Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, the world’s leader in innovative Japanese cuisine, is celebrated for his expertise of blending classical Japanese techniques with exotic global flavors, and for cooking from his ‘Kokoro’ (heart). Chef Matsuhisa also sincerely understands, respects and embraces Hawaii’s matchless sense of place and its extraordinary indigenous delicacies. Nobu classics like the Yellowtail sashimi with Jalapeno, Rock Shrimp Tempura and Black Cod with Miso are offered on the menu.
"You can probably get same quality food for less at other fine dining japanese restaurant. The portions were just too small. I understand the labor and creativity but I feel like they are forcing you to order more food and spend more."

"Hostess was unable to find my name until I remembered that I booked online via Open Table website. If I did not remember it was booked through Open Table website I don't think I would of gotten the points."

"Got the omakase, and each portion was perfect. Staff was great too: clearly and nicely explaining every detail to us, and even brought club soda to me (without being asked) when I spilled something on my shirt."

"Great to see continued innovation at Nobu's. We're glad we opted for the omakase offerings as most of the items served were quite unique and creative. We never would have had what was served if we went with the standard menu items. The higher price for the omakase is definitely worth it!"

"For years now, I've wanted to eat at Nobu. Finally I got my chance and it didn't let me down. The meal and experience were amazing! If you can manage to spend the money, I highly recommend the Omakase (chef's choice) menu. The beginning level is 8 courses of deliciousness!"

"Have been to Nobu Waikiki 3 times now and this last experience was disappointing. The service was very poor-our waiter took forever, messed up our drink order and forgot to bring water. Another wait staff came in to help and was really efficient. 3 years ago I felt Nobu was trendy, special and super cool w excellent food. While the food is still good, the restaurant space seems disorderly, loud and rather unbecoming. The bar area is still excellent w great staff. Not sure I'll return to an average experience."

"While the interior decor is unique and tasteful, it comes off as little more than a big, open, noisy college cafeteria dining room. The tables are bare wood (no table cloths) and there are numerous large round tables that facilitate the family-style dishes they so artfully prepare. That being said, the food is absolutely fabulous and the service crisp and professional. Not the kind of place for a quiet, romantic candlelit dinner, but if you want rockin' good sushi, sashimi, etc., this is the place, no lie."

"Great food as always. Great service and recommendations. However , we were seated at an undesirable table tucked into a corner very close to a family with 2 small loud children which was less than ideal for an anticipated romantic evening."

"Nobu, in Miami, Waikiki, or elsewhere, continues to be at the top of our list of favorite restaurants. The food is delicious, authentic (I lived in Japan for 4 years), and very well presented. The wait staff is courteous, prompt, but we never feel rushed. We look forward to returning."

"Our waiter was taken away from us in the middle if ordering our food by a very bossy head waiter who wanted him somewhere else. By the time he returned he couldn't remember first half of our order. First dishes were ok - not wonderful. Only good dish was the butterfish. The couple next to us received 3 'sorry's' for the delay to their dessert then twice got the wrong bill. Overall a very disappointing experience that we will not repeat."

"Flat out, Nobu is one of the finest dining spots in all of Honolulu so don't miss it! The Japanese hot food Nobu style is mind blowing! If you can't taste everything - simply come back and eat again! Spectacular! We celebrated my wife's Birthday and were thrilled!"

"We have been to many of the Nobus around the world & this one is not as good as many of the others. Some of the portions are extremely small especially the specials. The sushi we ordered was pretty bland & the tempura was not at all delicate. All in all it was a bit disappointing."

"This restaurant was amazing! We had Brandon as our server and just let him pick everything for us. With a group of 4- we were so happy with everything he picked. Each dish would get better and better. We had a little bit of everything from appetizers, to warm dishes, to sushi and even dessert. I can't say enough about how great this dinner was!!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed the Nobu fish & chips, but were in heaven over the hot pork dish. That was fabulous. Wine-by-the-glass pours were pretty stingy, especially given the price."

"Definitely a splurge but so worth it! We order the tasting menus (9 courses) and we were not disappointed. Some highlights were the toro in the dashi broth. Grilled sea bass with a crispy mushroom excellent. Duck breast awesome! Waygu beef and foie gras dish heavenly and amazing. I could spend all day taking about the food and the flavors but you just have to go and see for yourself. Excellent all around!"

"This was the worst dining experience I have had. The waiter actually had an argument at the table with me when I asked to have my sushi roll cut. He also wouldn't explain the menu and was overall very condescending. The sushi was just average. Don't make this a place on your Hawaiian vacation itinerary."

"Food quality high. Cost VERY high. The $80. to $100. per person bill at the end of the meal resulted in a burning sensation that considerably diminished the overall quality of the experience. If you can get past that issue, the dishes were perfectly prepared and presented. My wife thought that it was the best meal of the week."

"Our experience at Nobu was absolutely amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the creative and delicious food, the decor and the service. As we are a couple, Our only point for improvement would be to space the tables further apart to enable us to get to our seat more comfortably and not feel involved in other's conversations."

"If you had a choice of "Noisy" instead of energetic , I would pick noisy. If you don't mind people screaming "WELCOME" everytime a new patron enters, go for it. But I would suggest positioning yourself so you can see them enter and not be surprised every 5 or 10 minutes. The staff didn't understand our prior request for no "banquette" seating. They thought we meant "BANQUET". ?REALLY? If a dish is meant to "share" as we were told, how about 2 pieces of BOK CHOY with the meal? Not sure what all the "hype" is about."
