"Compared to other steak houses the Palm was over priced and underwhelming. The steak was only average, the Monday Night salad was soupy, the hash browns weren't crisp, and the bar tender was rude. The sauteed spinach was up to par. Won't go back."

"My party of seven was greeted friendly from the front door to the table. In-kind appetizers of pickles and bread were great. Food was positively commented by everyone. This goes for the filet to the crab cakes, over to the Creme Brulee and chocolate cake. As our income is moderate, this is definitely a "special" occasion place for us. Very accommodating to group reservations and dietary requests."

"We like to eat at the Palm 6-10 times per year and are big fans. This was, by far, the worst experience we have ever had.Reservation was at 8:30 and we were seated at 9:20. Table was near the door, thus constant cold breeze, steak was tough, and stuffed lobster was dry. We saw our server once during dinner prior to having to ask another server to find her to bring us our check.My wife and I kept trying to find something positive about the evening and every step was just disappointing. We will not let one very negative example prevent us from going back but clearly this was not a great Vallentine's Day evening out for us."

"Lacking intimacy for romantic dinners, but could have been the table we were given and the fact that it was packed.

Food was excellent. Best fillet I've had in Charlotte. Waiter warned me that their "rare" was very rare, but it's the same as any good steakhouse. I shouldn't have listened -- my center could have been a little cooler for my tastes, but it was by no means over done. Outside was charred nicely and it was prepared without the mass of seasonings and salt that other restaurants put on, and which totally overpowers the taste of the meat (are you listening Sulivan's?).

Service was excellent. Server was able to answer all questions and make recommendations. Staff was polite and we were seated promptly."

"Even though it was packed with my reservation I still got a very nice table after a couple of minutes from the reservation time which is amazing! Nice atmosphere and excellent food(the filet mignon still melts on your mouth!)

"Not worth it. The filet mignon was good but everything else was fair. This was the first time I was ever given cold refrigerated bread in a restaurant! The wine was very expensive and added a lot to our bill. The soup and salad portions were small. The cheese cake was rich but had no toppings like cherries or whipped cream. They seated us in a booth by the kitchen and bar in a small corridor and when we asked for another booth (3 were open across from us) they said the others were reserved. During the two hours we were there 2 of the booths remained unoccupied the entire time. We'll never go back...can get better atmosphere and food elsewhere for less."

"We arrived prior to our reservation time but were seated promptly. Our waiter, Fernandez, was a gem--courteous, sharp and aimed to please. Our meal selections were taken and the food was on the table is such a short turnaround; we were amazed yet pleased. We both enjoyed crab cakes and they were perfectly prepared with large meaty pieces of crab complimented with diced fruits--delicious. Our desserts of cheesecake and key lime pie were great but somewhat massive in size to conclude the evening meal. Overall, we both enjoyed and will recommend to our friends and out of town visitors."

"Been a couple of times before, both times outstanding. This time, not so much. Waited 45 mins, even with reservation. Ended up just sitting at a booth in the bar area - very loud! Half-and-half (potato chips/onion strings) were excellent (highlight of the meal, for sure). Ordered filet mdm well. It came out mdm rare. We sent it back. It came back as charcoal. Twice baked potatoes had no flavor. Didn't even finish them. Service was slow. We were with friends and having fun, so the wait didn't bother us. "Despite having a reservation, we waited for more than 30 minutes to sit down at a table. Once at the table, our server was excellent (Jane, or Jen, I think), very prompt, informative, and attentive. "The steak was amazing. Soup - lobster bisque - average. The lobster bisque at Zebra is so much better. Wish I had gotten the mixed green salad. My son had the ceasar salad and said the dressing was oily. He likes the bottled dressing that we use at home - Newman's. Bread was great but the butter was hard as a rock. AND I think it is sleezy that they charge extra for sides -nearly $10 for mashed potatoes? please! I took the dessert home. Cheesecake was great. Chocolate molten cake good to great..not perfect.$8 for a bottle of pelligrino - not horrible - it was good. The tiny diet coke for my son - $3.50 - please!! anyway overall it was good. .but next time I'll try somewhere else."

"When we first arrived the restaurant was extremely crowded, which we assumed was due to restaurant week.We had an 8:30 reservation and were told it would be at least a 30 minute wait for our table. We were not seated until 9:30, one hour later.The Hostess was very apologetic and offered to cover the wine bottle we had purchased at the bar, a $60 bottle.After a rough start, the whole experience was excellent.The staff was very professional and couldn't do enough for us and the food was excellent.We had been to another steak house during restaurant week last year and we're not impressed by the size of the entree or the selection.I would highly recommend this restaurant, however, the regular menu was very pricey, special occassions only."

"We had the BEST experience during Charlotte Restaurant Week! Even though restaurant was packed, our table was ready on time and the waitstaff was helpful, cheerful and charming. Despite the crowd, our dinner was romantic and perfect - not scaled back to meet the $30 special prices. Every course was full-size and delicious: large, fresh salads with vibrant, homemade dressings, solid-crab crabcakes and perfectly prepared and seasoned steak. I can honestly say that I will not return to the establishment. Our server never actually stood at our table. He spoke to us and took our orders as he was walking past the table. I've had better servers at Applebee's. There are many other options in the area that offer the same level of food with excellent service. "STAY AWAY. The Lobster Bisque tasted like tomato soup with not even a fleck of lobster. The filet was average, the Key Lime pie: nothing special. Wait staff was frazzled, and unfriendly. They got us served and out in just 45 minutes. Fast food resaurants might learn from them. The noise level was beyond belief. I had to repeatedly ask my wife to repeat her words, and we finally gave up on carrying on any type of conversation. Even though we were hurried by staff to eat and leave... we were happy to do so. When we did reach the quiet of the street we agreed we would never return. This restaurant was not the upscale restaurant others said but rather a step down from several of the major chains. Not an enjoyable evening."

"We just decided to use a gift certificate we had received for Christmas and made a reservation for dinner. After having cocktails by my caricature near the bar, we went to the main dining area. I believe Marshall was our waiter. Everything was first class until my steak arrived luke warm. Marshall immediately took it back to the kitchen and within a couple minutes I had a sizzling hot steak that was cooked to perfection. The service was great and the food delicious. "Food was extremely over-priced for what you got and there wasn't anything special about it. Crab cakes were decent but $34 is ridiculous for 3 crab cakes with no sides, salad, or anything. I could get better from Bonefish for $10 as an appetizer. $11 for a "family style" side of potatoes that only barely feeds 2 people (and we are not big eaters) is a little ridiculous considering it should only cost about $2 to make the dish (and that is being generous).

Overall I was dissapointed and the only reason I went was because I had a gift card which covered a little more than half my wife's and my meals. We will not be going back ever again."

"Had a great meal. Regrettably the restaurant permits smoking in the bar and one patron chose to smoke a particularly odorous cigar. The smoke wafted through much of the dining room and gave cause to request we be relocated as my wife said to me that she was not enjoying herself. I have to tell you that I was SHOCKED by the menu prices, especially given this economy. The food was not bad but when you look at what we paid for it I had to rate it 1 star. Food portions too large. Taste & quality for the price is 1 star. My husband said his steaks at other restaurants in Charlotte cost less and tasted better. I had the salmon and it was not anything to rave about.

"The food was good, the attention to detail and service were definately off on the night we visited. Our server Kristin was fairly non-existent after she took the order, we relied on other servers to get a knife to cut our entree with, wine, and desserts. The ledges were dusty and it seemed as if the condiments on the table needed a good wiping. It's a shame, the food was good, but I feel I have recieved much better service and attention to detail at other restaraunts, therefore, I will tend to frequent those establishments more often. Also, even with a reservation, 3 other couples came in after us, and were seated because of their "status" with the Palm. That's not a way to impress any potential new members to the club."

"This place was awesome.... We recieved a gift card to dine here, so we went for my husbands birthday, we double dated with another couple and neither of us had been there before,but the food was GREAT,the service was great, the atomosphere was great."

"First time dining there. Had been recommended by friends. We took advantage of the surf & turf special they were running. Lobster was succulent, beef was very tender, Key line pie and cheesecake outstanding. Nice wine recommendation by waitress. Greeted by the manager and made to feel very welcome. Overall a wonderful fine dining experience."

"As always the food was fabulous! On this occasion we ordered from both the Thanksgiving menu and the regular menu the food was amazing. Our son ordered a lobster and it came cracked for easy eating...plus our busperson happily broke open the claws for him without us even asking. Definitely ask for Holly if you are bringing your children she was outstanding and made dining with three kids a breeze!"
