Only at SUSHISAMBA will you find a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, music and design. Hearty moquecas and colorful seviches are served alongside more inventive dishes, including Tuna Tataki and Wagyu Gyoza. Complementing the menu are signature cocktails made with exotic spirits such as shochu and cachaça and an acclaimed sake list, as well as wine, beer and champagne. Equal parts imagination and history, the SUSHISAMBA experience is truly unique.
"The chefs tasting menu is delicious. But beware of really wasted people sitting next to you and falling over on you. Luckily the restaurant manager refused to serve them more alcohol, but it was still uncomfortable. The people opposite us couldn't stand it and left early. Unfortunate."

"This restaurant is a favorite! The only complaint is that they were in renovations and only had a small section of their top floor open. There was no way of knowing this from the open table site."

"I've been to Sushisamba many times over the years and the food remains wonderful. On this occasion, our server did not know the specials or even how many of the items on the standard menu were prepared. Our server disappeared in the forty-five minutes following delivery of our entrees, although we had highlighted that we would need to leave early to attend a show. The food was great, the service disappointing."

"SushiSamba has lost its spark for me. The waitstaff is barely friendly and make me feel like I am a nuisance for being there. Patience and friendliness go a long way."

"Food was not great. Poorly produced rice - the foundation of sushi(and it was cheap Calrose or some such, over cooked and badly seasoned). Tuna was old, not past use by, just old for sashimi. Recipes are very creative, the tiraditos and ceviches were ok. It was Monday and that might explain it, but the Sushi Samba of the past was not in attendance there on Monday night."

"This wasn't my first time at Sushisamba 7, but it was a welcome reminder of how much I always enjoy my experience with them. Our server was great! She was extremely attentive and receptive to all of our needs. Thank you for yet another fabulous and tasty venture!"

"I have been here several times in the past and it's always a fun dinner. My 20 something cousin was visiting from out of town and wanted to have sushi. I thought this was a fun place to eat that would be something she had not experienced before. She liked the ambiance and overall the food was pretty good. The problem was that we sat for about 15 mins without being acknowledged, were never given water or a drink menu. A few minutes in I even asked for a drink menu but was not brought one for quite awhile. It was semi busy but this was really poor service. After we ordered each course took about 25 mins to come out after the previous courses plates were cleared. We were still hungry but chose to go elsewhere to finish our meal."

"We had a lovely meal with our four kids. The kids' menu is great value and slightly more adventurous than the usual. As for the grown-ups there is plenty of interesting food. I probably wouldn't recommend it for a romantic dinner and the decor was slightly tired but it's definitely a great option if eating out with kids."

"The El-Topo roll is spectacular... we ordered another one after dinner was over because it was that good. The ceviche traditos are really really good. Tuna, Salmon, and Yellowtail were all great... Tuna really stood out. Always a fun time!"

"Great food; great environment; music was on but low-level so relatively unobtrusive; respectful people (on a Saturday night in the Village in NY, even!!!); great service. Really very nice place. Not cheap, but worth it."

"Although the restaurant was great in every other aspect (food, accomadating to my reservation notes), it took them over 40 minutes to actually seat us, even though we had a 8 PM reservation! Whenever I asked the hostess "how much longer" she was unable to tell me. We had table reservations at a hookah lounge at 10:45 PM, which we ended up missing because we were seated at almost 8:50 for a 8PM reservation."

"The service here was one of the best I have ever had. They were quick with drinks and our food. They were constantly coming by and taking away empty edamame pods. The food was also very good and our waitress was great with recommendations. The music was a little loud and the couple next to us was obnoxiously loud but thankfully when we asked to be moved they did not hesitate and moved us immediately which was wonderful."

"Ridiculous wait time even with rsvp. I was not accomodated with a quiet and intimate spot as I had asked for my special occassion. Instead, we were placed in a table that was four inches away from two other tables on the left and right."

"The sushi was fresh and delicious. The best sushi I've had in awhile. The service was great and the restaurant is really beautiful. The music was REALLY loud but then again it was a Friday night. Hard to hear my date at some points to the point we were yelling across the table to each other. I would return in the future and can't wait."

"We went for the 3-course Restaurant week menu and everything was great. My only complaint was my appetizer. I ordered the scallops and, while they were good, they were tiny and there were only four of them. My fiance's appetizer was great, though. The service was just ok. I ordered a coffee and Bailey's and the waitress forgot to bring it. When I reminded her, she had the bartender bring it out but what I got was espresso and Bailey's. This was a terrible mixture, much too bitter, but when I explained to him that what I wanted was drip coffee, he said they didn't have it. How can a restaurant that serves brunch not have drip coffee? All in all, the food was good, but paying $11 for the gross espresso&Bailey's mixture was a little annoying."

"Definitely a hot spot with a vibrant bar scene, service is usually ok, the sushi is always OFF THE CHARTS, also, not too expensive considering the portion sizes you get."

"I have been wanting to come here for the longest time and so my sister and I made reservations when we saw this place on the restaurant list. Getting the reservation was very easy. Love the area... the heart of west village. When we got there for our lunch reservation, the place was a little empty so we got seated right away. It took a while for our waiter to get to us. The food was mediocre... I've had better sushi for WAYYY cheaper. I don't know if it was because I had high expectations or because I am a bit of a sushi snob but it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. The food was slow to come out... it wasn't even busy at all... we waited forever for our dessert... overall, it was kind of a disappointment for us."

"Seated upstairs which was very noisy. Food was good and they have great drinks. Service was just OK, nothing special. Wasn't the best experience here this time. Pricey but sushi is very fresh and delicious. Has its pros and cons."

"Food was great and I heard the service is normally good but they must have had an off night because we waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes to find out that the hostess forgot about us (Luckily, they had a good dj playing some nice tunes while we were at the bar). Then they sat us at a table in the corner and then playing musical chairs until they found a location comfortable enough for. This says that they had tables open but still made people wait. Not good customer service!!!
The food and drinks were very good which help make up the wait for us. We plan on visiting again the spring/summer to enjoy their outdoor sitting. Hopefully we will not have an encore of this experience!"

"The portions were small, the menu was not completely accurate to reflect their restaurant week menu- why i had picked the place. manager said it was changed yesterday ) . Trendy and expensive; we left disappointed. My soup with snow crab- tasted like it was krab with a k. Dessert was best part of meal. ( not a good sign )"
