"Food was not very good. My wife's fish and chips were very dry and overdone. More batter than fish. Both my salmon and halibut were over done as well, and I didn't realize how little quinoa you could put on a plate. I would have typically complained but it was our anniversary and I didn't want to raise a fuss."

"very disappointed in the main dish. Our party of 4 all ordered fish for the main but all came dry and over cooked. Server was willing to send back but there were too many of us. A restaurant known for it's seafood should never do that.

"Server was very friendly and genuine. We were seated on the patio with an excellent view of Rocky Point Park and Burrard Inlet. I had the seafood Hotpot, I was expecting a sizzling 'hotpot' as in Chinese cuisine, so I was a little disappointed there was no fanfare! Seafood was done great but one of my potatoes was pretty-much raw, too bad because that was the only hiccup of the evening."

"My daughter and I have been going to the boathouse for girls nights on average once a month, sometimes more, for years now.
Recently they have reduced their portion sizes which makes the price way to much to justify the cost. Its really too bad. We will have to find another restaurant for our girls nights. I have put an email into the manager 2 days ago. I hope to hear back. Also before the reduction in portion sizes they were selling a membership based on points for dining. I feel that is dishonest becuase they have since reduced their portion sized but not their prices."

"The food, wine and service was excellent . However the parking was atrocious. After circling the lot several times and then parking a block away in an area that threatens ticketing or towing you can imagine the charm had worn off before you even sitting down to a drink and dinner."

"Had an wonderful evening. Every person we interacted with was super friendly. Our server, Alec, was amazing, constantly checking up on us, without being annoying. The food was amazing. The prime rib was incredibly tender and tasty. The seafood pasta was good, but only had 2 shrimps and 1 scallop on a skewer, the rest of the "seafood" was salmon. We found this restaurant a bit pricey, but wonderful for a special occasion, which is too bad, as it would be nice to eat here on a more regular basis. Fantastic location especially if you can sit out on the patio. For a birthday the restaurant serves a piece of mud pie at no charge.

"Special occasion, melted ice in drinks, long (15 min +) between courses. Food okay, but most was cold (Surf&Turf) and overcooked (Rare steak/well-done). Server seemed concerned but 4 hours for a 2 hour meal.

"My wife and I had a wonderful dining experiece on our anniversary. The food was good,our view from our window seat was great and the service was perfect. The people behind us were married on exactly the same day many years ago which also added to the evening."

"We recently attended the Port Moody Boathouse to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. We had an outstanding server and excellent food. Loved the seafood hotpot. I'm a big guy and it was a lot of food! Mussel overload! Yum! The server took good care of us and we got a little extra surprise for our desert to help close the evening. Would go back in a heartbeat."

"I visit the Boathouse about 4 times a year. Last Friday we saw a bunch of changes that were not so promising. A rushed server asked for drink orders & we said would like to choose our food first. Then we waited and waited. I looked at the wine list and noted much higher prices than similar restaurants and no option for a carafe. After our orders were taken we waited and waited and received a salad that we were to share. This uninspired dish had about 6 small leafs of lettuce and not much else. Then about 30 minutes later the main courses: mine was a prawn trio where the prawns were overcooked and the crab-stuffed prawns were mushy, my partners salmon/halibut combo ($31) was so small he ate half of my dinner. We waited 30 m for the bill."

"I had a very specific request for a table as it was my sisters birthday. People without reservations who walked in were seated first, and empty areas in the same server's section that met my request (window, lower floor) were not offered as table options. The booth was super uncomfy for our dad who has back problems. Soup was cold, ran out of desert on the spring selection. Halibut and Salmon were amazing ....
refills on drinks were very slow.
not sure. I've always liked the boathouse, but for my dad's first time there and my sister's milestone bday - it was a disappointment."

"We enjoyed our brunch but felt the portions were a little small. The Lobster Grilled Cheese Benny was ordered by several people in our party and for the most part we felt it was over-priced and had little flavor. It lacked the richness that you would expect from that meal and tasted like buttered bread rather than rich cheese and lobster with hollandaise sauce. Disappointing. Overall the service and food was average. We celebrated a birthday and the complimentary cake was a nice touch."

"I've eaten at the Boathouse in Port Moody a few times and the one in New Westminster once. I can't say I was overly impressed with the seafood at the Port Moody location - the salmon and the shrimp seemed over-cooked each time. I had the crab at the New West location and it was great though.
Ambience and general look of both places was nice, who doesn't love views of the water!"

"This is a great location for a really good view and a good area for walking around before or after your meal. The restaurant itself is very nice, has a good ambiance. The food is just mediocre. The service was good, but we were there very early, and there was nobody else there for probably a half hour"

"The food was good and the kitchen and waittress were very careful to deal appropriately with the gluten free requirements we have. I reserved a week in advance, but still weren't give a prime table by the window even though I asked. Additionally, there were so many tables packed in the dining area that you couldn't move between tables; it was difficult for the server and ourselves. A large man behind us backed his chair up and our guest could hardly move."

"Lovely setting with ample parking next to a popular Port Moody park. Restaurant interior is large, and attractive. A good size outdoor patio adjacent. Restaurant is always busy. Service is pleasant, effecient and as expected. Have eaten at several boathouses - and food at each is over priced and not of write home-to-mother-about quality. Had dined 2 days before elsewhere (less expensive salmon and scallop dinner ). At BH had fire-cooked - salmon to compare. BH lost big time. Knew BH no matter which, serves unremarkable food from a less remarkable menu, and went there for view, not food. In large P Moody BH restaurant those seated away from window get no or less view . Reserve table, expect price, poor food,"

"I took my mom to the Port Moody Boathouse for Mother's Day brunch, and we were both quite disappointed with the selection and availability of the food. Neither of us enjoyed the roast beef, which was quite tough, and three of the buffet pans were empty and were not refilled in the one and a half hours we were there.There were only three salad choices: plain greens, very mayonnaisey potato salad, and tomato salad that was drowned in dressing. We went to the Boathouse on Mother's Day last year and enjoyed the buffet then, but both felt the quality has decreased. I am upset that we were charged $40 for the less-than-mediocre buffet, and we will not be returning next year."

"Just a few comments about the Sunday brunch put on for Mother's Day I attended.
I thought the quality of the food was very good (as expected from The Boathouse) but the range of selections was more limited than I expected for a buffet on mother's day.
Based on the price charged, I think the value rating would be like a '4' rating; somewhat under average and I would not recommended the restaurant for their Mother's Day buffet. I would still recommend for normal dining though."

"The location and the food are worth it, but this is not the place to have an intimate dinner. There are no barriers to divide the space, so it can be a bit like eating in an IKEA cafeteria. No privacy, and on an average busy night it gets pretty loud."

"My husband and i went to the Boathouse for a date night. We were shocked at how many children were there, especially babies. Granted, it was Mother's Day weekend, but still. We ordered several appies and were in no hurry which was a good thing as the kitchen was behind once we had ordered our entree. Since we were quite full from our appies it actually worked out well. My husband had the tenderloin and i had the chicken penne. Mine was good, and he said his steak was excellent however his potatoes and veg were cold. He had butter on the steak that didn't even melt. All in all it was a nice evening, but don't know that we'll be rushing back"

"We enjoy the boathouse. It has great food, service and a view to die for. We also love the building- very rustic West Coast. We can also walk along the water after our meal. As much as we love it- I think it has a monopoly because there are so few good dining establishments in the tricities with the combination of food, service and location."

"Overall experience was good. Seafood dishes were good as usual. We're not happy with the dessert called Champagne Sabayon. The custard was too sweet with minimal raspberries, no blueberries nor strawberries as described on the menu. We voiced our opinion & the waitress agreed to take the dessert off our bill, which was a very nice gesture."

"This is the second time a family gathering has taken on a bad tone due to the inexcusably poor service, it will be the last. This boathouse location is good for beer and oysters not fine dining."

"Possibly the nicest venue of The Boathouse's chain, the food is always good and the service friendly. Vancouver has several popular restaurant chains, and they obviously have to compete. Boathouse seems to be the one to choose if you want seafood, at moderate price."

"Usually based on past experiences (@ various Boathouse locations), the food is good. However, food failed to impress at the most recent dining experience. Interestingly, it was the appetizers that failed miserably. The chowder was bland, definitely lacked seasoning, the yam fries were soft and cold. The saving grace was the crab cakes. They had flavour, but have had better. The entree's were visibly pleasing, and did have flavour. Found it to be a better place for after dinner drinks, dessert and enjoying the scenic view. Our server was great and attentive."

"The restaurant is situated in a beautiful location. It is disappointing that the food is only mediocre. The salmon was over cooked; hence, it was quite dry. For the price of $26, this piece of salmon was served with a few stalks of broccolini. A few pieces of roast potatoes would have been nice and more filling consider how expensive this item was."

"We made a reservation on line for 5 ppl, when we got to the restaurant and were seated. The hostess took us to a table for 4 ppl only. Had to remind her we were 5. We were lead back to the waiting area while they got a table ready for us. Upon arrival I also had informed her we were 5 ppl. This was a birthday celebration and it was a bit annoying."

"The service was excellent (we were served by Rachelle) and the prime rib was exactly what I was expecting - excellent. The planked salmon was a little dry, but the taste was good. The view is wonderful and we had a window table so that we could enjoy it."

"These guys helped my fiancé pull off his proposal for me. I was genuinely surprised and everyone was so happy for us. They even bought our party a round of shots. This place will mean something special for me and my fiancé for life. And oh yeah the food was excellent!!"

"My experience at the Boathouse was exactly what I have come to expect. I had really good food, well-plated, well-flavoured, and very satisfying. I had a great view, it was a good room. The outdoor patio was extremely comfortable. My one complaint was the service. The server was slow, relatively inattentive, and forgetful. That aside, my meal was very good, and I will definitely come back to both the Boathouse in general, and this location specifically."

"The restaurant was pleasant and appealing with an attentive server however our meal took almost an hour to arrive. I ordered prime rib which was suppose to be medium but it was dry, I suspect it was sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. Definitely not juicy as you would expect with a medium prime rib dinner."
