Nestled among the antique shops, boutiques and cafes along Beacon Hill's famous Charles Street, Toscano restaurant remains a staple of Boston's oldest neighborhood.
"Hadn't been to Toscano in 10 years. Went for my birthday this last week and couldn't have been more pleased. From the understanding Mai`tre D who understood the traffic that delayed us, to the lovely and interesting waitress, we were already sold. BUT the food- excellent! We also had a single glass of wine each which was a perfect compliment to our meal. Will totally return (and not 10 years from now!)"

"I took my wife and three daughters to Toscano for lunch on Father's Day. Initially I was disappointed that the lunch menu was not available as I was told it would be but any concerns went away once I saw how flexible the wait staff was around customizing meals for the kids. They do not have a kids menu so it can get pricey but they allowed the kids to split adult meals and it all worked out. The food was fantastic as usual- we'll definitely be going back"

"From appetizers to dessert, an overall enjoyable meal. Tasty food... We shared artichoke and grilled veggie appetizers, and then had various pasta dishes, and a soft shell crab special, all quite splendid, followed by a nice fruit dessert. The wine by the glass has a nice selection, and looks pricy, until you realize that it is served as a "quartino", a quarter liter carafe. Strongly recommended."

"Great meal but the service was very slow and rather inattentive. It took about 15 minutes before we were approached for our drink order and another 10 for our meal order. Given it was a business lunch we found this to be rather frustrating. Never had this issue at dinner."

"Toscano's is great, and definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in Boston, including the North End. Much more open, airy, and group-friendly (and a little less cozy and romantic) than Grotto, the other fantastic Italian restaurant on Beacon Hill. It was quite busy on a random Tuesday night, which speaks to its quality. Try it!"

"A very enjoyable Italian restaurant. Menu combines an extnesive list of traditional Italian dishes with a selection of fine grilled meats. So a carnivore like myself can co-exist with my pasta loving friends. Our server was outstanding; more talkative than I would normally enjoy but so helpful, so knowledgeable about all things menu, always there when we needed her, never when we didn't."

"Although the tricolore salad was a bit of a disappointment, the braised calamari appetizer made up for it. The real stars of our meal, however, were the main courses: the Fegatini were succulent (wonderful sauce!), and the Rigatoni Norcina were divine. Will definitely return and recommend to others."

"Had lunch with family before Red Sox Game. Split Mushroom pizza and beet salad for an appertizer. Pizza was execellent and salad was a nice mix. My daughter and I had the signature Rigatoni Toscano. This dish is excellent. other dishes that were eaten at the table were the swordfish and eggplant. everyone enjoyed their meals. Tpped off with a nice bottle wine. This resturant never disappoints."

"We were a party of four. The service was horrible. The waiter didn't seem to want to be there. May be he was having a bad day.... The only time he asked how we were doing was when the check came. The food was good not great."

"I have been here a few times, and each time the service has been progressively worse. My last visit was the worst. I had better service at a drive-thru after midnight. They changed servers after a while and things were looking up, but after sitting for 20 minutes before someone even bothered to come by and start service, I was already not having it. The maitre d was also terrible. When I asked him about the menu, he responded by saying that he would bring me water.
The food remains great, but the front of the house needs some serious help."

"Toscano has delicious food and wonderful service! There are many specials to choose from each night, but the regular menu has some terrific items, too! The pizzas are wonderful as are the salads! We had the mushroom pizza and a Caesar salad, and we really enjoyed them! My husband had the duck, and my friend's husband ordered the Osso Bucco. Both were fabulous! I wasn't that pleased with my T-bone steak as it was just ordinary. The cappuccinos are fantastic! For dessert we had a selection of homemade ice cream and sorbet, and we were very happy with our choice!"

"Toscano came highly recommended. Loved the service and the atmosphere. However the food was just average. The Caesar salad was excellent. But the risotta, the eggplant, and the other dishes we ordered were just not spectacular. Great wine list. The food was all very edible but lacked distinction. I'd recommended Toscano for the atmosphere and suggest wine and apps- forget dinner. Sadly, it was forgettable."

"This was one of the worst meals we have had in a long time. The "home-made" sausage was tasteless (although the beans were good), the shrimp was overcooked and bland, and the veal required a saw to cut through. The first two wines I selected were not available in the year stated on the wine list.
And the service was slow!
This was a great disappointment. I wonder if Harvard Sq is any better."

"Dined with another couple 9:00 PM on a Saturday. I had the veal scallopini delightful sauce delicious veal served with roasted potato. The wine was a Montepulciano which was extraordinary and well priced at $ 50. Service was attentive without being overly so. Price good at about $ 50 person. We will go again."

"When we visited Boston again we made sure we returned to this attractive and wonderful restaurant! It was our daughter's birthday and we were happy to celebrate it here! They have valet parking so that is really handy in a bustling busy part of Boston. The staff and the food are fantastic! The menu is fantastic and we love their grilled steaks! Be sure and come here when you are in Boston!!"

"The grilled calimari was great; the tricolor salad was delicious; she had grilled lobster which was tender and the risotto in the body was nice; I had swordfish which was cooked to perfection--juicy and sweet. Tiramisu we have had better. The two desserts we had were served in martini glasses which made them stand to high on the table to eat easily."

"I probably won't do restaurant week in the future since even well-regarded places serve mediocre menus. Didn't like the entrees and other fare unremarkeable. I have some favorites that offer good menus during this time and will stick to those."

""Decent" food needs to be coupled with "good" service. Food is nothing to rave about but service, especially the one by the hostess, is sub par. Went into the Charles Street one today at 4:30 pm. Do NOT like sitting on the left hand side of the restaurant, it is continuously bombarded with the inflow traffic so one does not feel isolated and private enough. Respectfully asked for a table in the main section (not a single one was occupied by the way) but were not granted with lame excuse of incoming reservations (we were out of the restaurant at 5:27 pm and no more than two tables were occupied). My mistake was not walking away right there and then. We will never choose them again, plain and simple."
