"The food is really good, creative and tasty, and service is respectable. The space is well laid out and the decor is comfortable. The noise level, however, detracts from all the good news. I would eat here frequently if not for the noise. Maybe other days of the week would be better than Friday. It is a testament to the chef, however, that I return occasionally."

"I know there are many places in the loop where I could host business lunches and breakfast but as they say, "If ain't broke. Don't fix it!"
That is what I feel about 312. The service is outstanding. The food and serving sizes meets is equal to the price you pay. The atmosphere is well suited for conversation as you are not bombarded with outside noise.
I've had lunches/breakfast ranging in size from 2 - 15 and I have never had a bad experience.
Kudos to the staff and owners at 312."

"The food was fantastic & although our server was friendly, as soon as the theatre crowd emptied the restaurant, everyone started cleaning around us & it was basically like we weren't there. We had to flag down our server for the check & ask for dessert to go (we had a price fix dinner), because we had an 8:00 show to get to. We ended up having to leave without our desserts.
I'd highly recomend the salmon, it was amazing."

"made a reservation, so only had to wait a few minutes. Ordered the Fried Calamari with other fried fish. Nothing exceptional. It was probably below average. My friend ordered off the set menu. It was some meat with some red sauce/soup. He wasn't thrilled. He got the salmon. Had to send it back, it wasn't cooked enough for him. I had the risotto with beef tenderloin. It was okay. Not exceptional. My friend had a dessert coming, a rhubard tart,. That was really good. The restaurant only seemed busy with the after matinee crowd. There was no one coming after we left."

"312 Chicago is a great place to eat and celebrate events. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and he & I had a smile since we walk in the door to the end of our dinner. Great place to eat. "Once again, this was our "go-to" spot for a nice, relaxed and creative dinner before theater. We arrived early and received our table, actually our favorite table, promptly and without a concern. The prix-fixe three course menu has been a wonderful addition to the atmosphere and this time my wife chose it and I used the regular menu, just the opposite of our last visit. We were surprised by the delivery of an amuse-bouche, a chef's small plate for each of us, with tomato and buffalo mozzarella cheese, wrapped with proscutto, warmed and served with aged balsamic, an antipasti we vowed to order when next we dine there. Service was pleasant and well-timed. This is an establishment with consistent quality and one of our favorites."

"We had tickets to see a show next door at the Cadillac Palace and the wait staff and kitchen were extraordinary in getting our meal to us quickly, so that we could relax and enjoy our meal, the ambience wine and conversation, without a rush!!

"The reason I'm giving Service 2 stars is because our server did not attend to our table between the delivery of our wine before the first course and after dessert to deliver the check. I wanted to order more wine to go with the second course, and then maybe a drink to go with dessert. But instead my glass was empty for over 35 minutes, during which time my tap water was also empty for 10 minutes before being refilled.
The food itself was excellent and timely, and it was still a great meal. My wife and I understand that larger parties typically receive more attention than couples. But is it too much for a couple to want a second glass of wine on their 7th wedding anniversary?"

"312 is ideal as a nearby restaurant to the Cadillac Palace Theatre. The prix fixe menu was wonderful. I would definitely go there again when we are attending a play in the area. Petterino's is not the only place!!!! The valet parking at the Allegro Hotel made dining and seeing the show a splendid occasion."

"We arrived @ 5:45, holding 7:30 p.m. theater tickets. Joey the waiter was excellent, very polite and efficient, but hampered by the slow kitchen. Unfortunately, although he kept checking, our main course was extremely slow coming from the kitchen. There was a large private party on the 2nd floor that night, plus a party of 12 near us who arrived after us, but our main course came later than the table of 12. Joey knew we had theater tickets and did everything he could to get us out on time. We then had to rush through our main course in order to make the play and even asked for our check when we first received our main course, to speed up the process. The food was good and piping hot when it finally arrived and we would eat there again."

"Confidently and efficiently professional from check in at the maitre'd stand through service and presenting the bill. Food always is delicious and creatively prepared, the buzz in the dining room, while noisy, is energetic. An excellent restaurant for business lunch or a special place for lunch while shopping or visiting the Loop."

"Excellent location for the Theater goer. The Sunday brunch menu has a good choice of dishes and the food preparation was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive, responsive and knowledgeable. Definitely would return for brunch and will try for another meal time."

"Our first time for dining on the second floor. As has been our experience, the food was excellent and the atmosphere noisy but friendly - lots of diners having a good time. It was a Saturday night and quite busy. We had to remind our waiter more than once that we had been waiting a long time and that other tables were being served before the waiter got to us. We still will come to 312 Chicago whenever staying at the Allegro, and suggest it to our friends."

"312 offers theater goers a pleasant dining option. We both had the linguini, the sauce was very good, tomato cream slightly spicy with seafood (mussels, clams, shrimp and bay scallops). The seafood was a little over cooked but over all ok. We had the Buffalo as an appetizer, I would highly recommend it, wish I had ordered two. I will return to 312, it had been awhile and I liked the overhaul of the menu."

"was just around the corner from the Cadilliac Palace theater. Not very crowded on a Friday evening. Service was very friendly and efficient. Food items came out very fast(almost too fast!) A bit high with prices ,but it is downtown Chicago.

"It has been too long since I had been back. Picked it for a business lunch and because my manager is a Vegan, loved the fact they had a menu that was more than one item for him. The prix fixe is a great idea too! Definitely going back. My only complaint is that it was a bit noisier than expected, but overall very satisfied."

"my husband had chicken and it was tasteless tho tender. it came with rice which was good but you could count the number of pieces of rice he got. I had the halibut which was also tastesless but the cauliflower and onions were good.
I wish the food was better. we go to the theater often and there are not very many good restaurants nearby."
