Step into the old country of Italy through Café Bionda (“blonde woman” in Italian). This South Loop eatery was brilliantly executed by partners Joe Farina & Gerard Burke. Farina is a seasoned chef who brings over 20 years experience to the kitchen, while Mr. Burke is the master mind behind the classic interior design. Café Bionda offers authentic old world recipes. "Great find; we were late, they accommodated us without issue and our table was great. Service was impeccable and not annoying; waiter was very helpful, and introduced a great new wine to us; we had 3 children with us and accomodated them with smaller potions from the menu (no kids menu) as well as adjusted the costs for the kiddie sizes. Great place for everything."

"This was a lucky find on Opentable.com. The fish of the day was prepared perfectly and my date's pasta was delicious. Great service from our server and her co-workers. Will plan to go again soon to try more menu items. Table was available right on time although the restaurant was full with some walk-ins standing at the entrance."

"I love the food here and it never disappoints. I've dined here about a dozen times and my latest visit was the first one where the lights were adjusted high enough so I could read the menu comfortably. I've mentioned this to staff before, so maybe the mgmt. has finally listened."

"The food was excellent . The home made pasta was outstanding. Our server was attentive without overwhelming us. I don't know what to make of the space. It's small. Dominated by 2 bars. We were lucky to find same day reservations. The place was packed. But we were sat by a window with no view in the second bar area which was empty. So empty we could still smell the cleaning product from the mop. Not nice at all. The hostess didn't address it. The group of six she sat after us in the very tucked in corner table immediately protested and they were moved. I admit we didn't because we just wanted to get our dinner started. It would have be nice to be asked if we didn't mind to be away from the action and sat behind a big column."

"Took my wife here to celebrate valentines day 2010. A great time, servers were great and our food was even better. My wife enjoyed the chicken Marsala while I had the linguine shrimp and broccoli. Very nice wine list and authentic Italian food. Dimly lit rooms with candles at each table definitly helped set the romantic feel I was looking for. Food came in a reasonable time and still allowed us to make our 10p show after, with plenty of time to chat and enjoy our wine. I will surely be returning here thanks opentable.com two thumbs up for this place."

"The food was quite good. We shared the brick chicken and it was as good as the waitress advertised. The view of the TV from the dining room killed any romance that may be found here and lowers the ambience. This is close but not quite for being a really nice place."

"This place started off kinda rocky. Me and my fiance went and we arrived early and had to wait at the bar, which was fine, but even when it was time to be seated they weren't ready for us. Service was kinda poor and it took long for our meals to come. When the food did arrive it made up for all the waiting and slow service and the noise. I would go back because the food was so good..I had theses sqaure shape pasta with the itlaian sausagea it was ssooo good and my baby had a huge chix parm which was good and we could share. This place is a little pricey but very food food."

"Food was very good, worth ordering the salmon and post roast again. Service was also top notch. Cocktails were short pours, ice packed above the rim when it hit the table. At $9.50 for top shelf, the least they could do is pour a decent sized cocktail. Wines also seemed pricey, in general 2.5x to 3x markup from retail. Portions are appropriate for their price. Expect to spend around $45.00 to $50.00 pp tax and tip with one appetizer and one dessert and coffee. All said and done, I plan on returning to this restaurant."

"Great food and great service, but the noise level is off the charts. It was early on a Saturday evening, and granted, during the holidays, but still very difficult to have a conversation. We were seated near the bar, so maybe the separate dining area would be quieter. Otherwise a nice place if you're in the South Loop."

"Cafe Bionda was great! All the food was absolutely delicious, and their specials were superb. As an appetizer we ordered grilled kalamari, octopus and shrimp, and I would have never imagined it to be so tasty! I had the Grouper with parmesan bread crumbs and spinach entree, and I could not get over how delicious it was. Also, since it was my birthday, our waiter surprised us with a scrumptious tiramisu! The only downside was the small dining room we were seated in, and I had a less-than-lovely view of the kitchen. They did a good job with lighting and ambiance, but I wish it was a little more spacious."
