"My first experience a few years ago was great and that's why I decided to take my Love for Father's Day. He and the childre all enjoyed themselves and he said that he would return but he would have to be real hungry...meaning the portions were great in size which is a wonderful aspect and the price is not too expensive either. "This was our first not so good dining experience with Lou & Mickey's!
We reserved a quiet table for our anniversary at a specific time - we were called with a time change after the confirmation was received and we had to literally yell at each other to hear ourselves. The waiter was changed and the next one did his best but was over busy. The $49 Rib Eye was not medium and chewy. Bread great, baked potato good and Filet great."

"Had high expectations for this restaurant, but they were not met. Food was "okay" but nothing special. Steak was supposed to be medium rare, but was nearly purple. They took care of it promptly. Service was fine. The biggest disappointment was that we sat outside to enjoy the ambiance of being right in the Gaslight District. Unfortunately, all we experienced was the chiming of the railroad crossing almost constantly. Don't sit outside if you want a quiet and pleasant experience. You had better like strong garlic if you order the bone-in rib eye that they tout. Overall, decent service, poor ambiance outside and average food for the price."

"This place never disappoints. The food was perfect, My wife and I had a steak, which was cooked to perfection. We purchased our own wine as the corkage fee is only ten dollars. We frequent this place at least once a month and it gets better each time."

"This was our first time to Lou & Mickey's on our 29th wedding anniversary. They knew we were there for our anniversary and seated us at a very nice quite booth. The waitress was very accommodating and was there when we needed and not when we didn't. I felt the food came out just as we liked not to long and not to soon. My wife really enjoyed her halibut and my bone in rib eye was delicious. Just a side note we normally visit Ruth's Chris for our special occasions but our last trip was way under par compared to this place.

The buffett was delicious, I personally loved the seared Yellow Fin, but the prime rib was also just as great.
The Bloody Mary bar was a nice touch as I love Bloody Marys at brunch.
All-in-all my wife had a great mothers day brunch at Lou and Mickeys which help set the mood for the rest of her day, we highly recommend Lou and Mickeys for any occasion, we will definitely be back."

"Let me start of by saying that I am not a lover of steak, but my clients are, so I went along. The staff said the in bone prime rib eye would be great for me. I tried it and I absolutely loved it! It's pretty big (20 oz.), but with the bone, you can finish it. If you like a full flavored steak and do not like to chew for a long period of time. Get the in bone prime rib eye. You would not be disappointed. Cheers!

"My only grumble about L&M's is the service was not great for such an expensive restaurant. My friend who is a chef himself asked a few questions about the menu and she could not answer them (example, 'what type of seaweed is served with the seared tuna starter?'). Then, when the meals were brought to the table, the guy got all the placements wrong. I believe when you're paying this kind of money, they should get it right without you having to tell them where the meals go. To make matters worse, he did exactly the same with the next course. Our waitress should have told the buss staff where to place the meals.
I will not be back here on my next visit to San Diego. There are many other fine dining options in the city which I need to try."

"This was our first visit to Lou & Mickey's. Definitely a five star restaurant and a five star experience, everything was great. The service was outstanding, our waiter, his name was Micheal was very good and knowledgeable about the menu and had obviously done much homework to know what to recommend. The indoor atmosphere was very elegant, my wife and I enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Outside dining is available too, it is heated for the cool evenings, but seemed a little noisy located on busy 5th Avenue. Indoor is better (my opinion).
Lou & Mickeys reminds me of some of the classy restaurants we have visited in New Orleans, that is my favorite city for fine dining. But this restaurant is in that league. We will definitely be back."

"We had a wonderful meal and experience at Lou & Mickeys. We ate outside and the trolley and train noise was constant so you may prefer dining indoors if you are looking for a quiet romantic meal. "This is just not a steak house. The seafood shined along with it. Outdoor dining makes you feel like you are in the heart of the city without the noice and bussel. "Unfortunately, I would have to say,fair at best. The fish I ordered was dry. I asked the waitress for very soft veggies ( as I have a problem with digesting raw veggies) they came out hard as rocks. I retuned them for the special rice that was a choice instead of veggies. When I was served the rice, it was just boiled rice. My friends experience was just as bad, as far as her burger being cooked way too well"

"This restaurant was INCREDIBLE! It was recommended to me by a friend and my boyfriend and I were blown away. Our server was so kind and was great with educating us on the food, the restaurant and the history of the place and construction. Then when our actual food came, our minds were blown ever further. I have never had steak so delicious and melt in your mouth amazing. The food was better than I ever could have imagined. To top it all off, we sat outside on the patio, looking out towards the convention center and the Gaslamp district. It doesn't get much better than that; great service, amazing food, fantastic scenery, it's everything I could possibly ever ask for."

"I took some clients out to Lou & Mickey's for dinner, and everyone loved their food. We ordered lost of appetizers to share, and sides to share with our meals. It was an overall great experience, but I will mention that if you are looking for a quick in and out place to eat, this is not the place for you. Our dinner took about 2 1/2 hours, and that was fine with us, but may not be for everyone."

"My husband and I took our daughter and son-in-law out for her 26th birthday. She loves fancy places and she was very impressed. My son-in-laws steak was not the way he wanted it and the sever took it back until the cooks got it right. They gave us extra sides and apologized each time. The customer service was outstanding and the valet parking was quick and at our service."

"Best rib eye with grilled onions and mushrooms --- ever! Well, it is a steak house! But we were there the night of Fat Tuesday and the bandstand was in front of the restaurant. Very loud. Difficult to enjoy dinner over the music. Will try again someday."

"It was our first time there and for the price we were not impressed. The food was a lil salty and we were seated rite in the middle of the aisle where every waiter seemed to bump my back as they walked by. Our service started well but we felt rushed to order and get out. For being a valentines day special the restaurant was not decorated for the evening just did not feel romantic at all. My fiance and I would not recommend this restaurant for any special occasion."

"We made a reservation little over a week before Valentines day. We showed up and were pushed out to patio dining. As we walked through the dining area inside I saw several tables open, the ambiance was seemed nice and quaint (where I wanted to be!). Well we hit the patio cold but with space heaters, and with the constant trains and trollies and ding ding ding of the crossing it just almost too much. The food was good but steaks cooled down quick from being out side. service was good and friendly. Cost Vs.our Experiance probably not going again."

"The food was excellent but the front desk situation was not. We arrived at 6pm for our 6pm reservation. The restaurant was almost empty with many open tables yet the hostess seated my wife and I at a table next to the kitchen! I immediately asked to be seated at another table since most were empty. The hostess, ( with attitude) said that all tables were reserved and this was the only one. Since I also had a reservation, I asked to speak to the manager, she went to get him while we stood there and came back shortly without the manager and offered us a choice of 2 other tables, one of which we accepted. Why did they seat us at the worst table when so many other tables were empty and then give us a hard time about asking to move?"
