"Globe does a good job with preparation and presentation, but the problem is quantity, or the lack thereof. It's "precious." We left feeling as if we'd just consumed a four course meal for little people. The main course, I must say, was at the low end of quantity, which is to say, approaching adequate. The previous two: salad or soup, calimari or (don't remember), were tasty, well-prepared, attractively served, and gone in a flash, although we ate v e r y slowly to make them last. I'm not sure this is what Michael Pollan had in mind with his invocation: "Eat food, mostly plants, not too much." If it is, they've taken him literally, at least the 'not too much' part."

"The staff were very flexible in rearranging our table to accept a larger group than we had reserved for. Fortunately it was a slow Sunday night at the restaurant. The menu was a bit limited due to renovation going on, but enough choice for most. The veal was wonderful."

"A neighborhood-type spot with excellent, moderately-priced food. My entree and dessert were both notably delicious. The beer list is merely adequate, but that seems par for the course in SF. I have already recommended this place to others, and I'll make a point of going back next time I'm in the city."

"I used to LOVE Globe but this trip was an exception. The service was alright but really slow. They seemed to have only one server working on a Friday night and although they were not extremely busy it took 10 minutes for us to receive a glass of wine/cocktail. That is never fun. Also, the dining room seemed to have really poor ventilation. As though the brick oven or something in the kitchen wasn't properly operating. My eyes watered the entire time and my throat was scratchy when I left. Finally, the menu wasn't that impressive. There wasn't a solid variety of choices and I don't mind quality over quantity but this was really really limited.I unfortunately will not go back to Globe for a while. I hope they turn it around."

"Small restaurant. Ask for a booth - we were seated at a table right next to the bar and it was very hard to hear each other. This was a business dinner; would be much better location for an intimate, romantic dinner because the lighting is VERY dim to dark. Food was okay but nothing I would rave about."

"Food was excellent. It was a bit dark and noisy when we were there...but service was really good and very attentive. Homemade Pasta, Salmon and chicken dishes were awesome. And if you like Tuna Tartar....you have to order the Globe's."

"This is one fine San Francisco restaurant that's always open well past the 10pm witching hour where most other such restaurants close. The food is always excellent and reasonably priced. I've never had a bad meal there, and I've been a dozen times or so. It's not noisy and I've never had trouble finding street parking within half a block or so."

"I had eaten here several years ago and remembered it had a good reputation. We decided to go for a Valentine's dinner, but on the 15th. The bread was not a good sign, it was like the wonderbread I ate as a kid. Then came the appetizers which were not too bad. i ordered the Salmon and Kale, it was so salty, it was bearly edible. My husband had the lamb which was uninspiring. Too bad. The decor was good and the service was fine."

"Globe provides an excellent balance of rustic charm and modern features while still keep the noise level down enough to have an intimate conversation. The food was unique but not outlandish and was proportioned well for multiple courses."

"Globe is a great spot for a nice dinner date. I would not recommend trying to bring more than four people on any one visit. The place is fairly small. But if it is just you and another, you will enjoy the ambiance of the place. And the food! It was absolutely great. On Valentine's Day, Globe provided a prix fixe menu that was absolutely great.
In terms of price, it was a bit high. This is not a normal dinner place; it is for nice dinners only. But if you want a nice dinner, definitely consider it."
