The Mad Platter Restaurant, located minutes from downtown in Historic Germantown, offers daily changing menus and an award-winning wine list. An example of our dishes include: filet of beef tenderloin cracked black pepper crusted and topped with stilton and red wine gastrique, sautéed shrimp and grits, and the mad platter rack of lamb marinated, seared, and slow-roasted to order. Owners Craig and Marcia Jervis met in 1984 while catering the Jackson Victory Tour, fell in love and have been cooking together, literally, ever since. In 1989, after five years of catering, they opened The Mad Platter Restaurant. Voted Nashville's Best Special Occasion Dining and Most Romantic Dining, by Citysearch in 2006, Mad Platter also received 2007 Citysearch's award for Best Caterer and The Nashville Scene's award for Best Date Spot.
"My wife and I had our first date at mad platter a little over a year ago. We have been trying to get back and just now got to it. It was just as good as we remembered it. The Byzantine appetizer was a great opening, especially the walnut hummus. Her spinach salad and my tomato and fennel soup was spot on. She had the beef filet while I had the corn crusted fish which were both excellent. I ordered a side of the vegetable risotto which was a little under par with the other dishes. No enough seasoning. Topped things off with the crew brûlée. Mmmm mmmm. Excellent service and priced appropriately and an overall good experience. I'll be back"

"Went to the Mad Platter for the first time on Mother's Day. We were seated right away and quickly attended by our server. The food took a while to get to our table. I was getting a little worried about the time it was taking, but once the food arrived I forgot all about the wait. My partner and I had Eggs Benedict with Steak and with Crab and they were simply out of this world. The Hollandaise sauce was perfect and had a little kick to eat. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Even their iced tea is special. It has a cinnamon flavor to it and was heavenly. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves good food. I am hoping the slow service was a fluke and willing to give them another chance. Overall a wonderful experience."

"We had a leisurely late brunch/dearly dinner. The ambience is unique and different each time we have visited The Mad Platter. The food was exceptional and attractively presented. We shared the Chocolate Elvis for dessert! What a delight! We will definitely revisit The Mad Platter!"

"Walking into the Mad Platter was like walking into a neighborhood gem in my old neighborhood of Park Slope, Brooklyn. Cool, funky artwork (for sale) on the walls, an exposed brick back wall that has to be over 100 years old, casual yet refined atmosphere, friendly service, and much like Park Slope or the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the star of the show was the food. The vegan ginger carrot soup was amazing. The Citrus and Bellagio salads were superb. The duck breast was delicious. The only thing that kept it from being rated outstanding was my paella dish. It was very good, but its over-tomato'd broth and "fishy" mussels left it short of "outstanding." Wine (Williamette pinot noir and French Chardonnay) was very good. We'll be back!"

"This was a disappointing Mother's Day experience for my mother, I'm afraid. She and my husband both ordered the pork chop. The presentation was nice but the thick chop was chewy, tough, and virtually flavorless. The paella had very good flavor but was more soupy than I would expect from an ideal paella. There was no crunch/soccarat in the dish that I had. I've had good experience the The Mad Platter before, but this was just disappointing."

"So glad some things never change! It's great that a restaurant can be this consistently excellent after more than 20 years in business. Our meal the other night was perfectly executed with impeccable service, in the same old charming atmosphere with original art and books on the walls and hardwood floors. Loved the tomato fennel soup, the crabcake appetizer, risotto and of course the Chocolate Elvis - but the salad, with greens so fresh I'm sure they came from the garden out back, stole the show. MP's 5 course dinner truly is the best deal in town... come hungry!"

"We had a reservation for a late lunch for 6 of us. It was a great gem in a beautiful neighborhood...light fare with a great low key relaxed style about the place, but nice enough to use linen napkins! We had a great table in the back which was next to the kitchen and serving area, but this really wasn't too distracting. The dining room is decorated nicely and fully of bright cheery light. Loved our time here!"

"Restaurants come and go - some, like the Mad Platter - continue to age with grace. My family have enjoyed the great food and ambiance for more years than I can remember and our recent return visit was no disappointment. From the appetizers (tomato soup, cheese plate and Mad Platter Ceaser) to the entrees Maple Duck; salmon and rack of lamb; to the desserts (tiramasu and Chocolate Elvis) we couldn't have envisioned a better evening."

"Hi, Mad Platter is a nice little cafe style restaurant, but I was not impressed with the food. I had the pasta dish with spinach and chorizo, and it just wasn't very flavorful or filling. My friend had the crab cakes and said that she enjoyed them. The ice tea was nice - they brew it with cinnamon and orange. Over all, I would try it again for sandwiches or brunch."

"When choosing dinner out, this is our first choice. We have enjoyed this restaurant for years. My husband frequently enjoys their lunch menu. A year and a half ago he planned a surprise birthday party for me -- it was the BEST! If you are so fortunate to have her as your server, Ms. Brenda is the best!"

"The food was so incredible my mouth is watering even thinking about it. They have a 5 course meal option which is the price of the entree plus $20 which really is an absolute steal. I ordered the truffle and wild mushroom ravioli and it was just creamy perfection. Then I had the potato leek soup which had a nice hint of truffle as well. Perfect consistency. Then the beet salad which was pretty standard. The entree was duck with a cherry chutney - sweet and savory done to perfection! Every bite caused me to make an unsuppressable mmmmmm sound. I felt silly about how much I enjoyed this meal. The wine list is OK - it has about 5-10 bottles per category and has silver oak available if you are celebrating and want something of the fancier fare."

"My boyfriend and I went out for dinner Valentine's day weekend. He ordered the Filet with the 5 course meal package- great deal. I ordered the duck, which was dressed very well, but the meat was tougher than duck meat I've had before. Certainly wasn't the best. My boyfriend's meal was perfectly done. The service was good, although our server forgot our wine until halfway through the dinner even though we ordered it at the start of the night. It was a busy night and hard to get a hold of her. The dessert was amazing (chocolate elvis). Overall we had a good time, nice atmosphere and good food. I'd recommend it for a nice romantic night out- but don't expect the best meal you've ever had."

"Great service. Better food. I'm a cheap college student who took his girlfriend here for Valentine's Day, not realizing there would be a set menu. When it was out of my price range to pay for both of us, I asked our waitress if we could split the 5 course menu and she made it happen no problem. Shrimp and mushroom soup was exquisite. All their desserts are better than the next (they gave us two even though we only ordered one and were stuck deciding between two). Go here tonight!"

"We went for a special occassion and made a reservation. We were seated promptly at our reserved time and our waiter was timely with his service and knowledgeable with the menu suggestions. The appetizer, food and wine were all excellent. Our party was a group of four and we all made different selections for entrees - they were all delectable! We will definitely return to The Mad Platter for the cozy ambiance, terrific food and impeccable service."

"I've been here before and after this last visit regretted not coming back sooner. The duck was amazing - crispy skin like I've never had in Nashville. My girlfriend had the lamb which was tender and delicious. Good selection of wines, and the bananas foster is a must have. They have a 5 course menu which includes a cup of soup, choice of appetizer, choice of salad, an entree and a dessert. It's an additional $20 over the price of the entree you decide on. An amazing deal and every aspect of the meal was great. Our waitress was friendly, discreet, and pleasant - very professional, accommodating, and attentive."

"Very cute and moderately upscale, Mad Platter has great food at a very reasonable price. Their wine list has a lot of interesting surprises on it, whites are particularly good. Definitely try the five course option, very much worth it. Their soups and darker meats are particularly good. Their gnocci-based "mac and cheese" was phenomenal and was appropriately served in a small, extremely hot cast iron pan."
