"This perennially good restaurant is always worth a visit. Their "scones," really just rolls with honeybutter are fabulous, and servers are always willing to bring more. My husband's 6-oz filet and my seafood risotto (a nightly special) were both excellent. The view of Mirror Pond and the flower-filled gardens is always a treat. This restaurant has successfully merged old-style comfort foods (meatloaf is still on the menu) and the Northwest emphasis on fresh and relatively local ingredients with more interesting flavor combinations. We have never been disappointed here!"

"we went to the pine tavern restaurant to celebrate an anniversary. We sat by the window overlooking the garden and deschutes river. the patio would have also been nice if the weather permitted. the scones and honey butter that come with th emeal are yummy and the prime rib was perfect. there is a pine tree growing in the middles of the restaurant that isnt as spectacular as you might think. having some plants around it would make it look more "foresty""

"I made a reservation over a week in advance. Upon arrival the hostesses seemed confused and it took them too long to figure things out. Pretty simple in my opinion....6:30 p.m. reservation and I specifically requested a window table and the first attempt was a table in the middle of the room. Not sure how much experience these ladies have in the restaurant industry but when a customer requests a reservation that far in advance and a window table there should be no question. I got my window table but with a slight attitude from the hostess. Not very professional."

"Our server was attentive, prime rib was med-rare as ordered, and the garden area was beautiful with tulips of in a rainbow of colors; we had hesitated to go based on other reviews but wanted to give another try as we have always enjoyed dinners here. We were not disappointed at all!!"

"We loved the restaurant with its view of the Deschutes River and its very famous pine tree. The ambience in the Garden Room was good with very little noise. Our waiter was very friendly and very informative of the foods and their specialties of the night, We had a large group and he treated all of us with the individual attention had we been a smaller group. The Steelhead was excellent. We will be back again"

"This has been the go to place in Bend, a place you could depend on to be great. I don't know what happened but it is nowhere near what it used to be!!! What happened to the scones? No crowd on the Saturday night before Mother's Day that should tell you something! So sad and disappointing a Bend icon reduced to nothing!"

"Traveling through Bend for Mother's Day weekend and I wanted to dine at Pine Tavern for my present. We used to live in Bend 20 years ago, and dining at Pine Tavern was always for special occasions. This is the first time we have dined there since we have had our 6 year old little girl. I was so impressed with their menu for her. She loved her food, which makes my dining experience so much easier. My husband and I totally enjoyed our meals too. And then when the bill came, and they said my daughter's meal was free, with the purchase of our meals, it was the topping to the experience. It was a completely wonderful Mother's Day meal and I am so glad we were traveling through!!"

the music was not relaing...more like music for a burger joint or sandwich shop
the price increase of needing to pay separately for even a dinner salad was a negative from previous dining
the garlic mashed potatoes with the filet were not as tasty as an entree menu item at The Phoenix that accompanies a $14.95 complete meal for early dining

"Nice ambience, but need to step things up for a restaurant with such a history and location. Those are not "scones", just sweet biscuits...meatloaf dry, thin, and unexciting with barely any sauce...vegetables cut into tiny pieces as if you were in a nursing home...steak salad good flavor but served in a deep bowl, hard to cut. What's up? I am a gourmet cook and know that Pine Tavern should take more pride in it's food preparation and presentation. This is Bend, lot's of competition and competent chefs. Want to come back, but would hesitate."

"Normally we love the Pine Tavern. It represents Bend from long ago, the staff is pleasant and the food good. Maybe we hit an off day. Our waiter seemed to be greatly involved in buzzing around two gentlemen who were the only ones eating on the patio. We had difficulty getting his attention, although he tried his best to handle the various tables. Orders were incorrectly served, burgers were overcooked, the reuben meat was tough--all in all, pleasant to be amidst friends, but I think there are much better venues for lunch."

"The food is good depending on what you order. Disappointed in the overall offerings of the menu-not enough reasonable choice. The menu is in danger of being priced out of the range of upper-middle-class people such as our selves. A 32 dollar steak should at least include a salad. I had the New York steak; it was good but not excellent for that price. I would give it an 85 out of 100. You are competing with many other restaurants that have similar menus but with much greater choice and often better value. These are tough times. Your restaurant is attempting to move up to a level of gourmet dining that may not be practical for today's family dining. We did receive a fantastic complimentary mud pie to celebrate an anniversary! Thank you!"

"We have been there many times before, and loved it. Excellent fresh fish. This time the fish menu was very limited. The meal was good, but not great. Previous experiences were better. I think they may focus on what is "in season", so our timing may have been off. Beautiful place with a great view, and the meal usually is just as good. Not this time, however....."

"I made reservations way in advance and drive 4 hours to get there. I go once a year and used to love this restaurant but was a bit dissapointed this time. First I informed them I wanted a table by the window in the dining room on line. I then called the morning of my reservation and requested the dining room and by the window. I was told no problem we have that on your reservation. So I get there on time and do not get seated by the window. So I asked a person if we could get next to the window after being seated and he said he would check with the hostess. There were 2 tables by the window. I also told my server and he said to me oh they cant promise you a table by the window and didn't do anything to get me the table. The first man did."

Front desk a disaster. Young woman out of her depth, did nothing but look at computer screen. We were seated ten minutes late, walked in dining area to find half tables empty. So why the delay. If that front desk situation does not improve we will not return. There are too many other restaurants in Bend to chose from."

"My wife and I have heard many people talk about Pine Tavern, however it took nearly 2 years for us to make the trek after moving to Bend. We are sorry we waited. The staff was attentive yet not interruptive. Our steaks were the most flavorful steaks we have had in years and they were prepared masterfully. The wine was perfect for our dinner. And, what can you say about the warm, sourdough scones with homemade honey butter. Pine Tavern quickly earned a fond place in our heart and has become a personal destination restaurant."

"My wife didn't say anything until after we had left, Se said to a friend that the Chicken was very dry. I ordered the Shrimp pasta special and it was very good, however the Tomato soup was the worst soup I have ever tasted."

"I am so glad you sent this. I almost called and apologize that I did not. First I was having difficulty finding the restaurant (5:00 pm reservation.) A young man came on the phone and help me with directions. He came by the table later to say he was glad I made it. I had asked for a window table. I was told there was no guarantee but a note would be made on my reservation. We got the window table. Finally, a young man was our waiter. I sensed he was new but maybe not. He was very,very attentive. I changed the salad on my order and he explained there was an additional charge. He checked back to see if my steak was cooked correctly. He checked to see if anything additional was needed. All in all, I was very impressed!! Thanks!"
