"We were seated in a very crowded room next to a table of about 20. There were booths available, and they remained available all through our dinner. There was insufficient room between my seat and the folks behind me and this was the only path to serve 10 of the other guests, so I spent the evening ducking under waiters arms, and constantly being brushed by servers headed to other guests. This was mildly annoying at first, but not enough to request one of the open booths. By the end of our meal, however, it was enough to make the whole affair unpleasant. This may account for my displeasure with the food (not bad, but not great) and service (very busy waitstaff, seemed to rush us)."

"Over all fantastic! Service, food and ambiance were all excellent. I was just in Italy in September and I felt Assaggio could hold a candle to the authentic cuisine served to us in Tuscany. Delicious wild boar and pappardelle, luscious seafood and pasta like Portofino Italy and light yet amazingly flavored beet and greens salad! We will be back and we will recommend Assaggio to all our friends and family!"

"The Maitre d' was delightful and seated us promptly at a table in the rear of the restaurant. The assigned waiter was efficient, busy, and pushy on the wine selections. I told him we were trying keep our tab moderate and asked his opinion about a $38 bottle of Sangiovese. He turned his nose up and tried to steer me to either a $99 Tuscan, or a $64 Tuscan. I passed, and asked for $43 Washington Claret. He returned and told me they were sold out. I then asked for, and received, a nice $45 local Cabernet.
The food was very good. Nothing exceptional, but no complaints there. The ambience is fun, small, bustling Italian ristorante, with what appears to be a nice bar. I would perhaps return and try the bar.
Beware the pushy wine upsell!"

"Booked a reservation for Seattle restaurant week. Table was not available when I arrived on time. Host asked if I would like a glass of wine, since my party had been waiting over 20 minutes. I expected the wine to be complimentary. It was not. Otherwise, waiter's service was good and friendly, although there was a little bit of pressure to upsell the alcohol.
Food was average at best. Balsamic vinegar cream for dessert was the highlight. Would not recommend, as there are many other better options for Seattle restaurant week."

"Incredible experience. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. He must have overheard me and one of my tablemates say let's split the gnocci and lamb shank. We each were served separate dishes for each item already divided up in the kitchen. I personally have never experienced that kind of service before without having to ask. The food as always was stupendous. I still can't believe how ample the portions were for the lamb shank. Go! Get! Enjoy!"

"We were visiting Seattle over the weekend and were staying next door at Hotel Andra. We have stayed at Hotel Andra on several occasions but have never been to Assiaggo. Well, we will definitely be back. The place has a great energy and the staff are all very friendly. The food was excellent. We wanted to try something close to the hotel. Next time we would travel a lot farther to go to this restaurant."

"The main courses were exceptional. Our party had a chicken special, the lamb shank, salmon, and beef. The appetizers were OK but we were trying something new so probably not to our taste. The service was unparalled. We were greeted and seated right away even though we were 30 minutes early. The waiter was very knowledgable and friendly. The food was served hot and in very short order. The owner came by the table several times and chatted and made us feel welcome. A bonus was there was parking right next door ($6.00 for the evening). Definately on our list to revisit this gem."

"This is our first time in Seattle so we relied on reviews from OpenTable to decide where to eat our first night in town.
Assaggio lived up to its reputation. We had excellent service, the food was delicious and came quickly, the host recommended a local Washington state wine, and our experience was fantastic. We are definitely coming back."

"I have eaten at Assaggio 6 times. I had the special a pasta in marinara sauce with shrimp, scallops, mussels. It was not that good. Very small shrimp and scallops with pasta under cooked. But service was outstanding. It should be noted that I still think this is in the top 2 in Italian dinning. I did however loved the Brussel Spout Appetizer that was saute in Olive Oil, Garlic. I would still eat at this restaurant because out of 6 times there 5 have been outstanding on there food."

"I knew as soon as I made my reservation that I had made a great choice. I was not disappointed! The service was incomparable. Our server, Michael, was quick to offer recommendations, including a wine that wasn't even listed on the menu (I think it was a Pinot Grigio). The food was not only delicious, it was nothing short of incredible. Perfectly prepared and presented. The entire experience was unforgettable and I will definitely be making this a regular stop."

"It was a surprise for my sister having her 65th Birthday! The food, wine, service and atmosphere were great! We tried some new flavors! The only disappointment was the rissoto the birthday girl order was not good! The rest of the party loved their food and would definitely go back. The birthday girl said, "She would go back, she would just try something else!"

"I love this place and have been here 4 times before. However the noise level and crowded table placement made a small (6 people) family dinner uncomfortable. We could not converse easily. I asked for a quiet corner and they squeezed us in next to another table of 6....and neither of us could get out without disturbing the other table. Regarding the food, most is excellent....but I do not recommend any seafood. 2 out of 4 dining experiences have been disappointing for seafood....very fishy taste. The service was excellent but for the price I expect all food to be exceptional and more comfort in seating."
