Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar
Cuba Libre features a contemporary interpretation of traditional Cuban cuisine and a broad base of authentic Cuban cocktails, including the largest selection of rum in Philadelphia. The restaurant’s interior has a beautifully weathered historical feel. The materials combine warm mahogany and oak, cracked tile, painted plaster, exposed concrete and brick, and iron railings. With iron balconies overlooking a courtyard, a dramatic 30-foot ceiling, and paddle fans turning lazily, the space looks and feels like a street in Old Havana in the mid 1950s.

"We've eaten a Cube Libre many times and love the food. This was our first time for tapas brunch (on Mother's day) and were given a choice of à la carte or all you can eat. Based on price, à la carte doesn't make sense so we got all you can eat and were advised to order as we went along rather than all at once. We received two small plates each fairly quickly, but it was then a 40 minute wait between ordering and the next round of food arriving. A manager stopped by to check how things were, and when we mentioned how slow it was going, he simply said "happy Mother's Day" and walked away. It took 20 minutes to get a refill on coffee, and there were several empty tables. By the time the next plates arrived we didn't bother eating and left."

"GREAT PLACE TO DANCE SOME LATIN TUNES AT NIGHT. FOOD IS NOT THAT GREAT SO AS SERVICE. HAD TO WAIT A LONG LINE WITH HAVING A RESERVATION. ENDING UP JUST PAYING UNDER TO GET IN WITHOUT TELLING THEM ABOUT MY RESERVATION. DANCE FLOOR IS A BIT SMALL FOR THAT MUCH CROWDS. BUT AFTER THE COUPLE OF DRINKS IT WILL BE ALRIGHT. LOL THE MUSIC IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE PLACE IF YOU LIKE THE LATIN TUNES!"

"Normally I love Cuba Libre but their Mother's Day service was poor. They are just not well equipt to handle large holiday crowds. They left their outside veranda doors open far to long so the entire downstairs was cold. Dispite complaints and customers obviously tugging their jackets around their shoulders they left the doors open. Needless to say no one could change seats because it was just too crowded.
Waiters, bus boys and after waitresses, seemed hurried and showed stress. Ours was barely polite. Reception and Management appeared aware but was wholly unapologetic.
I think I'll always stick to a weekday during the off season before visiting them again."

"Visited this venerable Old City Cuban restaurant for Mother's Day. Service was excellent and the food was unsurpassed. Their Sunday brunch special allows visitors to pay one fee and have virtually free reign over the entire menu by sampling, tapas style, various and sundry Cuban delicacies. Due to the great variety and succulent selections on Cuba Libre's menu you can enjoy a true taste of authentic Cuban cuisine at a very decent cost. It was clearly one of the best brunch experiences I've had in quite some time."

"We chose Cuba Libre for Mother's Day brunch. I'd been before, my fiance hadn't. We were served drinks immediately upon being seated, then the server explained how tapas-style dining works: you order 2 to 3 dishes at a time, and they come out as they are prepared. The kitchen timed it perfectly, even on busy Mother's Day, so that each dish came out as we finished the one before it. Highly recommend Cuba Libre!"

"I love Cuba Libre. It is the perfect place for an intimate dinner date or for a fun group of girls for brunch. Their tequila and rum lists are renown, and the food is always fresh and cooked perfectly. The waitstaff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I am never disappointed at Cuba Libre!"

"The food was fine, the bar tender was very attentive and I was looking forward to brunch but the service once we sat at our table was the worst I have had in a very long time anywhere. He should not be waiting tables! It really made the experience not a good one and it was not even very crowded. No excuse for the bad service!"

"I had a party of 10 to accommodate and Cuba Libre sat us at two four-tops pushed together. How does that math work?? Needless to say, my party wasn't comfortable and management's effort at a solution was two slightly larger tables in a back room on the first floor. My party returned to its original seats and made the best of it. The food was tasty and the ambiance was upbeat, although a little loud for dinner (even upstairs)."

"We were looking for a place where we could eat and dance, but the dance floor is not open till 11:30 and our reservation was at 8 pm, so the options you have is you stay at the bar and wait or you come back, because what they do is move the table from the first floor. If you come back is a open place and we saw the line outside the restaurant, so that was not the idea we had. Is just we expected more."

"Second visit to Cuba Libre - it's hard to discount fantastic service, great food and a friendly atmosphere. Seems to be a real hot spot for friends of kids turning 21 to bring their friends for a first drink! The waitstaff knows their stuff, the manager works the tables and pays genuine attention to the comments of those dining. It'd been nearly 12 months since our last visit - I expect to be back well before another year passes!"

"I would say our experience was a 4 until my husband was asked to take out his I.D when he gave the server his credit card. Never ever happened before and we have been to many finer restaurants and never experienced this. Did the server think the name did't fit the face??? Not sure what the deal was."

"I was here for brunch about 8 yrs ago while on vacation. It was so good I had to drag my partners to it while we were on a business trip last weekend. It was the same great service, same great ambiance,and even better food!!! One of my partners is the epitome of a picky eater. We hardly heard a word from him the whole meal. He was too busy eating everything in sight. A true testament to how delicious the food is. And they couldn't get over how wonderful the place looked. It was a home run for Cuba Libre and a home run for me to see the delight on their faces!!!"

"We were there on a Sunday night. The place was a bit hectic and the service was not the best. You'd think for a fairly expensive restaurant they'd hire more and better trained wait staff. The food is always good here though. Would probably return for a lunch or a week night when I knew the service would be less strained with crowds."

"My second visit and it was even better than the first time. This time order from the entree list and wasn't disappointed. The roasted pork on a bed of mashed yuca was awesome. Yuca if not cooked correctly tastes as if you were eating paste, by the chef nailed it. It had a nice bit to it and still maintained that hint of yuca in it. Wish we would have gotten a later reservation we would have stay for the floor show and the dancing. Thats for another visit."

"It's a bit pricey for a larger group. The atmosphere was built for a couple because of the noise tight confines. The food had a nice variety. They had many options on the wine/beer list that seem to satisfy everyone. Valet parking is key for this area and evening reservations."

"Our server Ryan was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. (I almost always take servers up on their recommendations) and his was spot on!! We always get the 8 hour guava ribs which were, as usual, outstanding! And the seafood soup was extremely flavorful and delcious. Ryan made our experience extra special with his friendly, personalized and prompt service. he was busy with 2 larger parties, yet he was always attentive and accessible, but unobtrusive so we could enjoy a romatic elegant dinner at our favorite spot. I reccomend Cuba Libre to EVERYONE!!!"

"It was honestly better than what I thought it would be. I grew up in a Cuban family so I frequently have Cuban food, so unfortunately it's automatic to be biased and believe home cooking is better above all the rest. But it was AMAZING. All the food was astounding. We had the pork skewers, empanadas, mojitos, the tres leches cake for dessert and I honestly can't remember the name of our entrees but one began with "La Churrasca" I think and my boyfriend had a flank steak entree. The mango mojitos are phenomenal and they do put a good amount of alcohol in them! Overall it was a great experience."

"I was pleasantly surprised about this restaurant. I though it would only be the standard cuban fare of rice and black beans (not that that's a bad thing). Not only did I find my family's favorates but also some exciting twists on latin flavors.
If you're a seaford lover, try the soup "lavante muerto". OMG !! I seriously considered getting more bowls of it to let it be my entire meal. The mojitos are also the best around.
