Fuel Restaurant
Fuel Restaurant is a Modern Bistro and wine bar. Specializing in country French cuisine, we offer steak frites, coq au vin, braised beef short ribs, and other traditional favorites. We also offer a 4 course tasting menu, which is designed specifically for your table. Our award winning wine list tops 126 bottles, and we offer 24 wines by the glass. Our atmosphere is "urban cozy", and we welcome casual, and business casual diners. The dining space is bistro style, with tables arranged in long rows. Or, try our chef's table, right in our kitchen. Our music is ambient, featuring Telepopmisik, Stephane Pompougnac, De Phazz, and others. Diners with special restrictions or requirements are welcome. "Not our 1st dining experience with this restaurent and it has Always been a good one. Unfortunately, on this occasion, after we were seated, and the water glasses filled, we were literally ignored for well over 20 minutes. Other tables that were seated after us were served their salads. We had to stop the hostess and request service. The remainder of our visit was well enjoyed by our party of 4. The flat iron steak was a hit."

"We went to Fuel for our 30th anniversay dinner and mentioned it when making our reservations. All contacts congratulated us meaning they read & disseminated our special request. Menu offerings were varied along a French theme but not overly so. I had the pork tenderloin and it was far & away the best I'd ever had, cooked just so and stuffed with the right mix of vegetable and cheese. It was served with tender roasted baby red potatoes, also delicious. My husband had the house filet and said it was excellent as were the mashed potatoes served with it. The house pinot noir was very good, well balanced and my husband's margarita was strong enough with the proper amount of salt on the rim. We'll be going back and taking guests."

"I've been fortunate enough to circle the globe in my 43 years. I find it funny that out of all of the places I have dined around the world that the restaurant that would nab the #1 through #5 slots for best meal & dining experience would be Fuel a restaurant in my home town. "Thre Merry Widows and I like fine dinning and FUEL is about the only area spot that quilifies. Service is very good and food is a cut above the normal menu. The Fondue is the bargin and the drinks are over the top. Menu is limited but eclectic."

"I found my dinner bland, it was described as having saffron in it and I couldn't taste it. The serving was way too big and I left about half of the pasta and mussels. I took home some of the fish and shrimp. I would have been better off with a couple of appetizers.
The reservation was changed to 4 and the other three people enjoyed their steaks. I guess I ordered the wrong thing.
The atomoshphere is very nice and it was hopping. I would go again and get something from the bar menu."

"We have been wanting to try Fuel for a very long time. It seems the only days we both can go out is either Sunday or Monday and Fuel was always closed. Well we decided to drop everything on Tuesday and go for dinner. It was well worth the wait.

"I have heard rave reviews about Fuel. It was good, not outstanding. I found the food to be slightly bland. The ambiance was disappointing and nothing special. It was brightly lit which was slightly odd. The service was good, but strangely slow for how few people were there. By no means do I like to be rushed, but a little more attentive when glasses of water are empty etc... I would like to give Fuel another shot when I am in town again, but as of now I would go to Fishbones instead. The best part of Fuel was the wine list."

"Fuel has dramtically slipped in the past year. It was formerly outstanding, now merely above average.
Cauliflower soup was excellent, pork belly riclette downright boring and flavorless.
Filet mignon was perfect (but hard to ruin), coq au vin was without the depth of flavor expected - was it not braised in wine?
Many patrons left with 'doggie bags". I don't consider this a sign of a good restaurant, and I don't want to feel that there is too much food to eat at one sitting. Volume does not imply quality or value.
Perhaps the kitchen was having an off night, but my previous meal at Fuel was at a different restaurant."

"Wanted to try something totally new so I ordered osso bucco, it was incredible, good portion. The waiter suggested the tuscan wine which paired nicely. "Had bar menu this time and the bartender was knowledgable and charming as well as a good waiter! I ate the smoked seafood soup which was perfectly smoked! My fellow diners said the burgers were to die for and the chocolate desserts were both lovely. Prices are more reasonable at the bar and the sample of Glenfidich 18 the bartender poured me will have me coming back for scotch and dessert. Absolute win!"

"Our entres were good, not outstanding.
The fondu appetizer was very sub-par. Lots of flour rather than French/Swiss cheeses. The low price should have been a tip off.
The atmosphere is great. Service was outstanding as usual."

"I realize that we added 2 more 1/2 hr before our scheduled reservation, however, once seated the service was poor and very slow....The food was good, but really overpriced for what we received. Because of the add-on, we were told it would be 1/2 longer to be seated. Service when we got there waiting to be seated was very good in getting a drink and an appetizer to hold us over. However, once seated at our table....way too long of a wait before being served.Sorry, but we were a little disappointed."

"Food outstanding as usual. However, the service was definitely not up to par. Good service up to the point we got our entrees, then practically non-existent.We had to ask for a dessert menu at about 8:15 PM, and it was after 9 PM before it was brought to the table. We were not the only diners experiencing this."

"Fuel is one of several restaurants that make driving a few miles north of Portland, Maine well worth the trip. It quickly became a magnet for new business in the Lewiston / Auburn area – proving one could get a Boston-quality dining experience here and at a nice price. The owners are natives, moved out to the big city and moved home to establish Fuel, Marche (a mid-day experience) and are developing a third location. We dined on Valentine's Day, I was a lot more interested in my date as she explained each item she had sampled in the past having been to Fuel several times. Each item matched our romantic mood."

"I would suggest that more attention be given to the "note" portion of the reservation form. I specified a table for 6 more to the front of the restaurant and not the back table near the rear exit door. Upon arrival, we were led to the very rear of the restaurant near the rear exit door, not attractive and very drafty. we asked to be moved and we were pleased with the new table."

"My third visit to FUEL. Never disappointed. Amazing cuisine that is reasonabley priced. Good protions. Service is over the top good. If you like a quiet dinner, book before 7 pm. It really fills up and gets noisier than I like after that. On a scale of 1 to 10 - FUEL gets a 12."

"Fuel is a restaurant that offers your palate a treat! Everything we had at our table was delicious. The portion size was just right. The seasonings were flavorful, yet not too much. The monk fish was break-away and flavorful, and osso buco was fork tender. I was less impressed with their creme brulee, but it was as good as anywhere - just not as fabulous as the rest of the meal. Here's hoping for a better desert next time.
We look forward to dining there again soon!"
