"Compared with its predecessor, (Watermark), the Boathouse offers massive improvement in customer service and notable improvement in food quality, but the latter is still inconsistent. Those at our table who ordered salmon ended up with a filet cooked thoroughly to the point of dryness. Waiter offered to take it back and cook afresh, which was nice, but that would have messed up our dining schedule. When my fellow diner pointed out the very dry salmon filet to the waiter, he relayed to the kitchen staff that the salmon was "a little more well-done than the customer's preference", which indicated to me that cooked-till-dry salmon is what the Boathouse considers the "normal" way to cook salmon. Yikes. Great dessert, though."

"A beautiful brunch selection and variety. My hot food was a little cold as I think the turnover was not as fast as could have been. Was really impressed with cold seafood table. Staff very friendly and warm. Setting is out of this world - what a treat for this Mother!"

"We often eat at The Boathouse Horseshoe Bay always enjoying food, view and value. Due to Mother Day we were unable to reserve at Horseshoe Bay so tried Kits Beach instead. Prices are up this year so you expect quality. The server was good, the view is very nice and building quite new. However I was disappointed this time for several reasons. The Cesar Salad seemed small and not as good as at Horseshoe Bay. The steak was good but the key lime shrimp accompanying were very spicy and the sauce too heavy. The restaurant was very loud, noisy and movement through it is cramped. The layout is somewhat small and a bit odd, not as formal as in Horseshoe Bay. Overall I will not dine there again and prefer the other locations I have dined at."

"I went to the boathouse at kits with my mother on mothers day. Upon arriving at out reservation time, we were greeted by friendly staff and promptly brought to our table which was right by the window. The service was very quick and the food was great so I would certainly like to return for other special occasions in the future!"

"We liked it because it is right on Kits Beach but really found this boathouse to have a fairly casual ambience and found it to be very noisy. We like the boathouse in Port Moody better- nice upscale ambience rather than casual affair.
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or special milestone. It is good for a group of people but not for a romatic dinner for two.

"our waitress was great! she was attentive, noticed when my husband's coffee was low, brought my friend extra bread for her seafood hotpot. The +$10 for the three course dinner was great - except I'm not a fan of cream brulee (Asians tend to be lactose intolerant, so another dessert option would have been appreciated)."

"You can't beat the view. The prawn pasta was ok. It was bland, and the sauce was watery. The seafood hotpot was also ordinary, with 2 mussels unopened and some with shlls only. This should have been picked up before it leftvthe kitchen, if not for safety reasons. Once told, they gave us a free dessert."

"I booked this restaurant because of the view, however, for dinner, since the restaurant faces West, for the most part the entire restaurant is exposed to the sun and heat. "Reserved a spot for the Boathouse late on Thursday for Saturday night at 7:30 and got a table. Had a friend in from out of town and the place was hopping as it was the first warm beach day of the year. The hostess, the waiter and the kitchen really pulled it off. We started with crab cakes and sweet chili chicken bites and both were as good as one would expect. I had the blackened halibut (excellent - perfectly cooked), my girlfriend the seafood hot pot (great variety and flavour) and my friend had the prime rib - by all accounts a winner. He really enjoyed the view (what's not to like?) and the service was very good (kudos to Ryan). Only complaint - It was a little warm from the sun blasting through the windows (it's a tough life)."

"View of the mountains and water was fantastic from the Boathouse. Food was ok. Filet mignon was good. The Halibut was overcooked and dry despite me checking with the server that the fish would be juicy at the time of ordering. As I had out of town guests with me, I did not want to disrupt our meal and conversation by notifying the server of this issue so just consumed it. In my opinion, if a restaurant is charging this price point for their food, they should be professional enough to cook it right. Overall, would return for drinks and their view, not their seafood entrees."

"First time at this Boathouse. Great location. Continued good food and service. Great for that neighbourhood. Other people though have to drive to it. I suspect many people in the neighbourhood walked to the Boathouse on English Bay. We'll go back there for sure and recommend it as a group dinner location!"

"The location is of course fabulous. Easter Sunday and the place was packed, so very lively atmosphere. Background music as usual was rather too loud for older ears, especially with so many people talking, so we had to almost shout across the table to have a conversation.
Service was very good, with prompt attention but not intrusive. The clam chowder was disappointing, a thin cream broth with a couple of pieces of fish, tasteless and bland. We advised the waiter who took it away, and we were not charged for the soup. The fish tacos which I've had several times before, were as usual delicious,and the thai crab cakes were nicely textured though a little bland, as were the accompanying salsa, mayo. Wine by the glass very expensive."

"We always enjoy the Boathouse at Kits. It's gorgeous. We did have reservations and they gave us special preference so we could sit at the window. We were invited to sit at the bar and have a drink while they got our table ready, about 10-15 minutes. Too bad there was no bartender. On break???? It was very busy, and the bar was full. No one had a drink or food.....just waiting. When he did finally come back, our table was ready. Oh well. We got to sit down.
The food was fabulous. Love those crab cakes. Our sever was awesome. Maybe he should have been bartending.

"There is a great variety to satisfy all tastes...especially fish seafood in a variety of combos, and with steak options too! They are always willing to please and switch out for your favourite choices. The sunset was stunning last night too!"

"Our reservation was for 5:30pm but arrived 1 hour early. We were escorted to a window seat table for party of five. The view as gorgeous. Our waiter, Colin, took time to explain items on the menu. To start we had a complimentary sourdough bread. Calamari was excellent. Seafood Flat bread was also nice. Our selections of main course were Prime Rib, Fish n Chips, Lobster Ravioli, Seafood Pasta, and Steelhead Fish. Fish n chips was a bit on the too-well-done side but everything else was very good. We would be back again for another special occasion."

"Having eaten at the Boathouse on Beach Ave, which is a bit casaul, I wanted to try this location, and it was much nicer for an evening meal. The ambiance was fabulous, and the food overall was great. We had the ultimate seafood feast. The only critique I have was that the salmon portion was overcooked. Normally I would have sent it back, but the rest was awesome, and it wasn't only a small part of a big meal of stuff lobster, prawns, mussels etc. We would definietely go back, as we felt it was also great value."

"The location is terrific with an amazing view but the food was not overly special relative to some independent restaurants that have similar prices for similar items. I had the cedar planked salmon, which was good, though the sides were a bit lacklustre.
The atmosphere was okay, with the great beach and ocean view tempered by thumping high bpm music that seemed rather inappropriate. Music of this type does not fit well with the setting and foodie pretensions."

"We went because of the Atlantic Lobster special. We were not disappointed with the lobster but my husband was not happy with the chowder. He told the waitress (Chelsea) that it was so watery, it was tasteless. She asked if she could replace it with the lobster bisque. She did and it was great. She provided impecable service. We will definitely return."

"We arrived at the restaurant right on time for our 1 pm reservations, to be told there's be a ten minute wait although there were plenty of empty tables. We were served by the manager rather than a server. The food took over an hour to come. In fairness, they brought out small plates of carrots and celery for my two kids (5 and 11) The food, when it arrived, was very good although we were very, very hungry. The bill took too long to present and far too long to pay."
