Within its sunny space BLD (breakfast, lunch, dinner) is both a popular neighborhood spot as well as a great destination restaurant. This latest venture of husband and wife team Neal and Amy Knoll Fraser with partner Richard Drapkin, is another successful collaboration of the talented team from Grace Restaurant just down the street. At BLD diners can remain comfortable all day long in a friendly, upscale café atmosphere. The enticing space and the service are approachable from the moment the doors open early in the morning until they finally close late at night. BLD has become the go-to spot for all day gourmet comfort food. House-made pastries, salads, sandwiches, and more feature seasonal ingredients. "This is our second time at BLD, we returned to celebrate Father's day here for my hubby and step dad. Among our favorites is the ricotta pancakes (yummy and plenty to share), the Spanish chorizo potatoes (cooked crispy and the chorizo is excellent) and the chicken sausage (flavorful and seasoned well). I wish I could drink their french pressed coffee all week. Service was fair to good, our waitress was not unfriendly but there were several gaps of time where we did not see her and had to flag down other wait staff to assist us.
We will definitely return!"

"Ten years ago this was a really good restaurants with lots of interesting small-plate like choices and really fit for foodies even at lunch. Now for lunch it is a regular sandwich and salad shop. Nothing special at all."

"1.15h for lunch. Only ordered a burger, which came burnt. Waited so long for my check I had to get up to ask host for check. Waited so long to have my order taken n be served that I was so hungry I ate charred burger. My waiter? Busy serving all the handsome men at BLD so much so I had enough time to read 1/2 my book bf he took my order.

"My wife and I go to BLD over and over because the food is consistently good and the service always pleases. Specials are often interesting and you can count on a worthwhile featured wine. Prices are fair and, with drinks and an appetizer, run in the $40's per person."

"We went to BLD for dinner last week and I have to say, many of the comments we read were about breakfast. Next time we go, I intend to have breakfast there too. The chicken with waffles was out of this world, and I don't even like the fried chicken! The flatiron steak was just ok. Flavor could have been better, potatoes were overcooked and rapini was bitter."

"I came for a dinner to celebrate my partner's birthday. I specifically requested upon making the reservation that a little bday dessert be brought out at the end of the meal without my having to ask for it, so as to be a surprise (pretty standard for any restaurant). Completely went over their heads - so there is zero communication between hostess and server.
Also, I asked if the duck prosciutto could be one of the meats in the chefs selection, and if not, no worries. Server said she'd see what she could do. As mentioned above, she simply rang up everything separately which resulted in not the $21 chef's selection price, but $9+$9+$8+$8. No cool."

"My friend and I had early breakfast here on a Monday morning and it was very quiet. We ordered pancakes, frittata and eggs benedict with chorizo. The food portions were big and the blueberry pancakes were light and fluffy. None of it was greasy or oily and looked very clean.
We were massively full afterwards but thoroughly enjoyed a real American style breakfast in LA."

"This was the second time I've been to this restaurant with my wife on a date night and I can't find a better place to go. The menu is amazing, the staff there is spot on and the environment is just right.
Our dinner was shared between the two of us(Beet Salad and Pork w/ Brussel Sprouts with a Banana Cream Pie - go to their menu, they explain these dishes much better than I can) and it was amazing from start to finish."

"I went to BLD for their Ham & Whiskey Dinner. My date had the Ham & Whiskey and I couldn't help but try their chicken and waffles. I'm so glad I did because it's a not-to-be-missed meal. It was off the hook. The waffle came with bacon and shallot infused homemade butter!! The chicken was extra crispy and sooooo juicy. And the donut dessert that came with the Ham & Whiskey dinner... well, let's just say my date and I ate it with our eyes closed because it was so incredible. Even better than the food, though, was our server. TJ was incredible and made our evening memorable. He works Wednesdays which is also BLD's donut dessert night. I'm going back for both! Thank you, TJ."

"I had been to BLD for lunch before, but never for dinner. I'd have to say that I recommend it more for lunch, mainly because they serve breakfast until 3PM! The restaurant was beautiful, but EMPTY so we didn't really need a reservation. Our waiter, TJ, was adorable, & wonderful, & helpful. The food was good, but not the best place to go if you're on a diet, which I was. I did find something on my diet, but it isn't what I would have liked to have ordered. Too many good fattening things on hat menu!"

"I would not use the word romantic to describe lunch at BLD, unless you are in love with the carpet-less noise of the croud inside, or the busy Beverly Blvd traffic outside. However, there was a croud inside because the food is fine & fun. Who knew the riotta blueberry pancakes would be such a hit for my vegetarian guest, while my Moroccan Lamb Burger, w/lemon cucumber yogurt & feta cheese made me shamelessly lick my fingers right in front of her. It was also great, in this day of mega-menus with hundreds of choices that take mure than your 90 minute lunchtime to read, to see a resturant with the confidence to serve a few things, but serve them quite well. Go for food, go for fun, and I guess that could very well lead to romance."

"I just always enjoy food by Neal Fraser. I love his style and how it shows in his food. It's good food without any pretense. BLD feels the same way - it's a good spot to join with friends for drinks and dinner. That's exactly what we did and BLD didn't disappoint. Two of us our vegan and the menu has a lot of good vegan options making it an easy place for foodies of all types to dine. We will definitely be back."

"BLD should revise their policy to NOT SEAT PARTIES UNTIL FULL PARTY HAS ARRIVED. If 3/4 of the party has arrived, I think they should be seated when a reservation has been made. BLD gets very busy for Brunch and I asked when our full party arrives and there are no tables left when we made reservations on Open Table, we were told reservations under parties of 5 are NOT guaranteed - THEN WHY MAKE RESERVATIONS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!"

"BLD has a really nice ambience at night. It's very popular for Brunch on the weekends. The food is pretty good. Love that they have Milkshake events and wednesday doughnut night. I wish they had more Gluten Free options so I can try more delightful dishes on the menu. but it is not a Gluten Friendly restaurant. Great neighborhood place to go for just drinks."

"Great service, great food, and truly romantic and cozy. It was our first time there. It will not be our last time there. And if you're a vegetarian, the vegetarian items are great, not just an afterthought. A word of caution, the pastry chef is in league with the devil -- UNBELIEVABLE! Each course was a dream, and the dessert was the capper! Not that the dessert was better than what we ordered (order the butter lettuce salad to start, it will knock you out!), but it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Our waitress was amicable but not intrusive. Since it was our first time there everyone took the time to make sure we knew every item that was available that night and why we would like it. Honestly, I can't wait to go back with my wife."

"I have been to this restaurant several times over several years. The food is high quality and inventive with a leaning toward the health conscious. The portions are on the smaller side but big enough. There is something for everyone on the menu from the adventurous to the conservative. I experienced attentive service and and found the menu reasonably priced."

"While the food was quite good, the waitress was distracted, didn't hear a thing we ordered and got most of the sides and salads wrong and was slow to make it right. To add insult to injury, the bill was incorrect and it took a very very long time to make it right - in the end it still didn't look right but we ran out of time because we were on our way to a play."

"I LOVE the food at BLD, as usual. I have to say I was disappointed in the service though. Our waiter was very dismissive generally. It compounded matters when our food was very very late. My cousin actually asked me not to inquire when I wanted to do so, because he was worried the waiter would retaliate. I thought that was a ridiculous fear, but it served to underscore our shared concern about how the server perceived us. I'd recommend BLD based on the food, regardless of the service, but I've had other servers there who made the experience a good one in all categories."

"BLD has a great ambiance and is located near the famous Melrose Ave, so it'll always get customers. However, I'd heard a lot about the place and came back a little disappointed. The food didn't impress. The omelette was too oily, the Huevos rancheros too bland and everything lacked salt. The buttermilk biscuit was delicious, however."

"Had a nice experience at BLD, highlight was them holding our reserved table for 15 mins past our reservation time to accommodate members of the party that were stuck in traffic. I believe they only take reservations for parties of 5 or more, which is GREAT for groups, but the wait can get pretty lengthy for smaller parties. Brunch menu had nice mix of sweet and savory, everyone at my table seemed to enjoy their meals. I had the breakfast hash and while it tasted good, there was a huge puddle of GREASE in the bottom of the dish. I could have ordered better."
