"We were disappointed to be charged extra for coq au vin option when the ad specifically stated fixed price. Also, the tv ads led us to believe that we would be given some chocolate covered strawberries whereas we were charged $9.95 for three strawberries.

"The food is delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. This is my second visit, the food is consistently delicious, and the staff is friendly. Our waitress was new, not really sure of what she was doing, moved us twice because she couldn't figure out "the numbers" of the booths. She was uncomfortable, sweating profusely and seemed like she had a terrible cold."

"Went for my sons 11th birthday. Had never been there before, so the waiter made recommendations on the menu and how many portions we should order. We got 4 orders of cheese for 5 people (spinach artichoke was the favorite for both adults and 3 kids.). Then had 3 orders of meat, Lobster tail, teriyaki sirloin, and mahi mahi. We cooked them ourselves in the broth, which the kids thought was fun. You could cook 3 at a time per person, as we each had 3 cooking forks each. The highlight was the chocolate at the end. We got smores and flaming turtle, which were delicious and the kids loved the flaming aspect. Overall, it was a fun meal, great for the kids, and great service. I would go again for a special occasion."

"We try to visit here on special occasions. This trip was our 4 year anniversary. We had great service and we like the new menu style. During our dinner the owner stopped by and inquired how the service was and how we were enjoying our visit. This was nice to see. It made the experience a friendly one. The noise was too loud. I could hear the converstions of a group of ladies a few tables over."

"We are regulars at The Melting Pot and switch between drinks and fondue at the bar. John, the bartender, makes the experience as close to that of the neighborhood bar in "Cheers" as I could imagine. "Menu pricing is confusing., even called ahead to ask. I was told each dish was "x" per person by two different managers. This was not to be true. Pricing really was x undisclosed amount per pot, which on the menu just says "each pot eeds 3 to 4 people" with no differentation in size. They need to fix this on the menu!!
We were in for a shock when we got the bill. We booked for 16, possibly 18, 2 couldn't make it. At no time did anyone explain "pot sizes" v. cost until the end, which still doesn't make sense. Also told we had to pre-order!! We were still charged for 16 people even though we had 13, over $100 difference!
Food is mediocre, expensive as La Fondue, meh in taste, stingier with "dippers" for chocolate! Will not be ba"

"This was the first time our kids had fondue and our server at the Melting Pot was really great! He suggested a number of ways that we could configure the order so the kids could try just about everything, but that wouldn't cost us a fortune if our picky eaters didn't really love it.
In the end, the food was great and everyone was properly sated (not hungry and overly stuffed as can happen with fondue). We really had a wonderful time - thank you Melting Pot!"

"We came in with a Groupon on Monday night for a three course dinner for 2, including a bottle of wine and after dinner drinks. The place was not crowded at all & we were seated right away. Appreciated that the restaurant had a separate Groupon menu, so choosing items was easy. There were a number of technical difficulties around our burner, and the manager was made aware of the situation. It was frustrating how, despite knowledge of the situation, we were not offered the option to move to another table with a functional burner. I have been to the Melting Pot on a number of occasions, and I have always thought that service in this place was always top notch. That night, it was just not at par with my other visits."

"This was our first time using open table and dining at a Melting Pot. Both were outstanding experiences. The ambiance, selections and price of the Melting Pot were remarkable to say the least. Our lead server Chuck, was the right balance of entertaining, knowledgeable and non-invasive. His co-workers were also great support for removing things quickly. They covered each other well. "We have been there before they changed the menu and I like the menu changes. Making it so individuals could select different meats allows a couple or group to let the individual get what they want or to give a group variety. We also have family members with food allergies and it is easier for them to select a meal avoiding things like dairy. When it was based on a couple, we would end up with too much of the cheese fondue. My only wish would be to bring back the Boston lager cheddar fondue with the bacon. That was my favorite."

"We were seated at a table next to a family with three young, screaming kids. The shrieking went on through about an hour of our meal. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, but it was difficult to hear him over the kids. We were seated under an air conditioning vent that made our whole party cold until we asked to have it turned off. I think a better table should have been offered us especially in light of the kids.
The food was good, but cost twice as much as it should have. I'd rather spend $40 at The Vault."

"I had a good time celebrating my oldest and dearest friend's birthday. This was both of our first time at the melting pot. I did not know what to expect other than I knew that fondue cooking would take place at our table. I think that I imagined having our own personal chef, sort of like what restaurant goers have at Benihana, but that was not the case. Instead, we prepared our entree course at the table. The Mojo cooking style was good. We had 4-courses: cheese fondue, salad, entree and dessert. Unfortunately, the portions were small particularly the salad course and the vegetables that came with the entree. So, I'm not sure that the portion size compared to the cost was a great value but I would go back a second time."

"Went with my wife and 2 pre-teen girls. Cheese fondue X 2 was OK. Had the meat/seafood plate X 2. Meats were very good quality and well seasoned. The Coq au vin broth was the better compared to carribbean one. Dessert fondue (yin/ yang) for the two girls was excellent. Only drawback was that this was a very expensive meal. Pricing on the menu is not clear and should be explained to you clearly by the waiter, which our waiter did when sked."

"We did the four-course deal. The cheese fondue was great, the salad was good and the chocolate fondue was great. The main course was kind of lackluster. The broth for doing the vegetables wasn't that tasty. It was a Saturday night, and I guess they were pretty busy, but it took a long time to get through the dinner (2.5 hours)"

Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed. I want to first commend the Melting Pot on their delicious food. It was mouth watering and very delicious. I am writing this review to talk about our experience/ service. I had heard so much on how fun and different the Melting Pot dining was, so naturally I expected it. Our wattress was dry, rude and not personable. She didn't explain to us how the dining worked so when we got our food we felt tricked. When we asked her about what we were getting, she got very defensive and stopped coming by our table. I am not a picky person and really just enjoy the company of the people I am with when dining out, but half of what makes the melting pot great is the experience."

"I took my wife for our first Valentine's day together. She absolutely loved it! It was a set menu with few choices, but a great selection nonetheless, we enjoyed the food. Must say it's on pricey side, but it was worth it for us."

"I've always thought fondue was one of the most romantic types of cuisine. It's slow and intimate, it allows interaction with your date. The melting pot, with its extensive wine list, quiet cozy booths, and friendly informative staff is a great place to bring a date or significant other. On the flip-side, dont expect to leave the restaurant for less than $130-150 per couple. For me that makes it a "special occasion" only resraurant."

"The service was awful. The waitress would disappear for up to 20 or 25 minutes at a time. We would finish a course and sit there with empty plates waiting for the wait staff to show up again. A meal that should normally take around an hour took two hours and fifteen minutes. It was a terrible dining experience. The food itself was okay, but nothing exciting. The price of the meal and the 'experience' was far, far higher than I would have liked to pay. I don't see a compelling reason to ever return to Melting Pot."

"Disappointing experience for Valentine's Day. We were seated at a large long table downstairs despite having reservations. Server was nice but seemed rushed. Added bacon to the cheese fondue without warning (menu made no mention of ingredients) and had to start over (we don't eat bacon.) Restaurant was low on ramekins and other plateware as the server mentioned several times; had to keep going to the kitchen to find some. Another server even grabbed a plate we were finished with, saying "oh good!" Salads were about half the size of usual, and we received smaller protein portions for the meat course. The "bottomless" champagne was a nice touch but overall not nearly worth $99 a person. Halfway through a large loud party was seated next to us"

"This was our first time at the Melting Pot and it was a great experience overall. My husband and I went for a late Valentine's Day dinner without the kids and enjoyed the classic 4-course meal for two and we shared a bottle of wine - delicious! "Good experience for eating at a restaurant. Different from all other restaurants. They make the food in front of you (cheese fondue). You get to cook some of the food yourself (entrees). Good for a first date. However the location of this particular restaurant is not that great. Noisy, you can hear other people talk loud & clear, noise because of caltrain passing by every few minutes. However, like I said, it's a good, different experience. Service is good, wines are good, food is expensive but filling. But a one time experience is good enough for me"

"After they changed the menu, I find that effectively they increased price - less food (both quantity and quality) with higher prices. I don't think we go again for a long long time because for the same price, I have many many other options."
