"We enjoyed the 5 course sampler with wine pairings. The chef and somelier did an outstanding job. The wines were very ecclectic from all over the world. They even offered a Cab blush which was outstanding. I'd highly recommend this for a special evening"

"The food here was very nice, but what it made it stand out was the service. Servers were obviously well trained, everything was in sync, and everyone very knowledgeable. The sommelier was also acting as host (or vice versa) and was very excited to tell us about the wine list. We shared several small plates and a tagine and we enjoyed everything. The fried cauliflower and the lamb tagine stood out, and the salad was very fresh and flavorful. I was disappointed the deserts weren't more interesting. I'm not a dessert fan, but was hoping for something different. All the desserts on the menu were standards. Overall, an excellent experience."

"Maybe I've been spoiled. When I go to a decent restaurant and something goes wrong, the house usually compensates in some way - a free drink, or app, or something.
We had a reservation for 7:15, weren't seated until 7:35 or so. They were nice enough about it. When the waitress said she was going to send someone over to take our drink orders while we were waiting, we both assumed she meant they were giving us a free drink for having to wait.
Forward to the food. It was ok. Nothing blew us away. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty - but not worth the money - we weren't left with a craving to come back to try the rest of the menu (which we have been at plenty of other places).
And they charged us for the drinks we had while waiting. Yuck."

"When I first looked at the menu it looked really "out there" for me, and I thought I wouldn't like anything. I was with 3 other people, and they did the ordering for the table, and I can honestly say everything was just DELICIOUS! Surprising, different flavors, presented in a gorgeous way. Service was impeccable -- truly a fun evening!!"

"We love to try different items. The drinks were amazing. We tried the lamb meatballs and Lamb brains both had great taste. Go outside your food box and different items. You will enjoy it.

"This was my second visit to Saffron. The location is good, on the west edge of downtown with easy access from and to the highways from the west side of town. Parking on the street is usually reasonably easy to find, but check schedules at Target Center and Target Field before going. The bar is good and the food, with some influence from northern Africa, is a nice change from the typical twin cities fare."

"This is simply one of our favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. If it is possible it even seems that the food is better than ever. Servers are always friendly and attentive. Reasonably priced wine list with some real gems. Try the Chilean wine Carmenere from Rapel--a real steal and very nice! Have never taken guests to this restaurant where they didn't rave about the experience!"

"I have been to Saffron twice now, and have left glowing both times. The food is faithful to the chef's Palestinian roots, and the offerings are not the standard fare you find in most middle eastern restaurants in the U.S. I have never had anything there that was less than eye-opening, perfectly executed and (it seems) made with love. The service has always been top-notch and the servers seem genuinely happy to be there. I can hardly wait to return"

"This was my second visit to Saffron. I live out of town and visited while in Minneapolis for a business meeting a year ago and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to return when we were in town again. "Monday night was my first time at Saffron. I always wanted to go there and finally got the opportunity to go there with company (my parents). Due to the snow storm, the restaurant was not packed at all when my folks and I arrived. The staff was very helpful and pleasant to deal with, especially our server who helped us with the menu. My parents and I started out with a stout and a couple of glasses of wine along with an order of hummus and giant beans. And of all each had a tangine of some sort. Everything was delicious. I definitely want to return to try the octopus and lambs brain."

"I was attending a conference in Minneapolis and Saffron was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Minneapolis area. I went with a group of clients (a coupla foodies, several vegetarians and one very picky eater) and it was one of the best dinners all had ever had. Food was all delicious, varied and interesting, wine was wonderful and the service lovely. We ended up staying for about 3 hours since we were having such a good time! I raved about it so much the next day that the folks we were going out with the next day insisted we go back! So, we went a second night (and this group was all very serious foodies from DC) and same exceptional results. Thank you for a delightful experience, twice!"

"Craving broiled octopus, a Tagine or Turkish Ris De Veau and you are stuck in Minneapolis? All is not lost, tucked just moments from the city center is Saffron. From the moment you walk inside you know you are in for a treat. The comforting smells of ancient spices fill the air and you are just moments from an encyclopedia of Spanish, Turkish, Palestinian and North African delicacies you seldom find in an American bistro. Nothing about this restaurant is tempered by American tastes, it's superbly authentic and true to form. My enthusiastic and well-versed host Christopher not only knew his menu and was thoroughly knowledgeable of all the cuisine's in the region. A perfectly superb dinner in a delightfully peaceful surrounding!"

"Our waiter, Evan was very knowledgable about the menu. Great service and food. The Turk hummus was delicious. My husband's sea bass was cooked to perfection, one of the best he has had. The eggplant lovash with the chicken dish had wonderful flavor. Could've made a meal with just that. Don't miss the salted caramel dessert, so creamy and flavorful. Definitely would recommend!!!"

"Absolutely stellar food though, portion size for appetizers was a bit scant. We had the figs and foie and octopus to start. Wish that there had been a few more figs but the flavors and presentation were spot on. The octopus is an absolute must have; perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned with a firm yet sumptuous texture. My date had the seafood tangine and could not stop raving about the amount of flavor. I went with the braised veal breast and practically licked the plate clean. Even the fingerling potatoes with carmelizex paprika butter were uniquely delicious. Paired everything with a bottle of the Syrocco- good acid, approachable nose, plays well with their spicier fare.

"This is our favorite restaurant for many reasons. The ambience is wonderful, the service impeccable, and, above all, the cuisine is unique and delicious! Every dish is carefully balanced and wonderful, to the extent that we will eat anything on the menu, even foods we would not ordinarily like to eat. The chef, Wadi Saleh, is well reknowned, and probably the most creative in the country.
The only drawback is the parking! But who's perfect? There is an expensive lot next door, but street parking is only allowed for 2 hours.
We hope that anyone in the Twin Cities will try this cuisine. They will hunger for more, and more!"

"T'was my first time at Saffron. My only disappointments were (1) that, as I am unaccustomed to being pampered, I found the service too attentive, (2) the burrito-looking item on my delicious chicken supper did nothing for me. That was a notable error."

"Good food; great service, very loud; hard to hold a conversation. We arrived early and were seated immediately. Had several choices that my wife and son enjoyed from their homeland of Turkey. The coriander potatos that I had were very very good. Prices are not cheap but for special occasions/celebrations it was a nice place to dine."

"Perhaps we were at Saffron on an off night? The octopus that wait staff thought was great, was a dissappointment, which kind of affected our overall impression. Every thing else (service, atmosphere, wine list) was quite good. I especially enjoyed our wine, which was recommended by the staff. Wait people were very pleasant, gracious, helpful and fun. I'd recommend a complimentary plate of olives or something to add to the feeling of graciousness and Give people a small nosh. Parking was $15, which seemed excessive."

"Amazing hummus. The winter vegetable gnocchi was fabulous. And trifle is delectable. The drinks are strong and they make an authentic dark and stormy. The only downside was having to pay $15 for parking."

"Went to Saffron during Restaurant Week. I went to three restaurants for Restaurant Week and Saffron was, by far, the best! The atmosphere is soothing, the food was delicious, the service was attentive, without being overbearing, and friendly! We had such a great time that my friends, who live in the neighborhood, will start going there instead of 112 Eatery as their new neighborhood place."

"We went for Restaurant week and the menu & our selections were outstanding! We loved both the seafood & lamb entrees and the desserts were terrific - and very unique. The service was exceptional, we ordered wine flights along with the meal and they were brought out right on schedule, even though different staff brought food and wine. My only slight issue was that we truly felt "rushed", which was unneccessary as we made 9:30 reservations to avoid exactly that. The food was brouight so quickly we were not able to really relax and enjoy the food, which is what we wanted at the end of a long work week. This was not our normal experience, however, so I chalk it up to a hectic week for everyone."

"I had been there just once before and had a wonderful dinner. I was disappointed this week. The lamb tagine was lacking in substance and flavor. The lamb was great, but the dish needed something more than a ton of chick peas. But it was a nice evening. The service was excellent. The music was too loud for me, but I know many like it that level."

"We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Saffron. The cocktails we enjoyed at the bar were both delicious - we especially recommend the Vieux Carre. Our meal was delicious. The gnocchi is always a highlight and something we almost always order, but the lamb tagine was also wonderful. Service is always very good as well."

"Our experience was stellar in every aspect of the dining experience. We were seated immediately. Wait staff was informative and attentive. Our food courses were well timed- we ordered the optional appetizer spreads with a glass of wine before the "regular" restaurant week courses started. We had ample time to visit and eat before the next course came. We also opted for the optional wine pairings with our courses. They were perfect compliments to each course. The food was beautifully/artfully presented, and the taste and preparations of each course were perfectly cooked. We each ordered different appetizers, entrees and desserts. We both would definitely come back and dine at Saffron again- as well as encourage others to dine there."

"Amazing food and wonderful waitstaff. My waiter explained each dish to me, made recommendations on some of the house specials, and made my Restaurant Week experience unforgettable!
I chose the gnocchi as an entree, and requested available spices to add to the dish for my personal taste. I look forward to adding this Warehouse District gem to my list of rotating restaurants to visit!"
