sole very good--not earth-shaking but top-tier, nonetheless. Impeccable service, skillful and unobtrusive table-side de-boning of sole. The service made this seem more elegant than the obnoxious TVs over the bar would suggest. The TVs weren't loud but they were there. It's not a sports bar, and if pro athletes hang out there, do they need to watch themselves play? The service and food overcame the busy movement of the screens not so far from us."

"This place has a terrific vibe and ambiance. Very welcoming. The food was mixed. My osso bucco was dry, and my fiancee's filet was middle of the road. Not bad at all but not great either. I do have to say though that the burger was incredible. I sent my osso bucco back, and tried the burger instead. What a great decision! I would recommend coming here just to try the burger, with a side of jalapeno hash browns. Stick with the simple items on the menu and you'll be happy. Also, on the desserts, do not order more than one. We tried the chocolate cake, and it was an extremely large portion. Pretty much an entire cake. Would have preferred a smaller size with more nuanced flavors."

"This was not the first time my wife and I visited Rosebuds and will not be the last. We both love this place and take all our out of town guests here. It is a perfect place for every occasion. The food it perfect. Complements to the chef. The full bar plus a great wine list makes this place a great bar spot if you are just looking for a few drinks."

"The ambience at this place was very nice. We both enjoyed our meals, but would rate them differently. I had the Dover sole, which was excellent. The other diner said that, although she enjoyed her steak, she's had better steaks elsewhere. Neither of us were big fans of the twice baked potato, but the cauliflower au gratin was really nice. Beautiful wine, Good dessert, GREAT service! We'd try it again."

"This was our tenth anniversary. We were greeted will smiles. The service was fantastic. The decor was dark wood like a classy library. There was a glass lighted wine rack along one wall. The bread selection was tasteful. The salad was fresh. I had a perfectly done bone in fillet. My wife had a hand fillet dover sole fish. For dessert we had hot apple pie served in an iron skillet. We will be going there again and I will be recommending this to ask my friends."

"Classic 5* Steak House without the Chain feel. Chicago has plenty of great Steakhouses but this has the old Chicago neighborhood feel and blows away the chains(Gibsons)."

"Rosebud steakhouse is my favorite steakhouse in Chicago. The steaks are cooked perfect every time and the service is fabulous. Also love the higher end wine by the glass. If steak is not your thing, the brick chicken will melt in your mouth. The atmosphere is warm and a sophisticated cosy."

"This was our second trip to Rosebud and the experience was as great as the first. My wife and I both had roasted scallops (yeah, I know it's a steak house but tell that to my cardiologist) and they were both plentiful, fresh and expertly prepared. We had a caprese salad and a raw tuna appetizer and they were both scrumptious. The optional sides are sufficient for two and they're gourmet delights; not just added fill. Rosebud is certainly worth the hour drive from our suburban home and we'll definitely be coming back."

"I made the reservation through Open Table, and was in meetings the entire day of. The hostess seemed miffed that she called to confirm and I had not called to confirm. The kitchen was having a rough night when we went. I rarely send food back, but we sent five things back over the course of the evening. The excuse we were given was that the chef was overwhelmed by a large party in the back. Despite the fact that I finally got my dinner well after my dining partners finished theirs, the service was excellent. The server sent us extra apps and a huge tray of desserts to make up for it. Once the food was correct, it was very good. I think we experienced an off night, which is unfortunate for such a pricey place."

"We've been to Rosebud's on several other occasions and rated it one of our favorites. Now I'm wondering if it's under new management. The whole experience was average. Not what you are expecting when spending $150 per couple."

"Although all four of us live the area, this was our first experience at Rosebud Steakhouse. We were disappointed in being seated in a dark corner of the restaurant where we could barely see the menu, in spite of having 6:30 reservations that were made well in advance. We also felt rushed thru our meal with drinks, appetizers and our main course and sides being delivered too quickly.
We want to point out that the food was delicious, it was just too bad the rest of our experience was not as positive...."

"Atmoshpere was great and the crowd was energetic. We were a party of 5 and had some changes in our plans and showed up 1 hour early. They accomodated us and made room with a great table. Waiter was patient and helpful, but got busy at the end, which took his attention away from us a bit. They mixed up the steak cooking temps (flip flopped a medium and a medium rare), but recovered nicely. We ran out of time for desert, but that was as much our issue as opposed to a busy waiter. Love the location on North Michigan. Lots to do up there and pretty easy to get to and from when you come in the back way and park in the Bloomies lot on Walton and Wabash. All good. Looking forward to going back."

"Our party of 4 were left quite underwhelmed. 3 of us ordered the rack of lamb only to be told it wasn't on that night, so we all decided on none in Filet. We all felt the steaks were dry despite being cooked to the right temperature. I'm certainly not a steak expert, but can only imagine they were cooked sometime earlier and reheated. Very poor for the high prices"

"Steaks were exceptionally good; tasty and tender (the petite filet is far from "petite"); service was wonderful. Side dishes (baked potatoes and mashed potatoes) were each enough for 2 diners. Servers and staff were friendly and accommodating. Dessert was fabulous (creme brûlée). We stopped back in the Rosebud's bar for drinks about 10:00 pm after the show we saw ended. The bartender was jovial and couldn't have been more welcoming; he entertained us as only a professional Chicago bartender can: friendly banter coupled with a genuine smile. I wish I had gotten his name so he'd get some credit. We live 230 miles away and I wish I could back to the Rosebud Steakhouse tonight."
