"We come here for special family occasions or for a nice couple night out in the neighborhood. we'll eat at the bar, or with family get a table inside or bettwr out on the patio. atmosphere is great. outside in particular reminds us of past trips to italy. service generally very attentive and personalized. menu is interesting and monthly specials are appealing. all that is great. but somehow the food never quite lives up. Not bad, never anything way off, but never leave there thinking 'wow, i need to order that again'. but we keep coming back, because my teenagers like it, its convenient, decor and service are special, and maybe this time the food will surprise."

"We went to Il Fornaio for a law school graduation celebration. What a wonderful event! We were in the main dining room area, but separated from the hustle and bustle of the full restaurant by a half divider. Our waiter was superb. He assisted our son in making the wine selections which were excellent. He even spoke about the different wineries. Most knowledgable waiter/sommelier we have ever had served us. The food was excellent from the antipasto trays to the dessert. One of our young men had grown up in Europe and was thrilled to have the zabaglione which tasted just like what his grandfather used to make. We can not thank the restaurant enough. Location in tech center is a plus."

"Il Fornaio didn't seem prepared. The greeters were friendly when approached but appeared flustered when I arrived, as if they forgot our table. No eye contact for almost 10 minutes, while later parties were promptly seated. I had to approach again, and still we waited before seating. Overflow & large group tables were in awkward locations for wait staff and customers to access. Our waiter was superb! The food was very good! Finding a meal for my normally adventurous 9 year-old off of the limited breakfast menu would have been challenging if not for the lone waffle option. Though appropriate for dinner, the wait was too long for breakfast or lunch."

"We had a reservation for 5 adults on Mothers Day. They sat us at a 4 person booth. We did not fit and it was very uncomfortable. After waiting about 15 minutes we were seated at a larger table that was more comfortable. We ordered some appetizers. After the appetizers were almost gone our waiter came by and asked us if we would like appetizer plates to eat on. LOL When the food came, my order was not prepared correctly and had to be sent back, another dish was very dry and another dish was very plain and did not taste very good. I would expect, that for the money you pay, the food to be much better. Overall, I would not recommend this place to others and will most likely not go back."

"Please note that we dined on Mother's Day. It was packed and CRAZY. Service and food may perhaps be better on a regular dining day/evening. That being said, it was freaking HOT in our section. Our whole entire group was sweating through our Sunday best. One of our water cups was cracked. We never got refills on our drinks/bread basket. And, it took FOREVER to get our food. Food was okay, but overpriced for what it was. My ravioli was beyond al dente - it was pretty much raw. I will probably give this place another chance, but I think that they need to step up their game for a busy dining day like Mother's Day..."

"We have enjoyed Il Fornaio many times and we have NEVER had as bad meal. Phenomenal Northern Italian food that features different regions every month. The service is absolutely spot on, with everyone highly familiar with their food and preparation. Very nice wine list and a great patio that is wonderful in the evenings, and they don't crowd the tables, so it is very private. We have standardized our special occasions here as we are treated like royalty."

"Il Fornaio has a nice building, with an elegant design. They have very good service, calamari and bread. But that's where it stops.
Of the things I've had this night, or before, none of them stand out in my mind. The food is bland and meakly flavored, and fails to live up to the exotic descriptions rendered by the menu. Most of the time, the sauces taste like nothing more than colored water, or really watery broth. For the prices, I would expect this restaurant to offer food that is flavorful and leaves an impression. But this restaurant fails to offer food better than a Fazolli's or Olive Garden. Sadly, this restaurant's entrees fail to live up to the expectations it's menu, ambiance - and bread - create. I'd skip it."

"I have been at this restaurant many times and this time was a miss. Three people dined and two entrees were terrible. Over salted by the chef etc.
One was a pasta special they had with pasta shells and the other was the risoto special.
Very average meal at a place that is normally good. It was prom night and I wonder if the kitchen couldn't spend the normal amount of time in preparation.
Not sure I will go back."

"I have dined frequently at Il Fornaio. I was very disappointed with this particular visit during one of the featured regional festivals highlighting cuisine from Tuscany.
Two of three of the featured regional red wines were unavailable. The waiter did not make any attempt to substitute other reds for the offered wine flight. I ordered the wild boar entree as part of the regional tasting menu. The meat was bone dry and leathery. Seemed to have been cooked at a time prior to order. I pointed this out to the waiter who said he would look into it. He came back to inform me that the chef had completely removed the item from the specialty menu, yet there was no adjustment to the bill at the end of the meal."

"This particular location had some serious problems during our last visit. Our server was not knowledgeable about the menu, made several mistakes, and was generally unavailable. Our top picks for food and wine were sold out (this was 6:30PM on a Monday). The meat in my dish, an Italian stew, needed 2 to 3 more hours of cooking time. The pasta in another dish was overcooked. Overall, very disappointed with this location. We won't be back - there are too many good restaurants in Denver."

"We made a reservation in advance, got there early, then proceeded to watch 5 or 6 groups get seated that came in after us - not a good way to start. Besides that, the service was decent and the food was mediocre. "So glad that myself and my family chose Il Fornaio for our Easter Brunch. The food was excellent along with the impeccable service that began with our greeting at the front door. We enjoyed each and every bit and left completely stuffed. Oh the dessert...the creme brulee with the chocolate mousse was amazing! Can't wait to come back for more."

"Had not been there since Chef Angel left. Enjoyed it, but think the food is not as good. My pasta was so salty, I had to send it back.
My "hot" tea was tepid and when I asked for a cover for the tea pot to keep it warm, they said they did not have covers? It continued to be "tepid".

"My daughter and I love linguine and clam sauce and there are very few establishments in Denver where you can order it prepared with fresh clams. Although it is not on the menu at Il Fornaio, the chef very kindly prepared it for us. This was not the first time they have made this dish for me and, as a consequence, I will always choose Il Fornaio when I am in the mood for fine Italian food. By the way, it was delicious!"

"This is a go to for anyone with business appointments in the Denver Tech Center area. The staff is helpful and lovely. Even made sure my cab was there on time to take me back to airport. Kitchen needs to pay a little more attention as I asked specifically for no raisins in my couscous and it arrived with them and had to be remade. Unfortunate when you are dining with a client. And thankful someone still makes PLAIN iced tea, not flavored!All in all, will definitely return."
