"We arrived on time for our reservation, but waited an additional 10-15 minutes to be seated. Tonic is quite loud, and in the past I've had difficulty holding conversations. That wasn't an issue this time, although it was still "energetic". The food was good - the cocktail (Mrs. Robinson, a blend of cinnamon and cardamom flavors) was interesting and the pizzas (we got their two vegetarian offerings) baked just right. We also tried the pretzel appetizer - another good choice. We were disappointed that there were meager vegetarian offerings beyond the pizza - a portabella sandwich and a mushroom pasta, both of which seem to be a standby at many restaurants. Confusingly, all of the mac and cheese options contained some sort of meat product."

Review 3 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"As always, Tonic was great. The computer system was down when we showed up, which threw a wrench in the experience as a whole, but not enough to deter me from going again. They have great fruit, great bagels, and great tots! Delicious food and great ambiance, overall."

Review 7 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Tonic was fine- food and drinks were fine, nothing to "write home about." We won't be back, unless perhaps we're in the neighborhood. The outdoor patio looked very popular, but it's not worth going for the food alone."

Review 8 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"I've been to the Tonic in Mt. Pleasant, and both that location and the one near GW has a great feel to it. It's casual, but good food. We had my friend's 5-year-old son with us and the waitress was very accommodating. He asked to see the kitchen, and she told us how to get there and the staff waved at him when he peeped in."

"Brunch was great, good vibe and good food. The server however, was impossible to get a hold of and quite rude. If you get an older woman with glasses upstairs, beware!"

Review 10 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"The only saving grace about Tonic is the outdoor patio - were it not for the nice weather and the sun on the patio, nothing about the experience would have been good at all. The tater tots were overhyped - they're not anything more than regular tater tots. The mac and cheese tasted like it came straight out of a box. The burger was mediocre at best. The pulled pork was nothing special, and the corn bread that came with it tasted like it had been soaked in butter because it was so dense. I've been here before for trivia night, and the bar scene was fun, but I would never have food here again or recommend that anybody order food."

Review 11 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"We elected to sit at a table in the bar area, so we take some responsibility for the slow service since the bartender was also tending bar. However, he completely forgot one of our appetizers, he didn't put the right fruit on the drink after being told twice, and the only time he smiled was when we were leaving. The food was meiocre at best. The fried onions on the steak salad seemed days old.
However, another employee, perhaps a bar back or busser(?), Hector, was very helpful. He provided outstanding service."

Review 14 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Service was slower than usual. I asked for the steak salad without fried onions, as I cannot eat wheat. I got fried onions on top. Then it took ages to get iced tea refills and to get the check. Not as good as usual."

"I came here to eat their burger with my girlfriend. The service was good and the decor of the restaurant is really nice. It has different floors for different purposes. Burgers were well done and tasted great.I wish they had fries served with burgers. Tater tots were still good. I might come back here to get drinks next time. I would definitely recommend it."

Review 20 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Tonic has a limited menu but its good and hearty as well as tasty too. Appeals to those hungry college kids but a bit more refined than the cafeteria. Its loud and we were about to be seated right below a speaker I pleaded for something quieter and was shown to a booth which was somewhat better. I've been to Tonic for drinks before (love those tater tots) and was happy to go back. Not very good if you are calorie counting but a fun meal."

Review 21 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Me and my friend were an hour and a half late for our reservation and they still graciously took us in. We had just run a half marathon and were STARVING. The bartender was very accommodating and MADE us chocolate milk. Probably the best chocolate milk of all time. I had this amazing croissant sandwich with bacon, cheese, egg and avocado. My friend had biscuits and eggs. Those tater tots were to die for. Mimosas looked good, but I had to drive home.
Lots of stairs to get up to the dining area, probably not great for your grandma."

"We came here with a group of 7 before a gwu basketball game for brunch. Food and service was awesome, not to mention the delicious bottomless mimosas! Their 'remedies' drink list was also very well done. This is a great find in downtown DC, and perfect for a food stop or local watering hole. We will definitely be back!"

Review 25 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Prices were reasonable and menu was varied enough to please everyone in our party. My veggie burger was obviously house-made and was delicious. The regular burger and the brownie sundae also got rave reviews. Restaurant is on different levels of a really neat historic building which was once a pharmacy. Tall booths made the dining room more private and quiet and there was a neat circular banquette for larger groups. Staff wear hysterical t-shirts and are professional yet down-to-earth."

Review 26 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"I went to Tonic for brunch. It is in a college student-heavy area of town so the restaurant is exactly what you'd expect -- casual, low-key, decent food and huge portions. They have a pretty large brunch menu (with the option for bottomless mimosas which I think is a nice touch). I had the wet breakfast burrito which was fine and a side order of pancakes which I loved (in fact, my primary reason for picking Tonic to brunch at was the fact that they offered pancakes as a side item; they solved my perpetual brunch dilemma of whether to order sweet or savory by letting me have a bit of both). Service was very quick and friendly. My only complaint: more heat. I was sitting by a window and, even with my jacket on, was still cold"

"Really fun restaurant, great waiter, food from burgers to the salmon salad excellent. Waiter recommnended a terrific beer to try and my daughter loved the tater tots. We'll return without hesitation for brunch, lunch or dinner and look forward to warmer weather when we can sit on the patio."

"It was pretty good... very much a college bar/restaurant on a Friday night. It was LOUD. I had a veggie burger. It had good flavor, but it fell apart when I was trying to eat it. Good beer selection. Overall, it was good."

Review 29 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Lunch at Tonic was a good, solid experience. Nothing too fancy or special, just tasty and quick. I resisted all the really yummy things like Tater Tots and burgers, since it was Ash Wednesday and I'm on a diet, so couldn't have meat or fried food, but the salad with crabcake was pretty good. The lettuce could have been a little fresher, but the crabcake was delicious."

Review 30 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Had to wait 45 minutes to get our table despite (obviously) having a reservation. Host was unapologetic and seemed somewhat frazzled. Server was kind, funny and knowledgeable, however food was room temperature by the time it got to us. We were trying to make a show, so we just ate what we got and left. Would recommend for a drink, but not for dinner."

Review 31 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"I have eaten here multiple times. Without fail the food is mediocre at best. The service is hit or miss but the restaurant itself has unaccommodating policies. The gworld machine has been broken on multiple occasions which I'm sure is not the establishment's fault, but only sometimes do they explain before you are seated that they will not be accepting specific forms of payment. Some people love the tots, but if I am not mistaken they are just frozen tots that one could buy at any grocery store. Many of my friends are far more optimistic about this place which is why I've been so many times. Overall if you have a lot of time to kill and don't dine out for the food, its convenient location makes it easy to spend time there."

Review 34 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"The food and service at brunch were good, but not remarkable. The server was nice, but seemed unsure when asked questions about the food. I had eggs benedict which was good although the sauce was a little too salty and acidic. One of the other people at the table had an omelet with feta, spinach, and salmon and remarked that it was good, but too salty and the presentation of the eggs was lacking. The third person had scrambled eggs with toast and tater tots and said everything was good and the serving size was quite large."

Review 35 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"Ate at Tonic for Saturday brunch, glad I made a reservation since it looked pretty popular. The bottomless mimosas were splendid and went very well with their world-famous tots, the Benedict Burger was a scrumptious brunch creation, and I loved that there were crayons on the table for scribbling on the paper tablecloth overlays! Such a fun place, and great for a low-key, not-too-expensive yet still interesting brunch."

Review 39 for Tonic Restaurant @ Quigley's Pharmacy
"We were at Tonic for brunch on inauguration day. This was our third of four visits to Tonic on our three day Inauguration Weekend trip to Washington so you might say we grew very fond of the place. For brunch we ate upstairs and the food was very good with a good menu selection and Daniel provided excellent service. Our other three visits were downstairs at the bar and the high tops in that area. Tonic has a great selection of local craft beers and a great bar menu of appetizers and sandwiches."
