"Table side chat was something I"ve never seen offered and was very good. The Lobster dish was excellent. The mixed tandoori grill was moist and flavorful. Tables are nicely spaced, so that even though the room was very busy we could carry on a conversation. I would definately go back."

"We so very much enjoyed our evening at Mantra. Our server Joesan, was gently attuned to our needs, and informative in helping us navigate the menu and our choices--all of which were amazing. The Crab Chaat was sensational and we "will" be returning to enjoy that again. My tandoor shrimp were wonderful, not to mention the cheddar/garlic naan bread!!! The service, food and ambience made the evening a memorable one for us."

"What can I say that I have not said before about this place. Always a great time no matter who I go with or what we might get. I defenetly recommend the table side chhat (not sure of the chhat spelling) and any chicken dish with an order of the bread."

"This is the best Indian restaurant...not only delicious, but beautiful as well. Located convenienly on Rte 4 in Paramus...a real treat.

"Mantra is a lovely Indian restaurant with excellent appies, entrees and veggie options. We went there using a Living Social coupon which was terrific -- 2 appies, 4 entrees, 2 orders of naan; 2 BOTTLES of WINE and 2 shared desserts for $99 ---- great deal. Service was good. My Lobster was excellent; as were the shrimp dishes. Nice ambiance as well Give it a try!"

"Mantra is upscale Indian Cuisine. Besides the upscale and inventive dishes on the menu, they can also make standard Indian dishes off the menu to order like Navartan Korma ( mixed vegetables in a mild curry sauce) and they are usually pretty good about handling special requests such as leaving out certain vegetables like peppers, and if they don't get it right the first time they will make it over again for you, The chicken tikka marsala is especially yummy, and made from slices of white meat chicken breast. Service is usually good here and parking is easy in the huge lot attached to the strip mall. If you are in the Paramus, NJ area, This place is definitely worth a try."

"It must have been an off night because everyone raves about Mantra. The service was terrible. Our waiter made great recommendations but then delivered the wrong food to one of our party. I don't think there was a bartender at the full bar-a luxury in the suburbs.
The restaurant begian setting up for Sunday's brunch before the dinner guests have left.
Moving big tables and setting up serving stations. Noisy and not conducive to a nice meal.

"This was our second dining experience at Mantra and we loved it as much as the first. The food is prepared beautifully and it is delicious. The mood of the restaurant is lovely...intimate and elegant.We like a variety of tastes so we order a few appetizers to share as well as an entree, also shared. "This was our first time at Mantra. It is a beautiful restaurant located in a shopping center in Paramus. The ambiance is wonderful....you feel like you are in a NYC establishment...lovely bar, lots of wood, mirrors, warm and cozy. "Waiter on cell phone, buffet had very little choices, very inconvenient as serving dishes are on top of a bar and the lids have to be lifted up and hinges were broken. So you have to learn over hot food to open lid completely so it doesn't slam down on you. Wait staff were not friendly at all. Food was eh....very bland."

"The ambience at Mantra was excellent. It was trendy and cool. The service was good and the servers were very responsive. The food was a mixed bag. The appetizers were excellent. However, we weren't too happy with the main course. We asked for everything to be mild but the food was too spicy to enjoy and we left a number of dishes barely touched. Finally, at the end, the tea we asked for was more like sweet water. We sent it back and when it came back it was a little better (this time it was brown in color as we expected as compared to the white color it was originally). Not sure what happended the first time....forgot the tea bag?"
