Named for the subtle tides of Hawaii, Ushio-Tei is a quiet oasis in an authentic setting adjoining a peaceful Japanese garden. Ushio-Tei serves traditional Japanese fare including sushi and sashimi.
"We were on our honeymoon and stayed at a townhouse at Ko Olina. Our waitress was the nicest, sweetest person. Her name was Jocelyn (I apologize if I spelled that wrong). We love the food and thank you so much again for assisting with my gluten issues!!! Next trip there, we will be back!
Sarah"

"Our group of nine enjoyed their buffet offering. The hostess was very nice and seated us at the outside patio overlooking the Ihilani JW Marriot pool at the back of the hotel. The food was very good from the salad including Ahi Poke, teriyaki steak & chicken, and shrimp tempura. They also had Maki-Sushi which were delicious and most notably the Hawaii Rainbow Roll and Surfing Unagi Roll. My only criticism was the saltiness of the miso soup and the shrimp tempura which was my main reason of eating there. The desert was commendable with a rich chocolate cake and outstanding mixed fruit jello. Overall, although the amount of selection were fair, it was a great choice of buffet than the other more expensive buffet offered in the hotel."

"We opted to do the buffet, which was wonderfully prepared and presented. All of the food was fresh and delicious. The Miso soup was a great way to start my meal. The Ahi salad, the abundant selection of sushi, the teriyaki chicken, scampi, and tempura were all terrific. We arrive around 5:40 and were seated earlier than our 6:00 reservation. The dinner crowd started to arrive just around 6:00, so I was glad we got in early. The staff was very friendly, and curteous. It took a little while to get our dinner check, but other than that, a dining experience."

"The only reason to go here is because you don't want to leave Ko Olina. The food is functional and maybe even a little better than you would expect from a hotel Japanese restaurant but nothing you would go to if you weren't staying in the area."

"We did not have the buffet ratherwe chose to order a la carte sushi and appys. Although our server was very kind and attentive, the sushi was supermarket quality sushi and for the price, pretty disappointing"

"Ushio-Tei is Amazing! The food is so fresh and delicious. We dined there 3 nights in a row while on vacation. We ordered off the menu and tried the buffet and it was all super! The food is creative (the Hamachi Carpaccio is unbelievable - you must try it) and the signature cocktails are really tasty too. A family of four can eat fresh sushi/Japanese food for under $100 - that is hard to beat! If you are looking for fresh Japanese food with outstanding service, this is the place to go!"

"It was "ma ma" or "so so" as we would call it. The selection was rather limited. For the price, it has to have awesome food or awesome abiance - it had neither."

"We so wanted to love this place! We live in Ko Olina year round and love Japanese food and picked this as a special place to go for our wedding anniversary. We have both lived in Japan so are admittedly quite particular about our Japanese food but we hoped since the buffet is $43 a person that the food would be great. Some things I think would really make a difference are to update the decore & get rid of the Chinese fans, serve sticky rice at the buffet(!)less rice on the sushi rolls & come up with a better, amazing dessert selection because the current offerings were nothing special & you expect more. There were no Japanese people in the place even though there are tons of Japanese tourists here so I think that's a sign to change things up!"

"We went for the weekend dinner buffet, and we had a great time. The quantity and quality of the food is great as was the service. They were accommodating to our large party as well as our kids. This buffet is a great value with a very diverse menu able to meet the needs of everyone in our family."

"I was quite suprised with my experience at Ushio Tei. From the minute we walked in our experience was well handled making this our first exception Valentine's Day in Hawaii. Our server gave us the right amount of privacy without neglecting us. The quality of food was far beyond our expecations and enticed us to keep on eating in order to try everything. This place is must try if you're dining at the JW Marriott Ihilani."

"We elect to go for their buffet so we can have a varied choice of sushi, salad, ahi poke, entrees, plus desserts. There is also miso soup. Buffet selections replenished frequently, which keeps it pretty fresh. Our server cleared our empty plates efficiently. We like to dine early evening before it gets too crowded, although noise volume is not apparent due to tranquil Japanese setting. There is a small bar that we might try in the future for change of pace from the dining setting, plus some outside dining tables, too, but we elect inside dining when eating from the buffet for convenience."
