This vibrant Pacific Northwest brasserie, recognized by critics and diners alike as one of the "Best Hotel Restaurants", continues to excite! GRIFFINS' gorgeous sun-washed interior, with high-arching windows, features a unique open kitchen concept. Lavish buffet-style offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner feature the best of local ingredients. Long time favorites including slow-roasted Alberta prime rib, Queen Charlotte halibut and the famous Pacific seafood chowder keep legions of devoted patrons returning time and time again. Sunday brunch is another Vancouver tradition with a spectacular selection of local seafood, freshly-baked pastries, our famous cinnamon buns, Alberta beef and lamb, breakfast selections and exquisite desserts created by our pastry chef.
"Spacious and Gracious setting, lots of natural light, view of Art Gallery, but we gave up window seat for slightly warmer spot in the middle. Children's menu more extensive than most restaurants, and my mother's need for no pork was easily accomodated. Soup was on salty side so mother didn't eat hers (waiter took it off bill without trouble) but daughter and I cleaned our bowls. Most menu items quite pricey and portions small but presented very nicely. I really enjoyed my salad with prawn skewer add-on (more prawns than many restaurants provide). Service was slow, especially at the end."

"I usually visit Griffin's a few times a year and they always deliver good, consistent food quality as well as service. They changed up the menu slightly in the last year or so, I was sad to see a few favorite entrees disappear especially the dessert buffet. But they still execute the current dishes very well."

"What made Griffins different and popular was it's appetizer and dessert buffets. With these gone it's like anywhere else. There are so many excellent restaurants in Vancouver with much better service, convenience, ambience, and more menu selection (and not interesting), at the same or similar price range that there is no reason for diners to select Griffins as a dining option over ohters.
Service was very slow for a restaurant that was full and has only 8-10 menu options."

"Griffins used to be a favourite spot of ours. However, they have changed the menu and they cut out our two most favourite items...seafood appetizer and the dessert buffets. Also, the menu is way too limited (small). If they cut out those two items then the menu should be expanded. Our food took way too long to arrive. It wasn't our server's problem but by the time our food arrived I was starving (even w/bread).It's really too bad we used to love this restaurant."

"We had an earlier dining time (6:30 p.m.), and there were not many other diners there at when we arrived. Seating was prompt, but it took quite some time before our waiter approached us. More diners came in shortly after we arrived, apparently planning on dinner before the hockey game and it appeared that all of the wait staff (including our waiter) were dedicating their time to those people, resulting in fairly slow service for our table. When it did arrive, the food was very good and generously portioned. After we finished the meal, it took quite some time for our waiter to bring us our cheque. I believe in value for money, however, for the price range at Griffins, I would have expected much better service."

"If you want to do Sunday brunch its probably best to go on a non holiday Sunday.$69.00 for Easter brunch was a lot and I really feel the regular $39.00 brunch is just as wonderful. The staff really is exceptional and will do everything to make your visit the best possible."

"We and our two guests had the Sunday Brunch. The selection of breakfast hot and cold items was excellent, especially two types of eggs benedict, one with back bacon, the other with smoked salmon. There was a very good seafood buffet with crab and scallops included. Lunch type hot food included roast beef, beef bourguignon, pork ribs, roasted, skinless, boneless chicken breasts and poached fish fillets.
Service was very good in that the waiter kept the fresh orange juice coming for an appropriate time. He was not so prompt in filling our coffee cups having to be asked to do so at least twice. His manner, however, was friendly and helpful.
My only disappointment was that I thought the coffee was somewhat weak."

"It was our first time and the lunch buffet was excellent. A good selection of food and excellent service. The only thing I would recommend would be to have labels above the hot entree selections as there were several varieties of fish and meat, and on looking we couldn't tell what was what. As well, a gravy boat for sauces would have been good . We were given one when asked, but it would have been nice to have a proper ladle or something to utilize."

"Had a delicious lunch with my daughter. First time in having lunch at Griffins. We have had numerous dinners there. I just was in Seattle a week before and stayed at the Fairmont Olympic and had lunch and brunch in their dining area. It was a treat to do a Fairmont two weekends in a row even though we did not stay the night at the Vancouver hotel."

"New chef at the hotel. The ravioli was absolutely the best that I ever had. Giant wild stuffed mushroom ravioli with tomato cream sauce cut balsamic vinegar reduction and truffle oil. Topped asparagus spears and parmesan cheese."

"We went for Fairmont's "High Tea". Each person received their own bodum of their selected tea of which there was a wide variety to choose from. The food items were nice and inckuded petite sandwiches, scones with creme anglaise & jam and a selection of dessert items. It was an overall pleasant experience. It can be a little pricey if you dont have any coupons and the parking alone can run around $20."

"Hotel restaurants are very good for service and Griffins was no exception. Great service and great food. I had the Prime rib, medium rare which was perfectly cooked. The restaurant wasn't too busy on a Thursday night. We were not rushed and felt comfortable taking our time and enjoying the company. The dessert bar was fabulous especially if you like chocolate."

"We have dined at Griffins often and always enjoy their meals. Rarely have I been disappointed. Their appetizer bar is much more organized, the main course was served nice and hot, meat was tender. Their dessert bar has to be the best in town, their goodies are all made on the premises and taste delicious."

"Disappointed. Their appie taste better than their main course. Dessert buffet.... they need a better pastry chef there. I would rather have McDonald ice cream than their dessert. This was actually the second time I visited here since 3-4 yrs ago. Very went downhill. Under staffed for Valentine's day, need big improvement on main course, pan seared fish was dead dried. Prime rib was alright. Dessert, really, dont go just because you see "dessert buffet"."

"Rated food as fair because the last time we went was for the dine-out festival, and the entres (snapper & lamb) were basically tasteless. Very disappointed. Otherwise, the starter (breast of duck) was great. Also, on other occasions we were there, we ordered from the a la carte menu, and the dishes were good."

"Three years ago, we stumbled over Griffins and decided to make it our go-to spot for special occasions. That worked out very well despite a few glitches in later occasions. This last time we realized that all of these little mishaps had accumulated into a remarkable drop in quality and service. The ambiance is lacking, the fantastic waiters we had in earlier years are gone and even the quality of the food is no longer keeping up with other restaurants in this price range. In all honesty, the pastry bar was the thing that brought us back for one more try; now we're not sure this will be enough to draw us back again."

"Lunch buffet was well worth it. Lots of selection for all palates. Lamb and beef was cooked well and very tender. Tons of tasty dessert selections that were perfectly sweetened. Great service and really family friendly. Layout is perfect for a family outing because the room is spacious and there is plenty of room on the table for lots of food and elbows :)"

"I use to dine here very often but recently they have changed the menu and the price of the entrees do not include the dessert buffet. The food is not bad but if it does not include the dessert buffet, I may not come as often as I use to. Now you have to pay extra to get the dessert buffet. Most of my friends and friendly like the idea that it comes with the dessert buffet and also it's a good place for large groups or if you want to have dinner and sit and chat for a bit. If they don't include that anymore, there are many other places to eat that serves better food."

"I have been to Griffins Lunch Buffet on many occasions over the past 15 years, mainly for lunch, when I was working in the downtown core. The food (buffet lunch) was always good, but over the past couple visits, I have noticed a marked improvement. The meats, and in particular the fish dishes, are not overcooked like they used to be. I thought my last visit was the best it has been to date and I look forward to dining with you again soon."

"We've been coming back to Griffin's for years now for special occasions and Dine out festival, but more and more each year we've come to realize how less and less attractive this place becomes and how much more a restaurant like this could deteriorate throughout the years.....sad but very true! Don't recommend it at all!"

"The meal as always was excellent at Griffins, But I must say it was the service that made the meal most enjoyable. I must say that we say "Thank You" probably more than anyone I know, but rare is it to have the server reply "You're most welcome" every single time. We consider ourselves lucky at other restaurants if we get a grunt of acknowledgement. The service at Griffins is top notch!!!"

"Feels the service could be better if we weren't ordering from the fine out menu. The waiter tried his best to be nice. The food was alright, but anyone that knows Griffins knows you are in for their dessert. And those were great, even when we were 95% full. If you are curious what a heritage hotel has to offer in terms of food, you can try this out."

"Went to Griffin's for DineOut Vancouver 2013 as a birthday dinner with some friends. Mentioned it was my birthday and gave me a great cake. Food was fair. Not much selection as it was dine out but overall had good experience. Service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Dessert buffet was great idea, but desserts were very basic and nothing to look forward too. Would recommend during a different time, and not for dine out."
