Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel Reviews List
Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
Above all else, the food at the Colony Palms Hotel is beyond anything the Coachella Valley has ever experienced.
Situated in the magnificent courtyard of the Colony Palms Hotel, the restaurant design evokes the glamour of the 1930’s and 40’s when the Colony Palms was “the” place to be seen in Palm Springs. Amazing food, stunning decor, mountain views, and gracious service…what more can be said?
"Was in town for the weekend and some friends who have a place in Palm Springs recommended. Just so happened it was also Restaurant Week so we went for the three course meal. The gaspacho was amazing followed by the hanger steak and potatoes au gratin which were service in a separate dish. Not only was the food delicious, the portions I received were quite large. Could not stop eating and had to walk off the meal on the strip as I was so full! Would highly recommend and plan on going back next time we are in town."

Review 3 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"We went to Purple Palm because we had heard about their Executive Chef Jeff Armstrong. His resume looks like a Zagat roster... Armstrong's amazing menu, along with the hotel's history and charm made this a meal we'll remember for months to come... Hidden in the Colony Palms Hotel, this is a must go when wanting to live the whole Palm Springs Experience. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a meal/atmosphere they won't soon forget...."

Review 4 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"We have dined here many times, one of our favorite places in PS. Always enjoyed our dinner. However this night service was terrible. No one approached us for 20 minutes and when he did he seemed annoyed and kept that attitude thru meal. Drinks took very long to get although it wasn't busy and we were right next to the bar! We asked to talk to manager and no one ever came by the table. Our tip reflected the service, trust me."

Review 6 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"Our waiter spent most of his time attempting to get us to order cocktails. It started the moment we sat down and even though we originally just needed a moment to read the menu we quickly switched to not wanting them simply because we didn't enjoy being constantly pestered. The food was overpriced for what it was and as someone with dietary restrictions I was unhappy with the ingredients they failed to list on the menu that ended up being major parts of the dishes I ordered."

Review 7 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"As locals from Palm Springs, we dined here once 4 years ago and have been back for drinks in late afternoons with out of town guests. We decided to try dinner again. Again, dinner was disappointing. The food was much better this time. The hotel is much busier, which is great. However, the service was indifferent and inconsistent. More problematic is that this beautiful room is no more than a den looking out onto a bar followed by a swimming pool scene. In short, we were correct the first time. We'll come again for drinks and might even try lunch by the pool in cool weather. But there are much better places in Palm Springs for dinner at much better value in wine and food--think Miro's, Copleys, and even some of the steak houses."

Review 8 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"After reading other reviews on this restaurant, I have to agree; the service was not good. The server was arrogant, he wouldn't put our starter plate orders into the kitchen until we decided on our entrees. My husband & I wanted to enjoy a leisurely evening out, but felt rushed & pressured to order. My husband ordered a cocktail & the waiter bocked at the kind of alcohol he was ordering as if it was beneath the restaurant to carry that brand. He rarely came to the table & we had to ask where our cocktails were & the bar ended up making 2 wrong ones. The starter plates were great, the entrees were mediocre. Definitely try the fried avocado! I had the scallops, they were cooked perfectly, but the plate was overwhelmed w/ pea purée."

Review 9 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"Located in a vintage Palm Springs boutique hotel. Unassuming from the street, the hotel is built around a large well landscaped courtyard with pool. The restraurant is adjacent ot the pool and includes indoor and outdoor bars and dining areas. Service, ambiance, and food were awesome. Epic, personal top 10 dining experience. Best dining experience in CA desert."

Review 13 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"This is one of my favorite Palm Springs hidden gems. Terrific ambiance for romantic night out, poolside cabana appetizers before dinner or just sitting in the bar enjoying the view of the mountains. Incredible ambiance."

Review 17 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"Beautiful place and the food was very good overall. There were four of us and a couple of people weren't all that thrilled with their dinners but I loved mine, The Cod in a Clam Chowder. The bbq octopus appetizer wasn't good at all, really should have sent it back."

Review 19 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"A great, classic Palm Springs setting, dining around the pool at night ::: Service was on top, our entres were more tasty and surprisingly good for a hotel ::: A bit higher prices than expected, but not insulting and therefore recommended..."

Review 21 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"The Purple Palm is absolutely divine. Our waiter, Antonio, was tremendous, recommending certain dishes and guiding us through an incredible dining experience. He even ordered us a celebratory dessert, gratis! The food was top notch. Beautiful setting as we ate out on the patio. I can't recommend it enough. Perfect way to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary!"

Review 22 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"Blah. I don't know why this place has high ratings. The food really was not good. My chicken had little flavor, as did the veggie sides. Ambiance was nice at night, but still feeling disappointed by the food. Could have been great. Too bad."

Review 23 for Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
"The flip flops and lap tops should be banned from a fine dining experience, these people should be in the lobby, or at McDonald's ! The first entree was the barimundi cod unfit to eat, the salad had too much dressing, on a positive note the scallops were outstanding. The wine bucket was stashed too far from the table. We enjoyed the meal despite the laptops sitting next to our party clicking away."
