Lightfoot Restaurant was named in honor of Loudon County hero and American Statesman Francis Lightfoot Lee, who was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Lightfoot offers local color steeped in history, imaginative cuisine that tastes as exquisite as it looks, and an ambiance that is captivating and uniquely elegant.
Lightfoot serves Lunch and Dinner Daily. Fine Dining in the dining room and casual dining in our bar area. We also offer three private rooms for Corporate Functions, Weddings, and Private Parties. "Always something when we go here-mostly food is excellent but this time we waited 30 minutes after we we finished our salads and a waiter came and started to completely clear the table and took our bread and never returned it... even after we informed him we had not eaten our main course yet!!! Reservations were at 7:30pm so not like we were the last diners of the evening!"

"The decor was outstanding. The incorporation of parts of the old bank vault was tastefully done. The old wood finishes were well maintained and added to the ambience. The staff was impressive in the way they presented themselves and added to the overall experience. We were seated right away and were immediately greeted by our server who proceeded to do an excellant job. Thde only downside was that we arrived before 5pm and were still in the lunch menu status. The food was served in a timely fashion and was cooked well. All in all it was a great experience and I would love to return and try the kitchen seating."

"We dined on a Friday evening. The place was half empty but we were seated at a small table that adjoined a column, further cramping the seating. I wanted to protest and get a larger table but my companion had already sat down and, due to a painful knee, did not want to get up again. There was no excuse for cramming us on a small table when the restaurant was half empty.
On the other hand, the food, both appetizers and main courses, was excellent ."

"Great in every way! One of our favorites. Charming setting and decor. Service was paced just right, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Food was delicious--4 different entrees--all great. Very nice setting. Noise volume a little high, but not noisome. You can speak normally. If you want silky silence with background music, they don't have it, but they have everything else."

"My husband took me my birthday. Both extremely disappointed! Quality of food has greatly declined. Usually at least one of us is "a winner" but we both lost this time. Fried green tomatoes, no taste except for the heavy batter and overpowering sauce. Wild mushroom strudel, sauce heavy with an unpleasant taste. Pasta main course with bay scallops and shrimp was tasteless. Never seen my husband leave more than half a pasta dish behind. Asparagus overcooked and tough. Filet, a poor cut -lots of fat and gristle. Neither of us finished any of the courses and no one asked if there was a problem. Such a disappointment! Except for a party upstairs, the place was almost empty, guess this should have told us something."

"we chose lightfoot for a special occasion family dinner because we know it is greatl, but it exceeded all of our hopes. our server, Lindsay, was perfect. I would definitely ask for her again. The food was super great. We were six people and everyone was very happy with their meal. Of course, we had the fried green tomatoes for starters. I had the shrimp and grits; my husband had the duck. Our table shared three very special desserts. We are already looking forward to the next time we can make the trip to Lightfoot. Thank you to Chef Ingrid and Lindsay for a five star perfect dining experience."

"I went there with three girlfriends on Saturday night and had a great time. The food was delicious. We had one Gluten-Free person with us and it was such a great surprise to see the large assortment of GF items identified on the menu. Our server was attentive without being too much, he definitely understood we were there to talk a lot and just relax."

"The food here is fantastic. Filet mignon cooked to perfection just the way we liked it. Lots of high quality meals and great selections along as you're willing to pay.

"Arrived 20 minutes early (7:40pm) & were told by the hostess "Well, your table will be ready closer to your reservation time! You can wait at the bar!" Waited on a group taking pictures in the tiny area near the front before we could proceed. Bartender did not appear to be familiar with liquor on hand but after direction to the correct bottle, he did pour a good mixed drink! Less than five minutes later, the hostess told us our table was ready (at 7:45). Our waiter disappeared at least 3 times before telling us the specials. He was not attentive & another waitress took over (good!). Steak & cake special was poorly seasoned & crabcake was burnt; Crab-stuffed shrimp linguini was mushy and bland; pork shank was good but the sides were not!"

"My wife of 35 years and I had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary at Lightfoot. The food was awesome and the service was perfecttion!! Since we were celebrating, we were placed at a table in a quiet corner and received a complimentary glass of champagne which was very romantic. The fried green tomato appetizer was my wife's favorite dish. All of our food was prepared perfectly. We always enjoy our visits at the Lightfoot and save this restaurant for "special" occasions. We would definitely recommend it to others."

"My two daughters and I spent Saturday and Sunday in Leesburg for Mother's Day and because I had lunch at Lightfoot and loved it , I made reservations for the 3 of us to have dinner at Lightfoot. We chose the Plank for an appetizer which we devoured and would order it again. We each had a glass of wine with dinner...all great wine. I had the Duck Breast which was absolutely delicious. My oldest daughter had a wonderful Halibut dish which I believe was a special. My youngest daughter had the best Shrimp and Grits that she has ever had...even in NOLA! The waitress was amazing and very helpful. My daughters both had dessert (Creme Brulee and a Sunday) which they devoured. It was the highlight of our perfect Mother's Day Getaway."

"We had been looking forward to dining at Lighfoot based on previous recommendations from friends. The experience would have been much more pleasant if our waiter didn't approach the table like Glum from Gulliver's Travels. It was clear he did not want to be there. We did not have a large party (just 4 of us). I understand everyone can have a bad day, but unfortunately for us this started our experience on a low note.

The food is always consistently excellent as well as beautifully presented ... excellent food quality as well... always fresh and delicious. Don't pass up on dessert either!!"

"We enjoyed an exceptional selection of choices. My partner relished the squash bisque and I savored the crab bisque; both were healthy portions served in uniquely designed bowls contributing to an attractive dining experience. My Parisian Salmon was outstanding; the seasoning on the salmon burst fresh flavors into a traditional fish dish.
The atmosphere was slightly disconcerting. The tables for two people were very close together and took away from any romantic or merely private conversations. Also there was a table full of tipsy drinkers nearby whose laughter and cackling invaded the whole room. My partner and I were relieved when they left so we could converse without having to raise our voices and disturb the other couples next to us."

"I took my wife to Lightfoot for our 6th anniversary. We were both very pleased. The building is really cool. Apparently it was once a bank and was remodeled into this restaurant. The decor included vault doors (I assume it was genuine), fancy stairway, a piano and more. It was really neat.
The food was awesome. Presentation on the plate was attractive and the portion size was large. Food was a tad expensive, but not shockingly so. We spent $150 for the two of us including appetizers, salad/soup, main course, a couple drinks each and dessert.
Service was very professional and polite. We were one of the last reservations and felt no rush from the staff and I didn't notice anyone "closing up shop" as we finished our meals.
I will return!"

"Having been to the Lightfoot about a half dozen times in the past 15 years, it's definitely a "Special Occasion" type of place, and it continues to live up to its reputation. I went there on a Tuesday evening with my wife to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary, and it was well worth coming back. It was particularly nice to be seated in a secluded corner of the restaurant on a quiet Tuesday so that we did not have overlapping conversations with our neighbors. The menu is somewhat limited, but that is often not a bad idea, as it emphasizes quality choices. I'll certainly be back for another special occasion!"

"My fiance and I came to Lightfoot in our hunt to find a rehearsal dinner location. I was so pleased to see the wonderful space for groups or all sizes (check out the upstairs) and the great variety of food that could accommodate even the pickiest of eaters.
The staff was friendly and knowledgable.
I look forward to exploring the option to have our rehearsal dinner here more and hope to try more dishes. (The peking duck quesadilla will be hard to top, though!)"

"I've eaten here before and I'm usually satisfied with the service and the food; however, my most recent experience was a severe disappointment. I had the filet mignon, and while it was cooked properly - rare - it had no flavor. The unnecessary onion straws that topped the steak were saturated in oil which leaked onto the steak. The three stalks of asparagus also had no flavor, and the bernaise sauce tasted like mayonnaise. My date had the salmon and said it was ok, but nothing to brag about.
Our waiter seemed a bit grumpy and didn't check on us for refills until we had both been finished with our food for some time.
With all of the fantastic restaurants in this area tthere is no reason for me to visit this restaurant again."

"Everything was great for my senior prom dinner with my friends, except for when the fire alarm went off...my friends and I were enjoying dessert and we were not panicked when the alarm went off, just lost. None of the waiters said anything to let the customers know that everything was okay!"

"Everything was very good. Only one little point regarding the flank steak salad. The flank steak was a little overdone and therefore tougher then it should have been, but the rest of the preparation was outstanding. All the other meals were excellent. A real gem and we will return."

"I usually LOVE Lightfoot but not this time. The crab bisque was amazing but the cheeseburger was terrible and best described as mushy. The fact that the restaurant charges you full price for a soda refill and doesn't tell you is NOT acceptable or necessary. The birthday coupon I used (sign up and get $15 off $60 wasn't used correctly and I was only discounted $7.50. I realized this when I got home and called the next day. 2 days later, after no response back, I called again and spoke to the accountant. Days later I hadn't heard back. Called again, spoke to manager, said it should have been credited. Days later it wasn't. Called again (16 days later) and got an attitude from the accountant. Hopefully that was the end of all this ..."

"I had been to Lightfoot years ago for lunch and had a very pleasant experience but really wanted to go back for dinner. We decided to go for my husband's birthday and were NOT disapointed! Everything we had was delicious: the crab bisque, fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits and eggplant parmesan were all delicious...but the french onion and wild mushroom soup was hands down the best soup either of us have ever tasted. We are ruined and will never be able to order it anywhere else--so good! There were lots of items on the menu that jumped out of us including several of their salads. We can't wait to go back SOON for lunch to order another crock of that delicious soup and the mixed berry salad (which we didn't have but sounded wonderful)!"

"Having dined at Lightfoot several times in the past, we already expected a great evening. This past Saturday we took friends with us who appreciate good food and a pleasant venue. Lightfoot provided both. Our menu choices were prepared to perfection and were absolutely delicious. An important contributor to any dining experience is the wait staff. Ours was terrific. Phillip was friendly, efficient and attentive to the details of our party. When our friends asked for black napkins, rather than the white ones provided, Phillip was quick to oblige. Of course, the food was over the top delicious --that goes without saying. Thanks Lightfoot - we will all be back soon. Whether lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong with Lightfoot."

"This was our first visit to Lightfoot. We found the food and service to be very good but we were surprised at the noise level...quite a bit louder than we expected.
The fire alarm went off during our visit and the staff appeared a little unsure how to handle it. Maybe it's a regular occurrence but it would have been nice if someone would have given some instructions and/or explanation."
