"With a lively, flexible menu divided into "light" and "substantial", Solbar has something for everyone including a tasty lounge menu all day. As a resort restaurant, they serve all meals, including a delightful breakfast until 11:30 a.m.; I don't know how they do it consistently, it's a marvel and I recommend it for any time of the day or night!"

"On a beautiful day that's not too hot (i.e. Mother's Day, 2013) this place cannot be beat. Its spectacular beauty is matched only by the oustanding food. I love the seared ahi burger on a special roll (like the roll in a baked Chinese pork bow) which comes with an edamame and tofu salad that is way more delicious than you can imagine, despite being extremely healthy. There's a big wine list with many interesting choices. My brother had the fish tacos and our Mom had the poached eggs on a homemade biscuit with thin slices of black forest ham and sauteed kale, topped with hollandaise sauce. All meals were enthusiastically eaten, followed by a sharing a trifecta of refreshing homemade sorbets:strawberry, pina colada and mandarin orange."

"Great location. The Bocce Court, fire, & water features is a great touch. The windows & the openess of the restaurant decompresses you from the drive up. The waiter was were very attentive to our needs. The wine list had a good variety of wines to choose from, glass & bottle. We started with the oysters. They were clean & creamy, the mignonette was also very nice. We had the sardines as our second course. They were a little dry, but the currants & lentils with them was a nice touch & went well together. For our mains, I had the the lamb shoulder with fava beans & trumpets. It was very good. It was tender & just rich enough. My friend had the tuna which was also very good. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I can't wait to come back."

"Great outdoor patio for drinks or dinner. Very good original food, but did not meet expectations. Save a few bucks and visit Market, Cindy's Backstreet or Farmstead and you will do just as good if not better with the food."

"The only tough part is figuring out what to order because everything looks so inventive, interesting, and delicious. When the food arrives, all hopes for excellence are exceeded. The waitstaff is informed, professional, and enthusiastic.

"Outstanding food and service! Although the menu was small, every option was available. The food was excellent; everyone in our party (10) raved about his or her selection. Service was well thought out and executed. Each course arrived for all of us at the same time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone with is looking for an exceptional meal and service."

"Eaten here many times. Its a must visit whether staying at the property or not. We ate lunch and dinner here this stay and can honestly say everything we ordered was amazing. I highly recommend the fish tacos on the lunch menu. For dinner, the agnolotti is unbelievable as is the salmon and the halibut. For dessert, ask for the donuts. Not on the menu but will make them for you. Also the cheesecake is unbelievable."

"Food was great. The service was no where near Michelin star quality. I brought 2 bottles of wine for table of 8. Had to ask twice for both to be opened as we wanted these with first course before ordering more wine for entree. Server interjected into our conversation twice during our meal with his own personal thoughts. When I queried about a bottle of wine on their wine list, he couldn't provide any input and did not find anyone else to assist. At the end of the meal after declining desert but still enjoying our wine, water service stopped and the server never approached again to see if we needed anything. To sum up, the meal was excellent but I won't be back due to the exceptionally poor service."

"When we got there, the atmosphere was wonderfully romantic, with an open fire for the outside tables, though we chose to dine inside, since the weather was still a bit cool. The wait staff was very well dressed and professional but courteous.
The menu is dynamic, and as it turns out, the chef is from South Carolina and so on Tuesdays, he makes some "Home Cooking" in the form of a 3 course Fried Chicken dinner. (This does not sound particularly fancy, but just put the chicken down and have a sip of wine, and you are back to fine dining). My wife ordered the flat iron steaks and we went half-sies (something we often do to increase our variety). The meal was amazing. (Best Fried Chicken I have ever had too)."

"So happy that I picked SolBar after reading about special places to eat in Calistoga. It made my husband's birthday even more special. We sat outside, by the outdoor fire, and the ambience couldn't have been better. The wait staff was helpful without being overly intrusive. Every recommendation made was fantastic. And I loved the pacing - we absolutely did not feel rushed through any part of our meal. We had a reservation for our Thursday night dinner, and would have returned during our stay in Calistoga, but didn't have reservations for the next evening. But it was that good - we would have gone twice in one stay."

"This was my second time at Solbar, my friend and I were able to dine on the patio, which added to the pleasure of dining there. I had the fried chicken with sweet potato pancakes! The chicken was perfectly crispy and the meat moist and juicy. The sweet potato pancakes were a perfect accompaniment. My friend had the fish tacos and savored every bite.

"The Michelin star is well deserved, but the restaurant wears it lightly. Great vegetarian and vegan options, done with as much imagination and care as those selections designed for omnivores. Everything we tried over the course of 5 meals was memorable. Well worth every dollar spent. Food prepared with this level of care and imagination is rare, especially when the place it's served is so comfortable and casual."

"I love Solbar. I've been here three times with my wife. We've eaten brunch, lunch and dinner.
Solbar is part of Solage, a spa in Calistoga. There is incredible outdoor and indoor dining. The outdoor dining, on a sunny day, is without compare. The indoor dining is equally incredible. The inside has large comfortable tables with high ceiling and several incredibly beautiful large oil paintings by a local artist named Wade Hoefer.
The food is incredibly innovative (look up the menu), fresh, tasty (very organic) and well prepared. The presentation is incredible."

"Solbar is an outstanding restaurant located at the Solage Resort. The food is refreshing and inventive, but they still have your tried and true favorites such as delicious fish tacos. If you are fortunate enough to dine during warmer weather, the outdoor seating area is not to be missed as the lighting ads an incredible ambiance. Sometimes the service is outstanding, and sometimes it can be improved somewhat."

"Wow. Solage has taken in to a new level. We live nearby and hadn't recently experienced Monday "Locals' Night" -- the asian inspired menu was fanastic, as were the discounted wine. The service was excellent and it is always a pleasure to sit on the patio on a warm (even in March) evening. Great experience all the way around."

"We decided to go to Solage for Sunday breakfast on our way out of Calistoga. The food was AH-MA-ZING. Beyond incredible. The blueberry syrup and pine nuts are the perfect complement to the lemon pancakes. My husband had the Mt.Washington eggs benedict and they were perfect. The biscuits and gravy were wonderful too and we loved the chunky sausage.
The only reason this place isn't getting 5 stars is the service. We had made reservations and the host sat us very quickly. Then we sat and we sat for more than 10 mins before someone came by to even give us water. Then another 5 mins went by before our server came. Note that it was not busy at that time. Once we were finally able to order things were fine but the slow start was disappointing."

"I have eaten at Solbar several times. The last time I had dinner there, I think there was a different chef, the food was outstanding. This time, while good and very well presented the food was no longer outstanding and I did not find the menu choices very interesting. We had to ask for water and bread several times. Also I found the room noisy and would have eaten outside if it was not still the middle of March. While I may go back it will not be soon. I also called the restaurant to see if we could get a slightly earlier reservation and was told no. But when we arrived a bit early there was absolutely no problem setting us immediately."

"An outstanding evening at Solbar. The entrees--tuna, pork shoulder and steak--were all great as were the first courses (crispy squid for two of us and (an unexpected surprise) oysters on ice. This is our fourth or fifth time at Solbar and it is now a "must do" for our trips to Calistoga because it never disappoints."
