"We stopped in after matinee and so were seated early. The meal was excellent - one of the best restaurant meals I have had in years. Perfectly prepared and matched well with the house Sancerre."

"We went for the birthday of my mother during our one week stay in NYC to the Triomphe and the Diner was realy tasty and realy great. Also the white wine was also great. I could only recommend this restaurant for everyone who want to have a delicious diner with a pretty atmospehre. We would come again, when we are the next time in NYC."

"I took my friend here to celebrate her milestone birthday. She was amazed how fantastic the food was, how prompt the service and great the evening was in general. This is a hidden gem in near the theater district"

"I wish I could truly recommend this restaurant. The food was a major disappointment. Our first courses were delicious - I had the lobster dumplings and my husband the tuna crodo. Both were delicious and it is based on this that I am giving the restaurant three stars instead of two. The promise is there - but our main courses were just plain not good. My husband had the sole meuniere - and said the sole had a nasty fishy taste. I took a homemade pasta dish and the tomato sauce completely overwhelmed the delicate ricotta pasta. Complete with capers and spices, you only tasted the sauce.
The restaurant is small and having a very noisy group of 5 seated next to us made the sound level difficult to overcome. d"

"The wait staff were very friendly and helpful but the food was very run-of-the-mill. Freshly prepared but with out much flavor, the food was a disappointment as the menu was nicely done and promising. I would recommend the Triomphe for breakfast , as that was very good!"

"Recently went to Triomphe after a few years. Menu is pretty standard French with some almost random seeming Asian accents. Sole meuniere next to a tuna sashimi dish. Didn't really see the flow. The most random part was the bread. It was too sweet and overly seasoned with fall spices, like allspice and cinnamon. Not the way I expected a meal to start. Give me some crusty baguette--so I asked, and they did! Service was very good. Made great recommendations and helped guide through a few pairings."

"We had the Chefs tasting menu and the food and wine pairings were fantastic. The service was great as well, attentive , well paced and courteous. Intimate setting, tables a bit too close for comfort. Classy night out guaranteed."

"Triomphe was a triumph! Excellent food, a beautiful room, friendly service, and a relatively quiet noise level. It's not inexpensive - but worth it. Perfectly cooked halibut (the special fish)was especially delicious."

"Well, the food was fabulous! Best french cuisine I ever tasted! my mother had a a great time and she adored the flour less chocolate cake, as well as my creme brulee was delicious as well (my first time eating one). My mother and i had a great time and it was completely worth the price. :) I will come back again one day. Oh and by the way the steak was soooo good that it melted in my mouth along with the Parmesan risotto, and my mother loved her fish and garlicky spinach! Thank you so much, keep up with the good work!"

"Previously we had a very nice dinner. This time we decicided to try lunch. Rather than a bread roll, you are given a delicious freahly baked baby corn bread. Presented with this is a butter spread which is of no value as the bread crumbles. We each had a glass of wine. My wife started with a very nice beet and goat cheese salad and I had one of the sides (garlic spinach) to start. Both were excellent and quite large (my wife could not finish hers). We then had the salmon entree, which was very good. Again, all portions are very ample. We decided that on next visit, we will likely simply order an entree or one of their small dishes and a dessert. A good choice for lunch might be their omelette which comes with a salad and costs only $17.00."

"We used a Travelzoo coupon for a six-course tasting menu with wine pairing. It was delicious, from the lobster dumplings to chateau briande to the warm bread pudding. The wines were French and good."

"This restaurant has gone way down hill, although the prices have gone up hill. The salad was ok but the main course -- all of it -- was simply awful. (I had the sole.) This was the second disappointing meal there, after having gone to the restaurant many times over many years. But I've had it. No more."

"Food was average, not special. Foie gras was uneven. Main course (osso bucco) was served luke warm and not a great preparation or selection of shank. Desert (chocolate torte cake) was not memorable. I expected much more for the price. Food came very quickly (can I say too quickly, given that it was not hot)."

"Just wonderful! I love this restaurant. They do everything right. Expensive but worth every penny. I am still thinking about the lobster dumplings. They were that good. We didn't even order alcohol and unlike some restaurants we have been to there was not that note of disapproval I often record."

"I had a fabulous meal at the bar of Triomphe. I ordered lobster dumplings as my appetizer and they were scrumptious. I then ordered the rack of lamb. Another great choice. I did not feel rushed and the bartender was engaging. Definitely would recommend, especially to those staying at the Iroquois Hotel."

"Although we felt the food was very good, it was a little overshadowed by the "hovering" of the staff. At one point there were five waiters in a small room. They stood around and constantly watched our plates. Every time one would walk by, he would look over at our plates. As soon as the last bite went in or a fork or spoon went down, there was someone waiting to take it away. The matire d' also walked back and forth a lot looking at our plates. They weren't extremely busy and maybe this would not have been the case if they were busier. Also, we felt the entrees came too soon. As soon as the salad plates were taken away, the entrees were served. Our waiter seemed inexperienced. He didn't know about the wine or what biscotti was."

"My girlfriend and I went there for Valentine's Day and it was wonderful. We had a prefix champagne and food meal and everything was delicious. The resaurant is very small and if you sit against the wall you are in close proximity of other tables, but that is just something to be aware of. The fact, did not detract from our experience."

"You expect so much when you walk into this charming gem. The service is impeccable, tons of ambiance, and then the food arrives which is pretty mediocre. My boyfriend had the fish which he barely finished half, even the Creme Brulee tasted as if it had been around awhile, my dinner was edible. During our trip we dined at several restaurants but we both agreed food wise this was our least favorite. Was surprised that on Valentines Day the restaurant was completely dead with just a couple tables filled."

"The menu choices were both what you would expect but also finished to a high culinary level. This is much better than a chef trying to convince you that some esoteric version of a dish is something that you SHOULD like.
This is a small restaurant that is quite cozy in the bar and more conventional in the dining room with brighter lighting. Everything is done to a pretty high standard as you might expect from a restaurant in this category and location.
The service was very attentive and profesisonal. The quality of the food ingredients was very high and the preparation was both artistic and good tasting. My wife and I recommend this place to anyone who appreciates fine dining."

"Shoebox size gem, looks bigger than it is (well-placed mirror). Fantastic service, sophisticated crowd, great food in an area that has too many tourist traps. Wines by the glass well-chosen, given the quality it's surprising that reservations seem easy to get. Been there 4 times - never had anything that wasn't great. My cost for 2 (incl. Everything - tip, drinks... ) : 240$"
