Feng Asian Bistro is definitely the place to be. The overall impression is stunning and the swirl of the crowd is exciting. The mix-match possibilities of a menu with sushi and sashimi, rolls, hand rolls, platters, main dishes and sides boggle the mind. Just reading the sushi bar menu makes your mouth water: "Foxy Lady" with calamari, papaya, avocado and salmon; "Italian Stallion," with shrimp tempura, cucumber, asparagus, spicy yellowtail and aoko and momiji sauce; and Feng's signature roll "Number 93," with deep-fried soft shell crab, Parmesan cheese, jalapeno, black caviar and flakes of real gold. With its sophisticated, upscale atmosphere, Feng seems more like the type of restaurant you would expect to find in New York or Boston. It is a refreshing change of pace for diners in the market for something a little more out of the ordinary.
"Overall very good meal. Aged Miso soup app was outstanding, as was the sushi. Lettuce wraps were very good, but my wife's app-as-an-entre order of the Chef's Meley was mediocre. Dry meat and bland ribs, though the dipping sauces almost made up for the dissapointing meat. My herb crusted salmon was delicious.
Ambience is very nice in the back room, service was very good."

"Very inventive sushi, not really for purists, but excellent all the same. Expensive, so probably not a good place to bring the kids, but great for a romantic night out."

"I was travelling from Charlotte, NC and a local recommended this restaurant. I brought 3 colleagues and we had a great dinner. I had one of the specials, halibut with brussel sprouts and edamame, and I've never had a better dinner. The Saketini was just right with lots of fresh cucumber."

"Planned a nice romantic dinner for two. Asked for a booth when booked reservations and received just that! Service was great. Food was absolutely outstanding. Second time dining there and definitely will be back again!"

"Feng has always been my favorite restaurant in downtown Hartford. That evening we ordered the Chilean sea bass, lamb chops and simple salads. Excellent all around from service, food and ambience! Oh and the molten lava chocolate cake for dessert. If you haven't visited you must!"

"Plenty of space, nice decor; if you like dimmed lighting, the ambience is very nice. Imaginative menu. Best Dragon Roll I have found anywhere---large, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Also appreciated was the waiter's meticulous attention to my wife's need for gluten-free dining--he checked and double-checked every dish she ordered. Really nice place for a romantic dinner for two, but a party of six on the other side of the room seemed to be having a happy time."

"Service was terrible. Our meals were suppose to come with soup which did not arrive. When our main meals were served, had to track the waiter down and indicate we had not recieved the soup which he said he would go get. He never did. Brought it to his attention again when he came to clear our plates. Not a good service experience at all."

"Sushi terrific, creative and fresh! Nice decor. Staff attentive and knowledgeable. Best Japanese in the area. Parking is expensive and limited. Valet parking very expensive."

"We eat here frequently and the food and service are always top-notched. This day, however, it took nearly 30 minutes to get our food - not sure why - they weren't overly busy - and no explanation or apology offered by the waiter. I will write off to just an off day. Nonetheless, the food was great."

"Feng's food was wonderful - we sampled tuna wontons, specialty cocktails, a sweet potato roll, a Chef's choice sashimi along with a few others. It did seem that the food was overpriced and the service was stuffy. Ambiance could be lovely, it was just nearly empty while we were there so it was hard to tell what it would be like when busy. I definitely enjoyed my dinner but would choose to try another restaurant in town next time we are back instead of Feng again as it was so expensive for the experience."

"Great food and presentation. The only criticism I had was the shrimp tempura was alittle hard and seemed ore prepared but everything else was top notch. The ambiance is great. We lucked out and asked for a table that was not the two person tables that were all right next to each other. The best thing about fengs is the service. Nice and dilligent wait staff and bus boys. Quick service. Alittle pricey but does not break the bank."

"Food was cold. Asked for extra sauce didn't get til table finished their meals about 30 minutes later. Steak/ potatoes were cold. Waitress was unattentive and not very friendly. Surprised the they didn't have scorpion bowl which is pictured on hartfords website. For price charged ( bill for two was 140) quality(was good but should not have been cold) of food/ service would not recommend this location."

"We had a wonderful experience at Feng! The service was spot on, and the food came out quickly with perfect timing between courses. I would have to say that it was the best sushi we've had! All of their dishes were fantastic. Can't wait to be downtown, again."

"As always, this restaurant did an outstanding job while we were celebrating Valentine's Day. This in spite of a computer glitch that prevented the various departments from communicating with each other. We will surely return for more special events in our lives."

"Feng was very crowded so service a bit slow - but the food was outstanding! The shrimp and chicken wonton soup was wonderful - the dumpling dough like silk - so light.
We will definitely go back againa nd eat at their great looking sushi bar."

"The food was fantastic, the service was great--not too rushed, but not slow either. Our only complaint was the weird vibrations in the back room where we were seated. I have to assume it was some sort of heating/ventilation system issue. The floor, table, and chairs vibrated at a constant low hum for the entire time we were there."

"We love Feng, and we're so glad it's located in downtown Hartford - please don't ever move! The restaurant helps bring vibrancy to the city, never mind GREAT food...
We loved the ginger scallion pancake stuffed with lobster, the kobe/pork dumplings and the chef's choice sushi/sashimi combo.
Thankyou also for participating in the Taste of Hartford Restaurant Week. The special menu was a nice option.

"I went here twice for the taste of Hartford, fall 2012 and winter 2013. I must say that the food here is either a hit or miss, last time I had the most delicious food from the beginning to the end. This time the sashimi was not so fresh and the tapioca pudding was actually rice pudding which was disappointing. Ordering the rolls in general are very good but pricey, the appetizers are delicious as well but they are very tiny and pricey. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny!"

"While the sushi was high end I was hungry. Seemed like I kept eating and wasn't getting full. If you want exquisite sushi, a beautiful atmosphere and top notch service Feng is for you. If you are starving, better eat before you go.
Never had a better waiter ever ever."
