"Although the menu was the same, I think there is a new chef because it was prepared better. The food is very good and a great atmosphere. The quite side of the restaurant, away from the bar was remodeled and it looks great."

"We took Mom there for an early Mothers Day dinner. This place is one of her favorites due to the piano/singer music that they feature each weekend. The food and service are very good. There's a very popular bar scene that always has a great crowd...the bar menu is a very good value. The location near the Newport canals makes for a nice setting."

"Fixed menu excellent with very fresh seafood dishes. The choice of bread pudding dessert was not as exciting due to blandness and dense and dry consistency. Ambience pleasant. Must be a secret find as every table in both the dining room and the bar side were full. We will return with the family next time."

"For a restaurant that touts its wine, I found the wine list to be unimpressive at best and overpriced and lacking in choices at worst. The wines by the glass, opps! by the stem, as they were so pretentiously named, were basically just house wines available at any bar. Capital Grill has a better selection for the same prices. The food was ok. The swordfish was good, but the lemon risotto it rested on was bland and much like cardboard. The petit green beans on top were cold. However the beet and goat cheese salad was excellent. The steak was cooked to perfection. The tomato burrato mozzarella salad had the potential to be great if only the tomatoes had been flavorful - perhaps when tomatoes are in season locally. Won't return."

"We went to Bayside with another couple as we had not been to Bayside for several years. The service starting at the Reception desk and thru-out the evening was very good. The appetizers - the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Lobster Bruschetta were excellent. We had brought our own wine however the wine list had many opportunities. We will defintely be back soon."

"We've not been to Bayside in awhile as we often go to their sister restaurant Bistango in Irvine. Now that the restaurant interior has been redone, it is very sophisticated with a lot of browns and leather. The food -- the menu has been expanded to include new items, i.e. steaks. We had the sashimi tartare and the lobster salad for appetizers and the special pork chop and the scallops for our entrees; all were excellent. Corkage is minimal at $15. We had the chocolate souffle for dessert but this is more like a small chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream."

"Our service was outstanding. However, we were seated at a round table in the middle of the room. Even with only six people at the tablle, it was impossible to have conversation with anyone other than the person right next to you. The acoustics where we were seated were terrible. The food came quickly but was mediocre. I think Bayside is always hit or miss, but the service and ambiance was always worth taking a chance on the food. I have changed my mind. The prices are way too high for the level of food and the portion size. That coupled with not being able to carry on a conversation if you get the wrong table takes it off of my list."

"We had forgotten how consistenly great this restaurant is! The bar area is too noisy for our dining enjoyment, but the main dining room is just fine. The presentation of all dishes is gorgeous, which definitely adds to the overall dining experience. The ahi tuna appetizer is fabulous and ample for sharing. Two of us had the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection. Another had the scallops, which were delicious and also beautifully presented. Although we made no mention of a birthday, when it became obvious we were celebrating, our server presented the "birthday boy" with a complementary "signature dish" chocolate souffle cake and ice cream. A VERY nice touch. Bayside is back in our regular rotation of favorite restaurants."

"Manager knows my father & we got wonderful service w/ a personal touch. Menu appropriate for brunch altho prices higher than what I recalled only several years ago & it seems some brunch items no longer on menu. My guests enjoyed their food for most part. Chili bass was good. However, my friend who had the lobster sandwich felt the bread might have been a little too thick. Good service & pleasant ambience with music in background. We were seated on time."

"The most wonderful thing about Bayside is that for the 2+ hours we were there, five of us were able to carry on a coversation without shouting at one another.....truly a rarity in a restaurant these days. Just as wonderful was the indredible dinner served by a waiter who was exceptionally attentive. We live in San Francisco and travel to Laguna Beach about once a month. We will make Bayside a regular stop when we're in town."

"Went here for Valentine's Day. It was packed, but the staff did a great job getting everyone to their tables as quickly as possible Very friendly staff, and our server did a good job even though it was a full house. The menu was different for the occasion than it usually is, but it was very good food.
I don't know too much about wine pairing, but the server was helpful enough to make suggestions. This is a nice place, great decor, and the food is good."

"I was there for Valentine's day dinner with my wife and daughter. Of course it was crowded with many people waiting to be seated and hanging out at the bar. Still we managed to get drinks and the wait was only 1hr. With the confusion of the night I thought something had to go wrong. However, I was wrong. Our waiter was great, drinks were awesome and the food was phenomenal. We had carpaccio, ahi tartare, crab cake for appetizer and filet mignon, lamb chops and sea bass for dinner. There was not one marginal dish. Everything tasted super, cooked just right, looked great, etc. I cannot say enough. Let's not forget the deserts. They were also awesome!"
