Only at SUSHISAMBA will you find a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, music and design. Hearty moquecas and colorful seviches are served alongside more inventive dishes, including Tuna Tataki and Wagyu Gyoza. Complementing the menu are signature cocktails made with exotic spirits such as shochu and cachaça and an acclaimed sake list, as well as wine, beer and champagne. Equal parts imagination and history, the SUSHISAMBA experience is truly unique.
"We tried out Sushi Samba for Mother's Day brunch and found all the food to be absolutely delicious. The blend of Japanese, Peruvian and Brazilian works surprisingly well!"

"We go here all the time. The thing that we love about it is that those that like sushi can eat with those that don't. Both the sushi and the food are great, although some of the menu changes have gotten us confused and we are unhappy with them."

"The host kept us waiting an hour for an 9pm reservation for 3ppl. This was a birthday dinner so it was a special occasion that was definitely ruined.
The worst part was that we kept being told we were next to sit from the minute we got there and then repeatedly kept seeing others sit. They definitely took more reservations than they had tables for.
Horrible experience will not go back and will recommend others do not go either."

"I'm very disappointed with the service and quality of park ave location. I have waited over an hour even with a reservation. When finally I got a table they were out of half of the menu. Very disappointed."

"I come to NY once a year and Sushi Samba has always been a special place for me. It was like a tradition being repeated every year since 2004. Unfortunately this time your sushi was an absolute disapointment. Meat was good. Sushi was dry with poor taste - just like what you get in those plastic boxes that are sold in supermarkets. To cut a story short your sushi quality has severely deteriorated. Thank you for your attention"

"Great meal! Delicious and unique menu items. I just don't suggest getting "regular" sushi. The pieces of fish are very small and at $4.50 per piece..."

"Such poor service that I wonder if I will ever return. Granted, my friend & I came at 5pm for a pre-movie light dinner, but the place WAS OPEN, we had made reservations; our waiter just didn't look after us. It took way too long to get first our drink order, and then our food. The food when it came, was great. But sitting around, waiting and being ignored was no fun."

"Sushi Samba has a great vibe- nice decor and live DJ performing on the night we were there. Service was excellent. The food was good, but did not blow me away. I've dined at the Miami and Las Vegas locations and by far the quality of the rolls at those locations was far superior to what was plated at this location."

"We were in NYC and decided to go try it assuming it would be just as good. Absolutely the total opposite. We are regulars of Sushi Samba in Miami where it is one of our favorite restaurants and in Miami we would rate it 5 in all categories. Food in NYC was mediocre at best, service was very average and terrible if one compares it to Miami where the waiters are warm and helpful and prompt. Staff should be retrained by the team in Miami as well as the chefs should be sent to Miami to learn to cook like they do! We will not be returning to Sushi Samba in NYC!"

"I come here for years, food is excellent and fresh. Usually I have sushi and other raw seafood. El topo is their outstanding roll. This time I also tried Bazilian rice with seafood which was heavenly. Drinks were a little watery but still this is the best Sushi Samba. Service by Salomon was outstanding. This is the best service I ever had in any of their branches."

"The omakase menu is very delicious and offers great variety, though it was just simply too much food. The beef is very good as is the sushi, though by the time the sushi comes out we were rather overwhelmed by all the other previous courses and their more intense flavours."

"This place has great sushi and varied options. If you like sweet drinks this place would be perfect for you. They have great twists on traditional sushi. The biggest critic is that it was way to packed for such a small place. A few less tables would have been appreciated."

"I chose Sushi Samba for a date night after a good friend recommended the chain (after visiting the Las Vegas location). I didn't find the Sushi that amazing and was actually expecting a greater selection of hand rolls an special rolls. The small plates were actually nicely size to split between two people, we had the rock shrimp which was quite delicious.
Out server was a bit short with us, but we have come to expect the worse from most servers in New York City, so we didn't even care. One last note - if you are going for a more ambient experience make sure you get a table in the back by the bar rather than the main dining area - it's night and day different."

"The food at Sushi Samba was amazing and was definitely a highlight of my trip in NYC. All of the meals selected were delicious and well presented.
The service wasn't great, I felt that we weren't looked after as well as we could be and the waiter was paying a lot of attention to the table next to us and not us."

"Service here was horrible. We arrived early for our 8:45 reservations, yet were not seated until 9:45!! There were no apologies for being late, not even an acknowledgment of it, we were just told "it's a busy night". Our waitress never brought us water that night, though we asked multiple times, and our courses came all out of order. We received our meals before our appetizers, and after our meals were finished, she brought the side of rice, after having to ask her where the rice was many times. It's a shame because the food is very good, but because of the service, we would absolutely never return. Also, they did not set up anything in front of the door, so we froze the entire time. Awful experience."

"Went to SUSHISAMBA Park for restaurant week with my wife. I have been here before and it was great but this visit was a bit of a let down. The let down was mainly because the waiter we had was not very good at all. We sat down for 10 minutes before he decided to come over and asked us about drinks. And then as we went through the meal, it was hard to get his attention to get a refill for our drinks. I had to literally stick my hand out in front of him to stop him. We waited for a good 20-25 minutes between entree and dessert. No reasons or apologies for the long and unnecessary wait, I was just about to ask for the manager when the desserts showed up."

"While SS has great food, we were seated in the bar next to the door on a 10 degree January night. The door was constantly open and we ate a $400 dinner while wearing winter coats. No opportunity to move in a full house. door should be covered with a curtain or locked. ridiculous."

"This was a total disappointment. After hearing countless stories of coworkers having fantastic lunches and dinners here (with their clients not to mention) I decided to try it for Restaurant Week. We were seated next to the door and kept being bumped into by the staff. Our waiter took 15 mins to take our drink order. Our suppoosed to be sake was served lukewarm. The food was terribly salty. I got the wrong desert served to me. It was an awful experience. I will be advising my colleagues, friends and clients NOT to dine here."

"Went for restaurant week Winter, 2013. Made a reservation for 5, table was ready within minutes but we were seated right next to the door on one of the coldest night of the year, so keeping a jacket on was almost a necessity. I had the wagyu beef tartar app (delicious and tangy) which was top notch, and the kabocha cheesecake which was also delicious for dessert. My main however was the neo tokyo roll with the chef's sushi selection, which was only 10 pieces, all of which were undersized and uninspired. For a fusion restaurant, I was disappointed in the lack of imagination in my sushi. The restaurant week portions were visibly smaller than the regular menu. My friend did not order the restaurant week menu and got an app and stew for 3$ more"

"Great service, delicious food, loved everything about this particular SushiSamba. Food was very fresh, sushi delightfully refreshing and the cocktails and sake were just as amazing. Lush decor and ambiance, seating was perfect, not too close to other table just enough space to be able to talk freely. I was pleasantly surprised but definitely a fan!"

"Sat us by a back door and refused to keep it closed. Food was not that amazing. Small portions. They did take back drinks that were not liked and took them off the bill which was very nice. Very dark. Not worth the $38 for restaurant week."

"I went for restaurant week and I'm not sure what was suppose to make Sushi Samba special. The sushi was good, but not over the top. The dessert was delicious however. It's also very strange how there is a separate but conjoined bar/restaurant right next door with heated lamps while the Sushi Samba main entrance is brightly lit with no heated lamps. Every time the door opened the entire restaurant filled with cold."
