"Restaurant was very busy therefore noisy. Tables are to big so anyone across from you is far away for intimate conversation.

Ordered the wagyu beef special $95.00 for 6 oz, not that impressive for the price.

Service slow, was never asked if everything was alright. Found a bone in the lamb loin, called waiter and all he said was "oh"."

"The food at One is outstanding. Appetizers were the beet salad, a delightful collection served on a slate tablet, and the surprising fried chicken tacos, delicious on a wooden plank. Mains were chicken schnitzel, which sounds pedestrian but tasted anything but. Black cod was delightfully light. All the dishes had wonderful additions and sauces.

The side dishes were adequate. Oriental greens were tasty, but the frites were disappointingly ordinary.

Service was attentive, efficient and friendly. Desserts were sublime. My only criticism is that this is a very noisy restaurant, at least during the early evening when full of the after-work office crowd."

"It was my 87th birthday and we mentioned the "special event" nature of our visit on the reservation. Yet, our first greeting, while proper, was a minimal welcome by the "seating ladies". Service improved dramatically thanks to a charming waitress .The patio is probably the best in Toronto, beautifully equipped with vibrant street views. However, the sophistication of cooking, at least from what we had, was less than what what we expected. The "lobster spoon" was chewy and boring ,the caesar salad was only average, but the tuna sashimi was excellent. The star of the brunch was the ending: a superb cappucino creme brulee. We wanted to try this patio ever since it opened. We enjoyed it on the whole but will go on and try some new places..."

"Food was great service was friendly.

But the wine list was off the clock over priced. My colleague is not at all short of cash and both he and I were astonished at how remote the price vs value was. And that is even if you take into consideration the location etc..."

"The food was all right, but not great in view of the prices. Waited 30 minutes to order. Asked for more bread, 3 times before we got it. Had to send back dessert because it was only half heated...after waiting 20 minutes, still didn't have it, then when we told the waitress we didn't want it anymore (had finished our coffee by then), she said we had already ordered it and it was being prepared. Asked for the manager, who dealt with the problem more appropriately. Would not go back."

"My wife and I went to the One Restaurant on Saturday night. When we entered to the restaurant, we had a warm greeting. The overall food quality is very good. However, the service was a bit disappointed. First, our server asked us a few time do we need any drink/ wine, because my wife is pregnant; therefore, we didn’t order it even we want to. Since then, our server disappeared until we finished our dinner which is around 1 hour after. When we paying the bill, our server just put my card into the interact machine and left without saying “thank you” or anything. With the price that I am paying, I am expecting to have high quality of food and a good service, but not based on the amount that I am paying."

"Food was excellent and we have a fabulous server. The special of the day was outstanding but highly overpriced for what it was. Unfortunately that leaves a bad final overall impression.

"I have to admit, having visited three of Marc McEwan's restaurants in the past three weeks (minus Fabbrica) has given me the opportunity to understand what this chain is all about. The concept of ONE is good; on a nice area of town, with a nice bar and cozy light fixtures and fur in the walls. The crowd is also a bit different from what you would find in North 44 or ByMark. Service was just ok; I really was expecting more from the server, specially when asked to recommend a 'bubbly' drink - I really expect for the person to make a recommendation, considering that this is our third drink, and not bring the menu again for us to choose. The tartare was also OK (the one at North 44 is far better!). The best thing on the menu: the pastas!"
